A Cheerful Misanthrope

Way to back off your training. Why don’t you knit me a scarf if you’re bored. The way I see it is if you get super bored, by the time the meet comes around you’ll be dying to get under the bar and will put up huge numbers.

It’s just like when you haven’t had sex for a while…if you know you’re getting it in a week, waiting for it feels like forever but when you finally get it, it’s unreal.

A week??? Didn’t you read when I posted on someone elses log that I’m not getting laid? I’m getting all twitchy and irritable.

I actually would knit a scarf though. I’ve run out of people to make them for. I enjoy the repetitive nature of it for some reason. I find it pretty zen.
I know you’re not getting laid, so maybe I should have used an example you would understand. I guess I was just trying to rub it in…

Knit me a scarf then. Black would be nice. My grandmother just sent me a pink one which is fine, but it doesn’t match my jacket I wear to work.

Very impressive squatting. Haven’t been in here in a while and the progress is easy to see.

Great work!
Thanks very much. I appreciate the compliment. Part of the progress is due too the use of gear though. I’m not even sure what my raw squat is any more. I may test it after the upcoming meet. I definitely have gotten stronger, I just don’t know by how much.

and in unrelated news I received a notice from Hydro that I have high water usage. What this means is that my house is hemorhaging water somewhere.

I called hydro and they were very helpful. I made an appointment with my tenant because the water meter is in his place. I looked at the low flow indicator and watched it spin out of control. It could have three sources:

  • toilet tank is running
  • apartment bathroom fawcet cracks open periodically
-exterior hose fawcet was never closed in the fall

I think its the fawcet because in the last few months I’ve noticed hot water has been scarce and it’s a hot water fawcet.

Now I need a plumber. The good thing is that hydro actually lets you know when this is going on and when it’s fixed, you can apply to get the money back from the excess water usage.

If it’s not one thing its another. In October it was $300 for the furnace. 18 months ago it was $7,000 for a flooded basement that I’m still financially recovering from. The list goes on.

It puts me in mind of the thread about whether it’s worthwhile for men to marry now and all the attendent stories about ex wives living the lives of Riley with manicures and such. I’m happy if I get consistent heat and hot water some days.

In related stuff, I’m finding it very freaking hard to drink 6 litres of water a day during a cold snap.

I went out at lunch to get gas (it’s approx. -20) and I was shaking so hard my back hurts now.

I’m sure it’ll seem much nicer to do in July.

If it helps I could use some soft knit caps for Chemo  – but only if it helps.

I keep meaning to learn how to knit something other than a scarf. Right now I can only knit in a straight line. One year I actually knit a whole load of ‘fashion’ type scarves for my daughter’s school for the charity Christmas tree.

“Very slow” - if by this you mean you could measure most easily in millimeters per second, then yes, I will agree with that.

It was pretty funny.

Even though I went home after training last night and ate again I weighed 54.3 kg this morning.

I ate more yesterday than I have in a long time. I made an extra huge bowl of oatmeal this morning for breakfast but I need to get the weight up a bit.

I think it’s due to non-training related stress in my life at the moment. I’m not exactly to most mellow, zen person around and when there is stress in my life, I think my reaction to it speeds my metabolism up to fruit fly levels.

EAT!!

Haha just kidding Ouro…kinda… I dropped 4lbs last week and I was super stressed about school, so I know what you mean. I just plan on harrassing you this week since the Niagara guys aren’t around to do it.

If I believe Hoi, all I need is more bacon in my diet. If it keeps dropping, I’ll end up competing at 52kg. I don’t think it will. I plan to run to Fortino’s and fill my bacon and related pork products prescription.

Good Luck at your upcoming meet! You are lifting BIG NUMBERS!!! Seriously… I outweigh you by a good 40 lbs and I think you would kick my ass in a meet! =D

Keep it up!

Thanks very much for the encouragement. I don’t think I’d be beating you. I’ve watched some of your videos. I started doing more rack pulls after I watched the one of you with 405

Yesterday, in an effort to leave the house as little as possible, I rented a couple of videos. I watched ‘Pineapple Express’. It is funny as hell. It’s my favourite recent movie. I loved everything about it but then again I have the sense of humour of a 12 year old boy.

If I knew you were renting hilarious movies I would have invited myself over! lol. I died during that movie. It’s really quite funny.

I had to run errands yesterday since I’m playing ‘mom’ this weekend while my parents are away. I’m so not ready to play mom… especially to a super bratty 18 year old… lol

Sunday Jan. 18, Gym (new one)

Bench
45x10
65x5
90x5
100x3
110x1
90x5 with pause on last rep
80x10 with pause on last rep

CG Bench
80x3x8

DB Bench
35x3x8

Squat
45x10
95x5
135x5
155x3

Chin ups
1x14 - this is the most consecutive reps for me.
1x8
1x6

This was my first day training at the new gym alone. I must admit the scenery was very nice. I’m all about the hardcorishness of powerlifting but the pretty boys feel nice on my eyes.

When I got home, my driveway was plowed in so today’s GPP was shovelling out. My arms really hate me now. Normally, I may ignore the snow and let it melt but the plow in drift was so high and thick, there was no way I could mow through it with the van.

So Court, I’m trying to find out who is the guy that was deadlifting with straps on Friday night in Niagara. I think someone called him Jay.

I’d like him to sex this chick. I emailed someone who may know but I haven’t heard anything. Maybe I should have couched it in training terminology.

ROFLMAO
Desperate times, my friend.
I could hook you up in a minute here in Montreal. My gym is full of sex starved men, or so you’d think by the comments I overhear.

Im so lost anymore…you guys are like in your own world now.

‘sexing this chick,’ is that an inside phrase or something? LOL!
