A Cheerful Misanthrope

Congrats on your PR, but I’m sure that will be surpassed in no time

I didn’t tell her she can. I told her to do it. hahaha.

She didn’t mention that she was practising her lamaze (sp?) breathing techniques during the wrapping of her knees… just wait til tomorrow…it’ll be much much worse, I promise![/quote]

I’m actually looking forward to that tomorrow. If your experience is anything to go by, having them wrap my knees should help put up even better numbers. I’m generally okay with pain. It was the thought that I would have to move my kneecaps back to the front of my legs that I was having the issue with.

Congrats on your squat PR

I train in a family gym and just wear a sports bra when putting on my shirt.

Thanks very much. I may end up doing that because it was hot as hell last night. However, it was my first time at that gym and it was full of the new year’s people. I’m sure it was quite enough that they saw me hang by my suit from the smith machine.

I was very excited by the PR because it was sooo easy. It was my first time using the Centurion and I love it. I ended up with a size 32. I could probably fit a 30 but will leave it at the 32 for now. The fit is much different than the Z suit and seems a bit easier to get on in some spots and harder in others.

That makes sense. I forgot about the new year resolutioners. We keep having ice storms so not many new years people that dedicated to make it to the gym.

I’m glad you found a squat suit you like. It is so hard for women to find gear that fits.

Friday January 9, Niagara PL Club, St. Catharine’s

Court and I had another field trip today and I had a blast. The point of the trip for me was to work more with my bench shirt and new squat suit with people more experienced with equipment. I’m very glad I went and came back with many bruises and great information and a huge confidence boost.

Bench:
45x1
65x5
90x3
100x1
Shirt on:
125x1 - 3 boards
125x1 - 2 boards
125x1 - 1 board
125x1 - chest
130x1 "
135x1 "
120x1 with signals/pause
125x3x1 with signals/pause

This is great for my confidence and comfort on using the shirt. We worked on my arm spacing and it was suggested that because my arms are so long that I use as wide a grip as possible with my index fingers on the rings. I was surprised at the difference that made.

Squat
45x10
95x5
135x5 suit on straps down
135x3 suit on straps down
165x1 "
195x1 suit on straps up

230x1 " On this rep my knees were wrapped by the head of the Niagara club to ‘medium’ tight. He put the weight on the bar and I just squatted it. It was easy. PR!

245x0 " My knees were again wrapped by one of the guys. Much tighter this time. I failed but it was an awkward positioning thing. Rather than unwrap and unsuit, I asked them to set it again…

245x1 " PR!! This is a big one for me. It was heavy but not a grind. The guy said he was surprised that mentally I could get under it without resting after a failed PR and push it out.

He thinks I’m mentally tough. That’s a nice spin on what my parents always called stubborn and awkward.

DL
135x5x1
225x2x1
235x1x1
255x1x1 This was my max in Ottawa and it was easy.

I think I may push 280 or 285 in Niagara. We worked on better positioning. Because I have such long legs, when I get low to the bar, I end up pulling around my knees. I set up higher and pulled more with my back and it came up like nothing.

The whole evening was a confidence booster but right now I feel like I’ve been whacked in the head I’m so tired.

Also, I was told to gain a pound or two. I weighed 55.2 this morning.

That’s right…75 chin ups!!! My fore arms feel like rock.

I also paid my 14 year old daughter to do 4 chin ups. My going rate is 25 cents a chin.

I watched Judge Judy while I did the pressing and curling. She’s quite the hard ass. Some little chiquita got quite a strip torn off her.

Today was a back focus but with gearing down for the meet in 10 days. When I look at the volume. It doesn’t look like much of a gear down. I find it hard to pull back. And boring.

Friday night Court and I are heading to Niagara again for a final training session. I’ll be focusing on final work with my shirt and heavy walk outs. They think my final squat attempt should be 255 but that I could do better if I wanted to. I haven’t had much time with heavy weight on my back and it gives me a bit of a panic even though I know I can squat more than the 245 I did last week.

Yep, doesn’t look like a slow down to me either!
Are you guys in the deep freeze there too, it was -26 plus wind chill here today.
No squatting tonight, it’ll have to wait one more day. I finally got what we were discussing last night, with a vengeance.
10 more days…my new CPU card better get here soon!

Yeah we’re in a deep freeze too but according to the radio, it’s worse where you are. It still sucks here no doubt.

I can hardly wait for an update from you. I thought you were trying it out last night. I was disappointed where there was no email status on how it worked this morning.

Edit: I just realised you weren’t talking about the squat suit. Duh.

deep freeze indeed…i hate when my nostrils stick together :frowning:

I hate it when I blink and my lids get stuck to my eyeballs. Kind of like licking the metal post…but on your face.

Hey ND, I’m joining your gym. The one you go to in Burlington where Court works out. Well actually I’m joining at the Upper James one but getting the package so I can train wherever. You may see me stalking you someday soon.

oooo the sticky lids! i forgot about that one…good call - do they make lid warmers?

so, you’re joining goodlife eh? good, that joint needs some more girl power, me and todd can only produce so much

upper james is closest to where you are? i guess with the link eh?

im downtown at union station monday through friday, but i do pop in on occasion on saturdays to do whatever i happened to miss out on during the week - this saturday included, i think

you will fall under the spell of my dundas blues captain’s jersey with the rest of them…it’s scent is irresistable, it’s like fucking high karate that shit

Actually the downtown one is closest to me but that would entail… well, going downtown.

The Upper James one is nice and has great racks in it plus a guy to tell us that we should bench without an arch.

oh no no no…i meant downtown toronto…if you are talking about downtown hamilton, there is no gym good enought to warrant a trip down to that little nest

LOL, that’s pretty funny. I just felt like lying down and putting myself out of my misery last night. The upside is now I can start dropping the bloat, I’m down a pound this morning.
I’ll send you a message just as soon as I get back from the gym tonight and give you a status update on the suit.

Way to back off your training. Why don’t you knit me a scarf if you’re bored. The way I see it is if you get super bored, by the time the meet comes around you’ll be dying to get under the bar and will put up huge numbers.

It’s just like when you haven’t had sex for a while…if you know you’re getting it in a week, waiting for it feels like forever but when you finally get it, it’s unreal.

Very impressive squatting. Haven’t been in here in a while and the progress is easy to see.

Great work!

A week??? Didn’t you read when I posted on someone elses log that I’m not getting laid? I’m getting all twitchy and irritable.

I actually would knit a scarf though. I’ve run out of people to make them for. I enjoy the repetitive nature of it for some reason. I find it pretty zen.
