The boy says (and I quote) “Tell Julie she does not need a bench shirt”… so, you’ve been told lol.

We were chatting about my order I’m placing and I said I was waiting for confirmation from you. That was his response.

Tell him he doesn’t need his bench shirt or squat suit and that he can bite me.

Did you call him up? That must have just about made his day. He’ll be dreaming about you tonight.

Ha. No. He added me on msn. It pretty much made his night anyway. He seemed sad that you didn’t call him tonight cuz usually you do on Sundays apparently. I said you probably had better things to do.

I also said I felt unloved by the two of you and your marathon phone sessions… he said he’d call me sometime to make me feel better haha. He’s also concerned about how my back feels and wants me to let him know how physio goes tomorrow.

The poor kid. Has heartbreak written all over it. I even mentioned the word “Boyfriend” tonight but his eyes must have glazed right over it. Oh well.

Oh and he’s finally approved of my pink belt. Not that that was going to deter me anyways, but I think he’s finally settled on the fact that even though I lift heavy shit I like girly things like pink. It probably turns him on. [/quote]

I bet it does turn him on. The pink belt I mean.

I honestly don’t know if I’d be going to him for advice on equipment. If he really gave it some thought, he could probably give advice. However, to put his ‘thinky’ abilities into perspective, he comes to me, Pete and whoever else will listen for equipment advice. He requires quite a bit of instruction, guidance and full-on orders to make it through the day. He probably knows more than he thinks but seems to require everyone elses approval.

This means he probably also has heartbreak written all over him. If you tell him what to do, he will probably follow you off the edge of a cliff. Someday, he will make some really bossy woman a great husband as long as she doesn’t need him to think for himself

I’ll give you his phone number and go can totally blow his skirts up. I had called to find out what Bill said about the squat suit after we left but no doubt it was something else in his head

Ya I’m not all that concerned about what he has to say. The only thing I’m holding off on is straps because I like the ones of Pete’s I’ve been borrowing and he thinks I can get them in Ottawa. If not, I will order when I get back from there.

Not to get too deep here on your log, but I don’t think it’s necessarily his ‘thinky powers’ that are the issue. I think he just needs the reassurance since he’s at the age where confidence is either supremely lacking or sky high. Something a relationship with an older woman can provide cough Ouroboro cough.

And no, I am not calling him. I had a stalker back in my younger days and am not in the mood to relive those…

Monday Nov. 3: Home

OH Press
65x3x6
65x1x5
65x1x3

BB Curls
50x1x14
50x2x9
50x1x7

Fr raises
30x10
30x8
30x9
I used my 30lb kettlebell for this and it felt much more awkward than holding a plate.

Skull crushers
35x1x17
40x2x13

I really dislike this day. I need to think of something to switch things up a bit like an alternative to OH press. I often do this day at home because I don’t need any big equipment for it and I’ve kind of sunk into a rut.

On the fun side, I impressed my kids with how pumped my arms were. My 8 year old said my biceps looked like someone on t.v.

Here’s a question for anyone that can answer it. Who is familiar with exercise induced amenorrhea?

I would ask my doctor about this but I think she is borderline retarded plus I’m lazy and think I’m likely to get better general information here.

The reason I’m asking is that it’s been 8 weeks since my last period and no sign of it. Last time there was 8 weeks between as well. I have gotten fairly lean but I don’t think I’m at the super lean state that it should affect me. I really have no idea what my bf is at the moment.

It could be age. I’m 44 in a couple of weeks but generally in perimenopause cycles shorten.

Any information or anecdotal experience would be appreciated.

Maybe you’re pregnant.

Isn’t that the opinion you offered me not too long ago for something else? lol

From what I have seen in your pictures you are lean but not superstopyourperiod lean. You seem early to be starting menopause unless it is something that runs early in your family. My best guess would be hyperthyroid, amenorrhea is a major symptom. Have you had any moments of racing heartbeat for no reason, insomnia or very tired, been aggitated for no reason? If you did mention it to your doctor she would probably want to run some blood tests. Also it might not be a bad idea to get your bodyfat checked just incase.

You are hilarious. That would actually be my first thought if I were partaking in activities that would result in pregnancy.

