Okay so I braved the snow storm and got back into it tonight and was very weak and tired.

I tried to move up to the 40 since I’ve been at 35 for months. It was a big fail but I’m going to hit it every time to push out more and build it up.

I honestly don’t really know what I’m doing with squat at the moment. This is a bastard version of the 5/3/1 ramp up with more volume thrown in just for shits and giggles. I don’t think it’s going to work.

I may drop the volume on Wed/Sun and add some lighter volume on Thursdays when I work on back. I really need some direction on this because I don’t want to stray too far from what’s worked for me with 8 weeks to nationals but I really think I do better with volume. If any of the experienced people here would like to step in with suggestions, I’m open.

This is about the time that I curled up in a ball and died. Not, however, before I mentally mocked the guy doing SLDL on a platform like he’s trying for a deficit but he never lowered the bar more than 3 inches below his knees. It’s cool what you notice when you’re flat out in a rack.

Then I got home and shovelled a shit ton of snow.

Your training looks like it went better than mine… I might be ready to train with you on Sunday - I’ve decided to take between now and then off. I’ll keep you posted.

I hope we can train together on Sunday. Matt emailed and said he’d help me out but who knows when I’ll be able to get together with him. My ex is out of the country so the kids are with me for 10 days starting tomorrow.

In the mean time, I’ve been using my work time wisely and researching peaking cycles. I found one I like for squat and DL. However, squat has me finishing with a triple at 220 on Sunday. I shouldn’t have any problems but I’d feel better with a partner there.

Plus, it’s just more fun to do it together.

I can probably be coerced into doing something on Sunday. Unless I magically start feeling human again, I’ll just go really light. But I’ll definitely be around to spot you and such. Besides, I still have Hoi’s knee wrap tucker thingy :slight_smile: Might as well use that while we can! Hahahaha.

It has a plastic handle almost like what we used to use to tighten skate laces. Attached in the middle of the handle is a light gauge rope loop. When you are on the last turn of the wrap, you lay the tightener loop against your knee, wrap once around it, put the wrap end through the loop and then use it to pull the loop through the wrap. That way, you don’t have to leave the last loop a bit loose to pull it through or wreck your fingers.

I tried to find a drawing program at work but we don’t have one. I’m not sure where to get them or if Hoi fashioned his own. It wouldn’t be that hard to make. It does help give hella tight wraps.

I was thinking about Hoi’s puller. I may see if I can make a couple for us. It isn’t like it’s rocket science. I can get some wooden or thick plastic dowling at Home Depot and the appropriate gauge rope, drill a hole, secure the rope and bob’s your uncle. I’ll take a close look at his on Sunday. Maybe we can sell some on T-Nation and retire young off the proceeds of Court and Julie’s wrap puller thingy ™.

The nice thing about Home Depot is that you can often get them to do the work for you drilling and sawing and such.
