Hi, I was taking some photos for the rate my physique page and before uploading I rated them myself and decided that I’d probably get abused in there, however this was the first time i had objectively looked at myself and it has raised a few issues.
About me: 5ft11
175lbs
1rm Bench 220
1rm squat 225
1rm deadlift 340
I am presently as strong as i have ever been, but am still suffering from a shoulder injury, which when it occurred stopped most of my training and all of my good diet habits resulting in a drop from 190lbs to 183 and a huge gain in body fat.
Since then I have clearly cut and then focussed on strength gains, and am now looking to increase size and strength. However i’ve realised that I already have lagging body parts and alignment issues which I need help correcting.
My traps, and erector spinae are enormous compared to anything else, hence the comparitively high deadlift, however I think this is due to manual labour rather than excessive deadlifting.
I attempted a lat spread and basically all you can see is traps, more worryingly my right trap is much bigger than my left, and I believe this to be the source of my continued shoulder pain. Also in both my front and rear double bicep my right shoulder is higher than my left. It also hurts to hold and tense my right arm like that, although heavy benching and shoulder presses seem ok as long as its with a bar.
Upright rows have been painful and as such I have avoided them, as well as including scapulae exercises such as pressups plus, which seem to help. I’ve been doing deadlifts with my right hand underhand, will this have affected my shoulders?
In addition to this my lats are pretty small (I can do 10 full wide grip overhand pull/chin ups from fresh)and i have no definition in my arms whatsoever despite them being around 14.5 inches and having a low enough bf to see my top 4 abs.
I’m pretty happy with my legs, although coming from a long distance running back ground i have tiny knees and find it tough to build the lower quad (vastus medialis i believe)
If anyone can help with these issues I would be massively grateful.
Tobes
