A Cheerful Misanthrope

This morning I spoke with the fellow that is advising me on my training. We talked for a bit about what I’m doing and gave his advice for the three weeks prior to the meet when I go heavy again.

He also, was very matter of fact about making worlds this year. We talked about my target total for nationals. He was in agreement that if I do compete at worlds, I should not do any meets between Moosejaw and worlds giving me six months to prepare.

I said that not only do I want to qualify now, I could reasonably hope to medal given the totals at the last few years for my weight class. It’s by no means a walk and I would have a shit ton of work to do but it’s achievable.

He also said I may want to consider going up a weight class. He told me he saw the attached picture and I’m too tall to compete at 56kg for long. I look like a giraffe next to the other two women.[/quote]

Stay out of my weight class!
You’ll do fine in Moosejaw, just don’t stress about it. What numbers do you need to beat?
The pics from Niagara are hilarious, what I’d do for a decent squat picture!

He didn’t mean for Moosejaw. He was thinking the next year or so.

The Niagara pictures are pretty damn fine. At least you don’t look like a midget… or a giraffe.

Yeah…but she also doesn’t look like spiderwoman like me

And for the record, Rugger looks like a dwarf, not a midget. His arms are too long for his short little legs to be proportionate (which is what a midget is…wikipedia it, I dare you). Ouro, you definitely look like a giraffe. It’s actually pretty funny.

I must say, your picture is the most special with the sideways thing going on.

Oh, and Rugger said he prefers little person…like we care, you short little bastard.

That’s the first thing I thought when I saw that picture. I was surprised this weekend that I was one of the taller women in my weight class, and I’m pretty short. Of course, the chick in the 67.5s who deadlifted 500 lbs was also a bit taller than me…

Is the air thin up there or something, I said “vertically challenged”! Maybe I should hire a sky writer to communicate with you.

Oh yeah, Court, I couldn’t even look at your deadlift pictures because they all showed those disgusting legs I’ve read about! Do something about them please.

Mock all you like but you’ll be laughing out the other side of your pie hole when I grow those cool fuzzy nub horns on my head that giraffes have. Besides, I may have giraffe legs but they still look kick ass in a pair of boots. Better than midget legs.

…how tall ARE you, darlin’?

She’s right around my height… she just looks giraffe like because she’s 2 weight classes below me (aka pretty much 30lbs) and all the women in her weight class are “vertically challenged” like our dear friend Rugger

…and your dear friend NeelyDan

You will not get an argument from me with regards to whom looks better in boots.

And the fuzzy horns thing, sounds pretty cool…however some folks may wonder if they should be pointy and red.

My flight to Regina is booked. I guess you can’t go direct to Moosejaw. Go figure.

The entire process was quite irritating. I tried to do it on-line because it’s cheaper. After being repeatedly turned back because something was wrong with the entered information, I called and booked with an agent. That right there is costing $40 more. What a piss off.

I can probably speak for NeelyDan and a few others when I say I kinda like going “straight to Regina.”

Those who are a tad more sophisticated, prefer Moose jaw. I makes the trip last longer. Unless you want a short direct, no fuss type trip.

Sophisticated ? ? ? ? I can probably count on one hand (and NOT a six-fingered one) how many times that word has been pronounced properly in my neck of the woods . . . .

I think the length of the trip depends on the price, anyway.

From the way I interpreted it, I’m pretty sure he just called you a prostitute…

However if that were the case, I’m sure you’d have figured out how to get a life sponser by now to pay for all your PL gear and meets

yeah, hello…

Not to mention my $700 hydro bill.

Maybe he just thinks I suck, but in a bad way.

Wednesday February 18, Gym

Todays training started off on the wrong foot when I discovered I’d forgotten my socks. Because I’m so tough, I wore barefeet in my squat shoes and now I have blisters.

Squat
45x10
95x5
135x3
145x5x5
I made all my sets today relatively easily. I still don’t think they are as explosive as they should be but they are fast for me.

Bench
45x10
65x5
95x5x5

Bench lockouts
125x2
After this, I couldn’t shift anything off the pins. I thought I’d come back to it after.

Bottom start squats
185x5 hip high
205x2x3 "

215x5 waist high
235x5 "
245x3 "

Bench lock outs
NOTHING. I even dropped the weight to 115 and could not budge it from the pins.

P Cleans
95x2x3
100x2x3
105x3x3
105x1x2

CG bench
45x10
95x3x8

My left shoulder is bothering me from straining on lock outs.

Since I was having a decent squat day, I finished off with more:
45x5
135x3
145x3x5

No, I’m not accusing anybody of prostitution, sucking in a bad way, or anything else negative. Just being a goofball, which, for me, is no stretch at all.

All joking, kidding, etc. aside, the hydro bill sucks some major rectum. I’d be pretty f*ckin’ pissed, too.
