I agree with Court re: Sumo, I think women are just built with the hips to do it.
I also know I’ve always had trouble getting the form for conventional DLs down, my knees get beat to hell. Sumo just feels more natural to me.[/quote]
So because I like Sumo more than Conventional, does that mean I’m built like a woman?
Seriously though, I used to alternate between Sumo and Conventional earlier on in my lifting career and found that Conventional beat up my back too much and I never really felt like my glutes were working. Sumo just feels right to me.

No, you;re not built like a woman. I’m sticking with the 12 year old boy option.
Wednesday May 6, GL Burlington
5 minutes elliptical
10 minutes mobility
DL
I spent a while working on DL per MM’s suggestion. I went light and leaned back with my toes up. I did a couple of complete reps and then just pulled it to my knees. I found that very hard on my glutes and hamstrings. I played with set up and will be posting two videos. The first is a lower set up and I’m squatting the weight up more. The second is higher, more my typical set up.
A 9x5x135
B Reverse DB lunges
3x6x30
C Pallof Press
3x10x35/side
D Chest supported row
3x10x45
E1 Inverted rows
3x10
E2 Scapular Push ups
3x10
The entire workout was interspersed with assorted tomfoolery starting with my boyfriend getting kissed by Court and I at the same time. He also felt the need to stand right in front of me for a while while I was deadlifting so his crotch was at head height when I started to pull. Happily, that’s not on video.
Second DL video with the more typical higher set up. On both of these I had my toes up and felt like I was pulling back into it.
First video of truncated deadlift with lower setup. More squatting the bar up.
Your mechanics look good-
nice work
I think I like you in those long socks too…
last time you had bent over shrug guy
now you have
dude in the cable thingy doing low cable leg raises
2nd vid you have rounded back on chest supported row which in itself is kind of amazing.
backround video people are awesome…

That looked like a good training session, and yeah, interesting people in the background again.

Funny, I never noticed him until he was pointed out. It isn’t nearly as classic as one of SteelyD squatting with the smith machine 1/4 squatter in the back ground.

Or Annoying Stretchy Guy. I didn’t even post the videos of the gym employees having a discussion standing right next to the bar I was deadlifting, or the old guy who came over and told me I was gonna ruin my knees doing that (deadlifting)… All in the same night!

Well after that I noticed your form is much, much better than mine. I must be learning disbaled in regards to deadlifts.

That’s very kind of you but I have a lot of work to do. I’m squatting again tomorrow night. I’m going to do my level best to capture someone really fucking spazzy in the background. That’s my new short term goal.
Nice shoes.haha
Just make sure your not the spazz

It could be a contest. Who can get the spazziest guy in the background.
I should warn you though that there is an uber spazzy guy at my gym who is a cross between Apu on the Simpsons and Jack Skelington from A Nightmare before Christmas.
So I have an ace in the hole so to speak.

So to speak indeed.
I’ll do one with Court in the background. We can all mock her, then I’ll hide
Maybe I’ll try to get the young couple that stretches in tandem. He’s pretty built and looks like he’s teaching her but when they stretch, they look like a synchronised stretch team. Very odd.

I don’t believe you’ve seen Shadow Boxer dude or Old Guy that puts his back into every movement and it looks like his limbs are going to tear off dude. They’re special.
Shadow Boxer was there Wednesday…not sure if you noticed him.
