A Fat Guy Looking to Permabulk

Glad to hear that getting girls has become easier for you, but I can promise you that, as a whole, fat guys are not pulling better tail than skinny guys. If you had the confidence that you seem to have now as a skinny guy, perhaps that would have translated well. I’ve pulled some fantastic girls as an out of shape guy, and as an in shape guy. The point being (and for whatever reason men seem so ignorant of this fact), looks are NOT number 1 on the list of most attractive women. I can assure you that money and confidence rank higher, almost absolutely.

I think it was just that I stopped caring what people thought, the fatness was just specific to me personally stopping giving a fuck. I remember being 15 and having abs and really fit and I was so insecure I hated taking my shirt off. I thought I was gross and I have tortured myself over every aspect of my entire being forever.

I was the weirdo on the football team who would stay in and attempt to read Kant and struggled to breakdown Capital volume 2 because I was too insecure to go fuck the girl texting me that she had an empty house. Maybe its not being fat made me better, its people didn’t like a lean but insane teenager.

I have struggled with my mental machinations for forever so I could understand this is all nonsense to anyone who isn’t in my personal position.

Your goals are your goals, but just to help with the planning, you may want to be more concrete, as in “I want to weigh Z in 4 years and lift X amount of weight”, and reverse engineer shorter term goals from there. I suppose, considering they have weight classes in PLing, the classes and meets should be taken into consideration.

I haven’t been able to keep track of everything, but I agree that it makes sense to cut while getting the early newb numbers anyway… I mean, you’ll get those regardless, so you might as well start 20 lbs (or whatever) lighter, if just for the simple fact that it gives you more options later on. Though, 2800 calories sounds normal, and that your response to everything isn’t to eat a hamburger.

it’s not nonsense. Attitude is everything. I couldn’t get girls for shit in high school (was a super skinny dude then). I believed it was my looks, and not my personality. So I started working out in college, my attitude changed, and subsequently started getting girls. At that point, I believed I was getting girls because I looked better. My last year in college I adopted the ‘I don’t give a fuck’ attitude. I did a lot of drugs, and dropped a ton of weight. I looked like shit, grew my hair, showered infrequently. But I sure as hell liked to party. I got a ton of girls in this phase, even though I looked the shittiest I ever looked. This showed me how little looks mean. I looked half dead and could still get laid, lol.

No. Not morbidly obese either. A good base of muscle for a 14 year old which he increased LONG with bodyfat as he got to 400lbs.

So if you want to start on that route its better to start with lower bodyfat so you can bloody push the envelope with calories when strength gains slow down.

How hard is it to understand? Do you think you are only going to gain muscle and no fat? Or do you think strength gains will come indefinitely while fluctuating round a higher bodyweight?
I think getting smaller will, well get me smaller. I can see your point and most people here agree with you. I am simply not sure that it is right and ultimately I am going to have to do what i think is the best thing to do.

As I said I might end up recomping because I just put everything i ate today in my old myfitnespal account on my iPod and eating whenever i am hungry from good food sources I ate 2855 calories.

Looking at calorie calculators I should be getting 2300 - 2900 a day depending on exercise etc to maintain my current weight.

As I said I am looking at this journey in terms of decades not weeks months or years.

My end goal is to be in the 275 - 320 range and I have a personal total I want to hit before the day I die. This is a long process and I am determined to reach the goals I have set for myself.

I can adjust and recalculate and respond to things on this journey and am not going to just slam gallon after gallon of chocolate milk with a dozen krispe kremes for breakfast.

Again I thank you for your honest feedback and I hope you will check into my log to see my progress and keep giving me feedback and honest opinions as i progress.
As flip said, if you’re serious about PL, you have to realize that it’s a weight class based sport. This will almost certainly mean cutting. I’m cutting right now for a meet in July. I’m going down to 83kg and will have abs at that weight, as will most lighter PLers. Why? Because I’ll be more competitive at 83kg than 93kg. Having more lean muscle at 83kg than my competitors will be more advantageous than being a loose 93kg. And that’s the reality of a weight class based sport. It’s not about absolute strength unless you’re a SHW.

You may want to re-evaluate the realism of your goals. At 5’9", without years and years of work coupled with an aggressive approach to drugs you will never be a good PLer at 275. If that’s not an approach you’re willing to take, you will have to make the decision whether you want to be huge and a shitty PLer or to be much smaller/leaner but competitive.

Hey man thanks for the reply.

I am not really arsed about being competitive in weight classes. I have my own goals that I want to reach and they don’t involve winning in any sportive sense.

I don’t really like to share my goals as far as my set goals go because all it does is bring ridicule and naysayers nine and talking about it isn’t what will bring it so I just keep it to myself and work towards it.

The thing is, the posters here are not a bunch of scrawny teenagers overly concerned about their abs. The fact that some of us feel compelled to dissuade you from doing things this way is because we have been above 200lbs before and not come close to obesity, and that is a feat in itself even when starting from low bodyfat levels.

This is not the same as random insecure kids calling Leeman fat while he’s proving them wrong all the way.

Furthermore, you are already 21. You recognise that you have a body image problem. Its time to solve those mental issues and focus on planning out a life and career path. This is not something you should turn to weights and extreme weight gain to solve. At age 24 I started a business, stopped lifting and shrank from around 210lbs to 140lbs at your height. My business took off and any self esteem issues also disappeared as getting women among other things is even easier when you have money to burn and a bit of status.

In th end, you are going to do what you are going to do. I just hope you fix your image issues and not rely on just your perception of your body to run your life. There are many goals in life which are more important than gym lifts and bodyweight goals unless you are Mark Bell or Brandon Lilly.

Neither of those guys post here anymore(thankfully)

Couple things to throw out there: One, I can actually second the notion that some women might be more attracted to a little fuller look. Just like Im not attracted to twig super models or pro BB looking women. Just a thought there. Also to add the the list of pros for being fat: PL leverages, aka strength.

Second and more importantly, OP, I think you may want to consider if you are rationalizing that being fat is okay. If you really truly dont care, well fine, I dont really either. Your post makes me wonder if you really do, though. Mainly, if you didnt care, would you be even thinking about it much? Would you be posting on a forum about it?

And to attempt to directly answer your question: you really just have to decide where you want to draw the line balancing everything. Strength progress, physique goals, health, and what will make you overall more happy. For instance Im pretty sure Id be a less pleasant person if I had to count all my calories and macros every day. I just dont want to do it. Im aware that thats a hindrance to my overall training, but its a balance.

Does it matter to you that the fatter you get the more insulin resistant you’ll be and the harder it will get to put on muscle? Not to mention the toll obesity will take on your health.

If you are concerned about your stretch marks get them lasered.

There’s a way to get bigger and stronger that won’t leave your body and health in ruin.

Is this some kind of ploy your mind has cooked up to delude yourself into thinking it’s OK to have gorge sessions?

Have you thought you might have an eating disorder or are possibly addicted to food?

Wendler lost weight because he realized there’s no point in being big and strong if you have forsaken your body and feel like shit all the time. With age came wisdom why not learn from the mistakes of others instead of not giving a fuck throwing in the towel and opting out of an essential part of life that most other people have to think about and deal with? We have to take care of ourselves don’t just throw that away because you’d rather be apathetic.

Are you just lazy?

Why not recomp?
