A Cheerful Misanthrope

Great workouts and good luck to you.

That is quite some arch, nice technique

and I love how you match with outfit with the canuck olympic shoes…
powedered chacha and all.

nice work.

that is not quite part E now is that OBs?

kmc

Set 2 of 5 - 5 singles at 185 with 10 seconds between rack and under the bar again.

I took longer to set up this time and really focused on getting my elbows down and slowing things up. I think my elbows look better but can still be farther forward. This is putting a lot of stress on my wrists. On my final set, the bar slipped a few inches down my back.

However, they are getting easier every time and i’m feeling a lot more comfortable with it. I don’t think I really had to fight to get up on any of these.

These are looking quite goood!
nice work.

now I will take care of part E

ahhh there’s what the fans want!

just a suggestion that I’m still working on, pull those elbows forward to be vertical even before unracking the bar. Notice where they are as you are walking the bar out.

we need a video of part E (but not from kmc)

I am cognizant of the position of my elbows but am still fighting with it. The weight feels like a lot of stress on my wrists when I push the elbows forward. I think it’s going to be a gradual fix over the next couple of months if I keep pushing it. It isn’t a quick fix for me.

Sorry, no video of part E. This portion of T-N is family rated.

I’m fighting with it as well - shutting up now…

i’m very impressed with your progress.

in your federation can you wear wrist wraps when you squat. if not, i would suggest trying a false grip. that would take some of the stress off your wrists.

Thanks very much. It feels a lot better. I’m actually wearing my wrist wraps, you just can’t see them. You can see my arms, they aren’t very thick so I think time will be a factor in my wrist strength. By false grip, do you mean thumb less?

If so, you’re right, we can squat with it but Diana was called on that squatting at our Niagara open. The judge didn’t realise it was legal and she ended up bombing on squats. Since then, she makes sure every one knows its legal before she starts. I may give it a try.

yeah, thumbless. it allows you to put the hands higher so the heel of the hand is actually bracing the weight and not the fingers. it really helps keep the bar from bending the hands backwards.

I’m going to try it tomorrow. Here I am eating my words for wondering wtf Diana was doing with her squats. Now I know. I guess she wins

Sunday May 20 (Mother’s day) GL Burlington

15 minutes elliptical/mobility

Squat
1x10x45
1x5x95
1x5x135
(1x5)x5 185 - 25 reps

I did all sets with a thumbless grip. At first it seemed very insecure and I had to keep reminding myself to lose the thumbs. It felt a lot easier to keep my elbows down. Having said that, all my squats felt like ass today. I was really feeling it in my groin.

Bench
1x10x45
1x65x5
5x5x95
1x5x85 each rep on this set was paused.

DL
1x5x135
1x3x175
5x5x205

I really focused on keeping my toes up and pulling the bar back rather than pulling it up. I have a video. I could really feel the difference in my butt and groin. The latter is not loving me at the moment. I could definately feel the difference in the motion compared to what I was doing before.

At this point I ran into Court and she let me try out her new shirt. She put it on me and I did a quick lift at 135. I think I’m going to get the size 34. It did remind me how much I hate being in a shirt.

CG Bench
1x8x45
3x5x75

DL video. This is set 4 of 5. I was really focusing on pulling back. I noticed that I have a bit of a pelvic tilt happening as I begin to break it off the floor when I pull back. The last two reps my hips came up fast. I need to focus on speed and driving my hips through once I get the bar off the floor.

I’ll think about all of this next Sunday. It’s be interesting to see what it’s like once I get back in gear.

In the spirit of fucking the bar, here’s how I romanced it today:
“And I gotta let ya know
No you’re never gonna regret it
So open up your eyes I got a big surprise
It’ll feel all right
Well I wanna make your motor
run”

I think we’ve all heard that in one form or another

Also, at the start of a video, you can see a guy on the right talking to me and then I shake my head. He was asking if I wanted him to video me. Bastard. He must travel from gym to gym. He already fucked up Bunnies PR video now he’s targetting me. No way mister.

Nice pulls ouroboro! BTW, I cleaned up my training room.

Great pulls. Looks like your ass is coming up first but the pulls look strong!

A little Barry White might be more a propos for the bar romance:

I’ve heard people say that
Too much of anything is not good for you, bar
Oh no
But I don’t know about that
There’s many times that we’ve loved
We’ve shared love and made love
It doesn’t seem to me like it’s enough
There’s just not enough of it
There’s just not enough
Oh oh, bar
My barling I, can’t get enough of your love bar
Bar, I don’t know, I don’t know why
Can’t get enough of your love bar
Oh, some things i can’t get used to
No matter how I try
Just like the more you give, the more I want
And bar, that’s no lie

Okay, so maybe that’s more the speed I was travelling. However, I actually have to other song on my ipod. It brings back good memories.

My ass does come up fast. It’s been a problem for me since I started lifting. Maybe I need someone to stand behind me with a boot on it to keep it down. I doubt I’m the only one that walks around their house in their underwear stopping periodically to set up imaginary deadlifts to review the mechanics of it. I had an epiphany today doing this but I need some actual weight to see if I can make it work or if my butt will still float up.

Really nice work, looking very solid…
strong pulls.

Is your left hip tighter then your right?
It looks like your feet are at different angles-

and that could just be the video-

For me- I am too tight in the hips to really do well with sumo-
but I am able to generate a good ammount of bar speed-

I have to set up with my feet pointint almost straight out-
and push out with the knees and drive with the heels-
which gets my speed going… and keeps my ass from rising-

but Im built differently from you- even though we are about the same height

but your looking well-
kmc

At this point the bar is romancing me more than I am romancing the bar and it seems the bar listens to Linkin Park while it does.

Damn fine pulls.

I’m sure you’d find plenty of volunteers for this!
So what was the epiphany?
And I don’t walk around in my undies(anymore) but I do bw squats all the time…my hubby thinks I’ve lost it…haha!
