were you pulling sumo there?

Yes I am. I just changed back to that recently.
In the video it looks like the weight isn’t touching the floor at each rep but it did touch.
ok, good…I was going to call the not touching the floor police…your lucky!!
I visited the chiropractor this morning to work on my hips. I told him that my left should is now a piece of shit. He checked me out.
Happily it isn’t an injury but a weakness in my lower traps that is manifesting itself as pain in my shoulder. I now have an exercise for that and hopefully it will clear up as quickly as the other issue. This time I was treated to some extremely painful fingers in my armpit.
After that, I got the hands in the pants while being told that I’m very strong. Those 5 seconds were better than my entire date last weekend.
Ouro,
Here’s your motivation for the day (as if you need it).

The final list is up. Both the women that placed ahead of you in Niagara are going, it’s time for vengeance!!!

Actually, I just was looking at that list. I will only be competing against Maureen because Janet is M2 and they split the age classes in Championships. I am on Maureen’s heels. She will still be ahead of me on bench but I think I can overtake her on squat and deadlift. Regardless, it will be close. I’m glad she will be there. She’s a good lifter and it’s nice to have someone to chase.

You have some sick skillz at lurking. I didn’t even know you were there.
Thanks for the compliment. I was pretty happy about it. I can’t wait to hit 300.[/quote]
I should just stop lurking… I lurk a little everywhere here,
its a good way to learn.
Nice sumo pulls, good form.
is your shoulder thing opposite the hip that was bothering you?
sometimes they travel together.
If it is what is your opposite (same as hip) ankle like

My shoulder is the same side as the hip that was bothering me. Apparently I have a weak lower trap leading to muscle imbalances in my shoulder. Neither of my issues was an injury. They were both results of weak muscles creating a chain reaction of pain.
The lower body is weak lower abs causing my lower back to over contract, meaning my glutes weren’t activating so that my quads were taking too much of the load on the bottem of the squat. My quads (particularly on my left side) felt like knives in them. With a few easy exercises, it seems to have settled down.
We all use the same chiropractor and he is at all the meets. We may have him deified.
Thanks for the compliment on the sumo pulling. I’m glad I switched. It’s much easier for me.
Tuesday March 10, Gym
Warm up with glute activation and hip stretching.
Squat
45x10
95x5
135x5
155x3
195x1 (suit on straps down)
210x5x3 (suit on straps up)
This took me forever because I wrapped for all the sets at 210 and I haven’t wrapped myself in a while. I was a complete and utter wraptard. I think on Thursday night I’ll just practice wrapping.
Good mornings
45x10
95x5
135x5
155x5
175x3x5
Seated cable rows (According to the article on defective benching, I should be throwing more horizontal rowing into the mix) See I read the articles and don’t just look at the pictures.
75x12
75x2x10
I didn’t bench today because my shoulder is still bothering me and I tried to stick to stuff that didn’t irritate it too much.
Chins
1x13
1x5
I finished off with some pelvic tilts, lying arm raises to strengthen my lower traps.
Today I got to share the rack with a quarter squatter. Next to us was a guy doing 95lb deadlifts with wraps.
When I got home, I did more figure 8s and arm raises lying on the coffee table.
Thursday I’m supposed to bench and deadlift again. I may skip it depending on the state of my shoulder.
I know what you mean by it taking forever when you have a lot of sets to do and have to re-roll and wrap each time. In my hot gym it’s a great cardio workout. I tried leaving the wraps on between sets once, but my feet lost all feeling in them.
Go easy on the shoulder, just a few weeks left to go. Did you reserve the shuttle?

Not yet. I will do it tomorrow. Today was crazy.
Somewhere out there is a guy complaining about the chick at the gym who dragged the incline bench over to the rack so she could sit on it just to wrap her knees. I’ll go check the squat rack curls thread.
LOL, that’s the advantage of being an employee. I can put stuff where I want. And if I’m even standing near the squat rack, guys ask me if they can do a set of pull-ups. I got some gangster respect lately.
I noticed today that 2 very good lifters have dropped down to the 60kg class for the Nats. Fuck, I was hoping for a competitive Wilk’s total.

