A Cheerful Misanthrope

Nice session kiddo!

So… squatin’ heavy?

Here is DL. I can’t remember what set it was. It felt good but I"m surprised to see how much rounding I’m getting in my mid/lower back as I get more tired. I guess I know one more thing I need to focus on.

I was focusing on spreading the floor with my feet and driving through with my hips. My attempt to fuck the bar looks more like a gentle romance. I’m surprised Barry White isn’t playing in the background.

Squat video. Shorts are longer. I cut of a set of capris.

This is set 4 of 5, doing 4 doubles (clusters) 165 lbs. I did the same thing getting under the bar again 7-8 seconds after racking it. I took my time setting up and went a bit slower. My knees didn’t cave as much as before but my elbows could be farther forward. I caught myself most times extending my neck. It felt better today.

I sure am. Wanna make out?

I was just thinking that maybe my deadlifts were impacted by the assload of squat volume. Of well. I’ll just focus more next time.

Sometimes the bar just wants to make love and sometimes the bar needs to be fucked.

Either way, I don’t think the bar minds…

Squats were looking better!

Thanks. The squats are feeling much better. I may start wearing my wrist wraps because I’m feeling a lot more stress on them now.

I hear you about the bar. I told it I would call. I lied. Hit it and quit it

Boo Boo!!! Other than that, nice session.

As for the rounding on the deads, you were starting very deep in the squat position, so that may have been part of the rounding.

I think I was just bagged and was losing focus. I don’t think I can walk and chew gum. I watched that clip a bunch of times. I focused so much on hips and spread the ground that I forgot to do my higher set up. Next Sunday I’ll take a check list.

What the fuck is the guy beside you doing? It looks like the bastard child of a threesome between a SLDL, BB Rows, and BB shrugs.

I know I should have been looking at your form and realizing that except for the slight round ing like you mentioned you have a great deadlift. But you know what I was looking at? Your bright red shoes. I had to watch it twice just to try to watch the lift. Then of course I got distracted by the guy behind you…hmmm… no idea…

Don’t be a hater Joe. We all have our own special way of making love to the bar

The shoes are pretty bright. I get lots of comments on them. I got them at Payless for $30. They’re perfect for deadlift because the sole is kind of like a wrestling shoe. They only had them in red.

I like the shoes!
and naturally I prefrred the other shorts.
but hey what can you do.

I think your dead looks good really good- particularly after that much squatting -

the only think I can offer is to turn your feet out even more- as if your heels are facing each other- but they looked very solid.

Squats look good, too, and yes improved since last session.

nice work…

Thanks puppet man. I do need to focus on my back though, what with being middle aged and all. The nice thing is that in January '08, I couldn’t pull that for a single, never mind 5 sets of 5.

I’ve noticed that most of the deadlifting in this forum is done sumo style. Why is that? Your deadlift video did look good though.

I want to come back in my next life as an Olympic Bar.

I like the shoes… and the shorts are ok… pretty long though.

For what I know (which is little) but have personally experienced, for myself when deadlifting after squat my “midback” becomes fatigued causing it to round slightly, but they are usually D.E. DL’s so the weight and injuries are not that worrisome.

Those “clusters” are interesting… never heard of 'em before.

Can you do those with deadlifts? Then I can call them “cluster fucks”?

PS- will know about Belle River this week

The clusters are from the Maximum strength template. I’m finding them interesting but a bit tiring. For squat it at least give me the opportunity practice walk out and set up a shit load. I walked it out over 20 times yesterday morning. It’s good practice for me because I tend to unrack and fuck around dancing with the bar for a while draining energy.

For bench I don’t like it because bench set up takes a ton of energy and I really feel it in my back.

My deads weren’t speed but they weren’t super heavy either. I just need to focus more.

Yesterday knocked me on my ass for sure.

I can’t answer for anyone else but I prefer sumo bacause it gets me closer to the bar so there is less distance to lock out. In addition, it allows me to use my hips more which, for me, adds strength. I just feel like I’m in a more advantaged position.

Cool. Although I am not focusing on squat at this point in time, I may incorporate those next training cycle.

I bet it knocked you on your ass. Don’t use too much of that cream, you won’t have an ass to get knocked on to.

To add to that, I think as women we are stronger in our lower bodies typically and sumo gives you much more leg drive to pull with than back. Since I’ve switched to sumo, unless I pull a ton of reps, I rarely feel it in my low/mid back…just my glutes, hips and upper back. With conventional, my entire back would be sore for days!
