A Cheerful Misanthrope

Hey Julie!

Hell of a great performance yesterday, from you and Court. It was awesome to meet all you guys and thanks for putting up with me for 2 days. Me casa su casa, my friend.

Personally, I need some redemption. Mark thinks I should go to the Nationals, did you send in your application? I need some details…
Even with my big huge bomb of a day, it was a blast and we need to get together again SOON.

I think Mark is right and you should go to Nationals. I haven’t sent mine in yet. I can’t find the application on the CPU site. I’d love to go together.

Besides, I’m going for records and you have to let them know in advance so they can have the pee cups handy.

I loved having you here. I especially appreciated your input on Mediteranean men. I had dinner this evening with the ex but crapped out early. I wasn’t into checking out his hot tub.

I found an entry form by googling “Canadian National Power Lifting Meet 2009” it’s a downloadable link to a .doc.

The fee is 125$, including the pee test, which is not optional. Rooms at the Heritage Inn are 108$ and we would be lifting on Thursday April 2.
I’m thinking this is a plan, but the airfare is going to be around 400$. Might be checking out the Greyhound schedule, although that would suck. It takes 2 days by train, I asked when I booked my tickets for this past weekend, just out of curiosity.

Re: Mediterranean genetics. Anythhing I can do to help, LOL.

Yeah, I was completely wiped yesterday and I’m still pretty sore today.

As for a next meet, I may do the April one in St. Thomas.

So what did you end up doing for your final attempts?
I ended up going 150/110/175, for a 435kgs total in the 82.5kgs class. I went 8/9 on the day and if they gave an award for the longest isometric hold, I would have been a candidate on my 3rd bench attempt (112kgs). I touched really high on my chest and it came up about 4 inches and just stopped. I don’t think the bar moved again until the head judge told the spotter to take it!

Those Niagara guys are funny, the guy that helping the newbies like myself with attempts skipped my second bench attempt numbers and jumped to my third (110 was going to be my third). So after my first (100kgs) went up easy I’m walking down and he has already written 110 on the sheet then says to me, “you’re going straight to 110, you’ll get it, if not…oh boy!” then walks away.

Redemption is good! Looking forward to hearing that you’ve signed up (says the guy not paying the expenses).

ouroboro_s,
The records and Master class will definitely be yours at Nationals. The only problem I see is you being able to hit the cup! Based on your excitement last weekend, I could see you being unable to sit still long enough to give a sample and then having the record declined on a technicality.

That’s pretty funny and now I have something new to worry about. Thanks a lot. I do kind of get like an overstimulated puppy bouncing around. Either that or the squirrel from Ice Age. That’s what happens to me when I have adrenalin shooting out my eyeballs. I guess everyone reacts differently. You looked pretty calm and chill about everything.

Good job on the isometric hold on bench by the way. I wonder if it was Matt submitting your attempts.

Calm? Ah no, I don’t think I sat down from 6:30am until my name was called in the line up for my first squat attempt! Then I sat down because I was shaking too much. Fortunately I’m usually able to hide my nervousness

Congrats Ouroboro! I’m glad the meet went so well. It sounds like you guys had a lot of fun too.

So I am a little late to the party… but you rock! Seriously, you made all those lifts look EASY! You will have no problem catching the 1st place chick… she better watch out! =D

Now take a little time to relax and then get back to work!!! =-D

This made me laugh…that is my son EXACTLY…we call him ‘hammie.’ :stuck_out_tongue: And he does act like a puppy too, he crawls around and bites our ankles, LOL!!!

When I had to pee in a cup, I was so dehydrated it took me FOREVER, sitting on the toilet and chatting with the girl…

“Wait! Shhh! …No, false alarm…”

Under normal circumstances, I excel at peeing in cups and stuff. Maybe I could pee on my socks again and just give them a soppy one of those.

It’s only a few weeks until your next one right? Is it nationals in Feb. or is that later?

Yep, Nationals is Feb 14-15. I’ll be lifting in the morning on the 15th. Starting to get the butterflies!

Nice lifting yesterday ouroboro_s!

Thanks for the introductions yesterday. Even Court isn’t as much of a bitch as she seems online, unless someone forgets to toast her begal!

FWIW, Court really is pretty mean. She was on her good behaviour and the bagel incident is only the tip of the iceberg. She does, however, kick ass at lifting.
Rugger - don’t go telling people that or I’ll lose my bad-bitch persona  Bartl has a calmed effect on me - ouro’s right, I am really pretty mean and was on good behaviour. Plus, my best friend’s mom was there and I can’t be a total bitch in front of her.

As for the bagel incident… I asked for it toasted with butter. I felt like I hadn’t eaten for weeks so when they arrived after being gone for like an hour and he had to go back up to the room to even get my bagel, OF COURSE I was unhappy with the lack of toasting. My favorite part was that it would have been okay, but everyone reacted so similarly when I said it was fine that Bartl grabbed it out of my hand and went and toasted it and got butter for it somewhere.

amazing work!! u’ve really progressed a ton this past year. congrats and best of luck at nationals!!

I’d like to think that if I sold my soul for power lifting I’d get a better total than 666 lbs. I mean, it is respectable but it’s not soul selling good.

Maybe you could stand Beelzebub on his head and total 999. Would that be worth it??

Hmmm I wonder if WADA has a test for “Satanic Influence.”

It was a pleasure to handle you; you had everything very well planned out, and your attempts were spot-on.

All I really had to do was hand in numbers, part crowds, and keep telling you, “Yes, you really are this strong.”

Good lifting!

Maybe that would work. How about I stand you on your head ?

Fine; long as you don’t have one of your “bladder control” incidents!!

Don’t ‘dark side’ meets have heavy satanic influence in addition to that devil’s music all the kids are listening to today?

It was a pleasure being handled by you  Seriously it was a huge help even just for confidence.

Last night I sat down and sketched a training template to take me up to nationals worked back from where I see my attempts there based on Saturday’s performance.

Having someone the handle you is a big thing to me and right now I’m trying to connect with one of the women that was at the meet to get her input about the atmosphere at nationals. I’ll likely be there handlerless and need to see how easy it is to dragoon someone into doing what you did for me particularly getting me into my shirt. She appeared to be alone at Niagara and seemed to do fine.

As for being well prepared, I’m a bit of a geek. I’m all about the anal retentive spreadsheets. At night, I solve murders using an excel program.
