You know I only want you for your beekeeping skills anyway. I won’t need you to type anything.

Before I forget: I got my new shirt today. Titan F6 size 34. I already emailed the primo bench guy in Niagara to see when’s a good time to come by.

In other news, Ruggerlife’s wraps were in the same package. Beautiful new THPs. Maybe when he comes to get them, we can try them out here.

Who’s your primo bench guy? You better not be stealing mine :stuck_out_tongue: Okay, I have two, but still

Frank

Glad that you do not want me for my typing skills-

Cool news on the shirt- you gear whore.
I do need to get some stuff- a belt and some adidas Olift shoes again, the chucks are ok.
I think the squat shoes I had are gone like 17 moves ago.

I added you to the Honey list, but its for next season, not this one OK?

So now I’m going to pay more attention to my diet. In the last month, I’ve swung between 1.5 to 2 kg over my competition weight. Go ahead everyone and make fun of me now. My good buddy PMPM already took the piss out of me for worrying about it. However, when I first cut weight last summer to get down to 56 kg, it really impacted my strength and energy so I need to be smart about this.

First thing I’m doing is upping my water intake. I’ve been bad for that. I’ll try for 4 litres a day to see how much of the extra weight is pure water retention.

Ms. PMPM suggested, after she laughed at me that I log all my food so I’m off to fit day. This morning I already logged everything I know I’m eating for the day. I entered everthing but my dinner since I mostly eat everthing the same every day. This is what my day looks like without dinner. It will likely end up being something like a bagel with cream cheese and tuna since it’s a busy evening with school open houses, gymnastics and my training.

There aren’t a ton of calories happening. I’m still trying to stay at 56 until after my meet in the fall. Maybe I can still afford to shave a couple of kilos off my ass.

I just noticed that I’m not getting enough calories from alcohol. I’ll pick up more beer for the afternoon at work. Protein isn’t bad. Dinner will likely have at least 30 grams in addition to the 90 already logged.

56kg? multiplies 56 by 2.2, carries the 4, divides by the square root of a large pizza and gives up

You’re tiny!

Strong as hell but tiny.

1200 calories? starves for you

Beer is always the answer!

Seriously, for 56kgs that’s probably not too far off (assuming dinner puts you in the 1,500-1,750 range).

Two questions:

Are you distributing these throughout the day over 4-5 meals, or crunching them into 2-3 meals?

Is this weight change since Nationals (early April)?

56 kg is 123lbs. So far in competition I’ve competed at 54.7 to 55.0.

My total calories will be closer to 2,000 for the day once I add in dinner. However, I thought I was consuming more. When I did it a couple of months ago it was 2300 (ish).

I don’t know where I’m going to pull 2kg. Hopefully it’s mostly water.

The weight gain is since nationals. I wonder if its an effect of the higher volume I’ve been doing.

Meals are:

Breakfast
mid morning snack
lunch
mid afternoon snack
dinner
evening snack

So it’s pretty spread out but the main meals are larger.

That’s a good schedule. Here are my thoughts, take from them (or ignore) what you will.

First, it isn’t a lot of weight so I wouldn’t think anything dramatic is needed or benefitial.

The simpliest approach would be to see if any of the calories are coming from desserts that could be eliminated/minimized. Then increase low intensity activity (ie walking) if possible.

You could also use some form of HIIT and/or complexes a few times a week, but be careful how this may impact strength training. This would also need to be eliminated/minimized closer to the competition.

Secondly, what is your goal weight? I see too options for you.

  1. Get to 56kgs soon and stay there through the fall.
  2. Get to something like 57kgs and cut the last kg or so for the competition.

If you were going straight to the Worlds, I’d say number 1 for sure so it’s one less thing to worry about, but you do have the July competition to dry run a small weight cut. Then you could either repeat in the fall or drop to 56kgs prior.

You’ve probably already decided what a goal weight is, so I won’t recommend either.

I think the main thing to remember about this is HOW MUCH weight you cut to get down to 56kg. If you’re just dropping a few lbs of water you won’t notice it as much as, say, dropping 10lbs of mass. It’s all relative.

I have taken that into consideration. However, 2 kg is still 4.5lbs. At this weight, it’s still something I’d prefer not to leave to the last minute and hope for the best.

I’m thinking more along the lines of RL’s suggestion of trimming to 57 and then dropping water the week before. I need to do more experimenting with how much water I think I can drop. Dropping 2 lbs of water at 200lbs is different than 2lbs at 125lbs. I’m not so concerned for Ottawa. It’s more of a close dry run. I just don’t want to have to fuck around with weight management in September after a long overseas flight. I’ll be more concerned about important stuff like will my blow dryer work in the different electric current. Which reminds me, I’d better not forget to pick up an adapter plug.

RL, how cute that you think I have desserts I can cut out.

How much does your weight normally vary?

At 200lbs my weight can be as low as 194 or as high as 206 depending solely on the time of day, my level of hydration and my carb consumption.

If you eat a relatively high carb content diet you could drop all 4.5lbs as water weight VERY fast.

Joe, I weigh myself every morning and every evening. I could drop between .5 to 1 kg over night. Before meets I’ve tracked for a few weeks and written it all down and the variances. Thus far, it’s only mattered what I weighed in the morning since that’s when we weigh in. It’s typically around 7 am.

The fall meet I will be weighing in at 1pm which will actually be 7pm my time. I will only have two days to adjust to the time change. That just adds an extra element of fun.

Do you do any type of cardio?

Also whats the time frame for your weight loss? As in the date you are competing etc?

I can see how the time change issue could be problematic.

Eight weeks.

Silly girl.

You underestimate my ability to pre-stress about everything in my life. I think now is the time to pay attention to it especially since I keep gaining. I have to stop that for sure. Maybe I’m pregnant. That’d make it tough to get into the squat suit.

I haven’t heard yet about anyone successfully impregnating themselves…well unless they use a turkey baster or something… You would make millions with all the publicity! You could have multiple squat suits custom made!