My knowledge of biology may be rusty but I’m pretty sure the solo types of activities still can’t get you pregnant. Unless it’s immaculate conception and that would bring an entirely new set of problems.

I may actually have to bite the bullet and go to my doctor. I just think she’s an idiot. The last time I went for a series of symptoms ranging from memory blanks to numb hands and being freezing cold, she gave me a pamplet on depression. I was depressed… about having such a retarded doctor.

Of the above symptoms you’ve described, the only thing that seems related is tiredness but that’s from not sleeping well. All night I go from furnace hot to freezing cold. I actually have socks and a sweater on my bed that I put on and take off several times a night.

Then find a new one. How’s that for helpful?

Seriously, if you’re in single digits of bodyfat (mid-single digits for most women), that could be the cause. Two cycles missed is a bit of a flag for having a medical chat, though, so get thee to a doc.

Early forties isn’t unheard of for initiation of premenopausal symptoms. Two cycles missed, though, isn’t a typical pre- or perimenopausal symptom.

What’s the price of peace of mind?

I know I should find a new doctor. I’ve been busy and when I actually have time to do something, sourcing doctor’s ranks low on my list until I’m sick. I think I’d like a life assistant to do that kind of stuff for me.

I’m not in the single digits body fat for sure. I may get it checked but I’d guess in the teens somewhere except for my ass which is 50%.

I had initially put it down to peri menopause but when I sent a questionnaire around work, there was more focus on low body fat and weight lifting. Just kidding but that would be funny as hell to include with all the guys pay cheques for them to fill out. Nothing says fun like discussing co-workers periods.

It has come up from a few people as a possibility though.

Last night I got call from a guy in Winnipeg. It was squat shoe man. He’s sending two pairs and I’ll have them next week. I’m to keep the pair the fits best and send the other’s back.

You can’t beat that with a stick

I still think you should have drawn on toenails and coloured them in bright pink. Maybe even made a cool design on them like my lovely pedi girls do.

I’m excited for you. And jealous. I need to figure out what I’m going to do about squat shoes. The workboots just aren’t doing it for me.

Menopause (including perimenopause) begins anywhere from age 35 to age 55. You’re right in the middle.

If you’re getting soaking night sweats, my guess is that you’ve already started. And remember, there is NO “typical” menopause. It is different for every woman, including amount and severity of symptoms, and the number of years it takes to complete. You are considered postmenopausal after 12 months of no periods.

Me? My periods just stopped when I was 51, and didn’t DARE come back. But I did have several instances of night sweats throughout my forties, and I still can’t sleep well at night. But then again, I never slept well, anyway.

What kind of squat shoes did you order? I just order a pair of Do Win Rogue w/1.5 inch heels. I can’t wait to try squatting in them.

I bought mine from a Canadian company called Power firm. The picture is of the shoes I"m getting. I think a lot of Canadian lifters get them from this place. I know all the guys on my team have.

Diana, is this where you got yours?

I’m still feeling pretty strong. My bench felt very good tonight and I think I may be pushing past my previous max imminently. I hope so because I’d be hard pressed to have it much lower. I dreamt last night about benching. Sex dreams aren’t good enough for me.

Court, we missed you. I just wasn’t as fun. Bill’s son Billy was out training with us. It was like having a mini Bill there.

I got Adidas Ironworks, but everyone who I did OL with uses the guy from Winnipeg. I got a great deal on E-bay for my shoes.
Makes a huge difference for squattin’

How did the squats feel? Glad to know you had a good bench day too! Have you tried using Pete’s bench yet? Maybe we can move over there next Wednesday for the day to give it a shot.

Did you at least dream about having sex on the bench after you bench pressed? Come on O…give us something!

I missed the barn tonight…it felt so weird knowing that you guys were there and I wasn’t, but was lifting elsewhere. I was kind of sad. Did the kid miss me? I broke it to him earlier that I wasn’t going and he disappeared from his computer for about 10 minutes, apparently to shower… I think he was crying.

That’s bad. You made me spit my protein drink on my keyboard.

I was making fun of him the other day for doing that. He was talking about something he was doing at work scraping rust off something and the mime action looked uncannily like spankin’
