Thanks all! The way these MPs are going, it feels like I sandbagged on my max testing day…
Last rep was almost as fast as the first! Nice job. You get your head through better than I do, too.
Great OHP work, Sol. I’ll be joining you tomorrow. Did you do a lighter rep-out set after your last working set?

Thanks skid - I clipped my chin on of couple of those…
now not only are my legs and ass sore from yesterday, my upper back and shoulders are getting that “toasty” feeling as well.

That’s an excellent sign that you’re keeping the bar close to midline. Distracting though, ain’t it?
Hey Sol-
Just catching up here…you are getting a lot of great feedback and support!
Keep working hard! ![]()
Great pressing. That’s a really wide grip you’re using on the ohp. Looks like a behind the neck press to the front. With a closer grip I bet you can put up a lot more weight. Looking good all the way around.

Thanks hel - I’m experimenting with the grip width right now trying to find what works best for me.

Each money set on this program is a PR for me since I haven’t been training for long. But as Skid pointed out I guess I ought to recognize them, at least for future reference.[/quote]
That;s much better. The mp’s were good too
I’m not to sure about the orange curtains though. I’d switch to a neutral colour.
I suck at military press. Do you do much push press?
I agree with hel soldog. But find the sweet spot for your shoulders first. You dont want back in the bad shoulder train wreck! You are making huge gains. Great training!

In person the curtains are more maroon than orange and they are concealing the remainder of the mess until we get some other storage places cleared. Then - they are outta there…
I have never done push press and as a matter of fact the past couple of months are my first attempts at training a military press.

I hear that J! Keeping my shoulders healthy is high on my agenda.

That’s good though. A lower starting weight can yield results for a longer time. I doubled the goal reps for the day through the third cycle. Actually, I’m in my sixth cycle and got 12 reps on MP for the first wave (5 reps).

Oh, the “z.” Completely missed that.

As you move your grip around, do you find that you get more sore one week vs. another? Do you feel more stress one way vs the other?
I tried some different grips and I ended up going with just wider than shoulder width (pretty much just put my arms out in front of me and center up on the bar…). Any wider and it just kills my shoulder.

Well it’s only been two positions so far, a relatively narrow grip (about 16 inches between fingers) and that wider one. Today I am feeling it more than last week but in my upper back and traps not the shoulders. Neither grip hurt my shoulders. Next week (which is 5-3-1 week) I’ll try your approach.

ha ha see that’s why I added the arrow; sure I could have just bolded the z, but it would have looked out of place

I’m no expert, but it doesn’t look like you were following through(f’ing the bar
) on that heavy set…
Or maybe it’s just the angle?
Keep it up!