Who dropped down? I guess I don’t pay much attention to other weight classes.
I have no hope of having a comparatively good wilks. Heather Ayles is in my weight class in open. She’s a very strong lifter. Last year I believe she totaled 418 (not wilks so 500ish wilks) at one meet.
Last night I was chatting with one of the Niagara guys and his advice is to train 1-2 kg over weight class and drop water in the last few days. His said he thought my lifts would improve if I do that. Do any of the ladies who have been competing for a while have any comments on this advice? Is he correct?
I don’t know if it makes a big difference because I’m always 2-3lbs over before a meet. If hormones get in your way the week before…well look at my weight going into Niagara. It’s a pain to drop water. I think I’d rather just get down to 130 and maintain it.
The girls who dropped down are Kacey from my gym and Mel Durrant (sp?). They were both 67.5 before.

Mel is a good lifter, if I remember correctly shes totaled elite before and should be close to that if shes 60kg. Plus she lives in SK so she’s got no jet lag working against her.
Thursday March 12, Gym
Bench
45x10
65x5
95x3
105x2
100x2
95x2
95x2
95x5 with pause on last rep (barely)
80x10 with pause
I kept bench short and light because my left shoulder is still giving me a bit of grief. I mostly focused on technique and set up. It was more of a mental exercise.
Deadlift
135x5
175x3
205x2
235x1 suit on straps up
255x1 "
265x5x1 This will be my opener and I futzed around with setup. Some I did with my feet by the plates, some with my shins just outside the rings and some just inside.
I’ll play around with this a bit more but right now the best seems to be legs just outside the rings and feet about 6" from the plates. My feet at the plates is a bit harder to break off the floor but with a shorter ROM. It’s still pretty easy at 265 but for my third it might be too much.
Squat
45x10
95x5
135x5
155x6x1
It wasn’t a squat day but to continue the more mental theme, I practiced my walk out with 155. It clearly wasn’t to get used to heavier weight but more practicing not fucking around when I walk it out.
I tend to dance too much setting up and I lose energy doing it. I just practiced taking 1 step back, setting up and squatting, saying all the commands in my head.
Unrelated to training:
When I got home from the gym last night I had three messages from my tenants girl friend saying she wanted to come over to the house to get some of her stuff out of his apartment like her television, fur coat and some clothes.
In the super long, rambling message she said he’d been denied bail, she was living in a shelter and when he was there, she was living with him.
He wasn’t denied bail according to other sources. Regardless, I’m disinclined to let her in the house. By her actions she has already proven herself to be untrustworthy. I have only her word to go on that some of the items belong to her. Legally, I don’t think I should let her in either.
I believe she has a key because she said she didn’t want to just come in without me being there.
I have blocked access to the apartment from the outside so she cannot get in if she has a key. When I speak with her, I’m going to recommend she speak with the police or a lawyer because I won’t let her in. She has no legal access because she isn’t on the lease and was told by me, point blank, that she wasn’t to move in. I will also let her know that if she tries to get into the apartment, I’ll be the one calling the police.
Am I being harsh? I just think I could have legal difficulties of my own if I give her access. Plus she’s a nutter.

That is the best way to do it. If she gets the police to escort her in, you’re off the hook and if they won’t help her then you were right not giving her access in the first place.
Also, since he gave her the key, if she lets herself in without your knowledge/permission, it is his responsibility.
Just what you need before Nationals, eh.

So much for woman’s intuition on choosing this tenant ![]()
All jabbing aside, I think you’re right to not let her in. Regardless of if she has a key or not, it’s not her place and presumably she doesn’t have your tenant’s permission to enter. Therefore she’d be trespassing.
PS. I saw your friend from Niagara at Aras’ today. He was screaming like a banshee. I knew it was a PL’er right away and then I saw his jacket. He said to me after he came out “Julie’s really strong now”. I told him I knew. He suggested I do the Push/Pull put on by Power Pit in June… I might think about it and decide in the next few weeks.

I asked a couple people at work if I was being harsh. They agree with you on the trespassing thing. Plus she’s a crazy cunt.
Which friend from Niagara? I’m heading down tomorrow morning and Karen A. will be there as well.
