How did the squats feel? Glad to know you had a good bench day too! Have you tried using Pete’s bench yet? Maybe we can move over there next Wednesday for the day to give it a shot.

I didn’t try Pete’s bench yet but when I got there Billy was on our bench. I was all like “WTF pal. This is the girls bench. Get off. Geez.”
It for sure wasn’t the same last night. A big part of it was having Billy there. It was almost as if he felt like he needed to be Bill in absentia. At one point he kind of got pissy with us for laughing too much and said something about focusing. Boy, he’s got some nuts saying that after he used our bench. He’s not the boss of us.

Maybe he didn’t notice all the 10lb, 5lbs, 2.5lb and 1.25lb plates lying around that bench… seriously. Did you kick him off? Or share with him?
It would suck having a serious mini-Bill around. What’s the point in Bill being gone if we can’t have a bit more fun than usual? We still get our shit done.
I’ve decided I’m bringing some gloves from now on - it was so nice having warm hands and a warm bar to lift with yesterday.

Did the kid miss me? I broke it to him earlier that I wasn’t going and he disappeared from his computer for about 10 minutes, apparently to shower… I think he was crying.
Uh, he might not have been crying in there…
Poor guy!
That’s bad. You made me spit my protein drink on my keyboard.
I was making fun of him the other day for doing that. He was talking about something he was doing at work scraping rust off something and the mime action looked uncannily like spankin’
Hahaha i remember that conversation. We both laughed pretty loudly. Not nearly as loudly as when he asked what we were getting him for his birthday. THAT was classic. Uhh, hooker anyone? hahahaha.
Friday November 7, Biloxi Mississippi. Combat Control Team Gym Keesler AFB.
I’m out of town visiting a friend for a few days and like a total lamo I brought my stuff with me since it’s only 4 weeks to Ottawa.
We trained today and will be again tomorrow. Today was light back work. Tomorrow I will be doing what I typically do on Sundays in the barn.

I hadn’t intended to squat but my hips were feeling really tight and I did a few light ones to stretch it out a bit.

I asked one of the guys at the gym to teach me how to do a muscle up on the rings they have there. I almost got it a few times but couldn’t get the transition on the right side from pull up to dip. Also, two sets of pull ups were on rings.
I also did a rope climb to the top; something I havent’ done since I was a kid in gym class. The guys seemed to enjoy that.
Finally, I futzed around a bit with some dips and triceps extensions. I didn’t want to leave. The people were nice and the equipment was immaculate.
I hope I’m feeling as chipper tomorrow for my heavy day.

Squats were really easy and it’s making me optimistic for hitting 215 in Ottawa. Tomorrow I’m going to post the video of 185. It’s still looking like a body weight squat. The only dodgy point in time was when I couldn’t get my left wrap off after one set and my friend undid it withh his teeth. Thankfully we were the only ones in the gym at the time. I must admit there was something very sexy about having a man between my knees with his teeth in my wraps. Call my odd.
Walks outs/quarter squats
215x3
235x3
He said my quarter squats were more like 2/3 squats and I’ll be doing 235 as soon as I can get my head around it.
DL
135x5
165x3x5
205x1
I climbed the rope they have at the gym again today and I’ll post that video tomorrow. If I had one of those I’d be doing it every day. It was fun as hell except for the rope burn on the inside of my thigh from sliding down.
This is a picture of the gentleman I was visiting in Missippi. He’s called Captain Kettlebell. I bet no one knew that I hung with super heroes. It’s a bit awkward that his face is actually a kettlebell since he has a tough time getting served in bars and whatnot.
However, he does have many special abilities. One of which is pulling off knee wraps with his bare teeth. I won’t go into the rest of them since, no doubt everyone would feel insignificant in comparison.
Regardless, he very kindly took me to the Combat Control Team gym and allowed me to use their extensive facilities while I was there.
Finally, this is the video of my squat at 185. It’s not an impressive weight but it still feels like a bodyweight squat and it gives me optimism about what I can do in Ottawa.
Please note the lack of mirrors in the rack. I said it before but I was impressed with the facilities. The were spotless, organised and had incredible equipment including several mirrorless racks. There was one very small mirror in the entire place. I guess combat soldiers don’t have an overwhelming need to boost their confidence by kissing their biceps and flexing for themselves.

You look like a monkey climbing up that rope. I’m jealous.
That training partner of yours is cute…kettleball for face and all.
I’m so excited for Ottawa now. Your opener will be 200lbs at least!
for some reason i never post round these parts but tend to lurk.
anyways just felt the urge to give u major props. ur strength gains over the past few months are awesome and ur thread is both entertaining and inspiring!

You should see me eat with my feet.
Thanks for the vote on what I will be able to do in Ottawa. I really feel good about squat and DL but bench continues with the ass sucking.

You try to suck ass while benching? Maybe that’s your issue… you’re gross O… seriously gross. I’m not sure I want to share a bench with you at the club anymore.
And as for eating with your feet, I think you should do that in front of the kid. Maybe it would impress him that you can put your feet over your head and he’d stop being into me. I wonder what he did on Sunday without either of us there? I vote that he cried.

You don’t suck ass while benching? Does RG know you are sooooo close minded? You really oughtn’t to knock it till you’ve tried it.
I vote the boy cried too. Or maybe he didn’t since there was no one there to wind him up and embarrass him and point out his multiple shortcomings. I think we should make it up Wednesday night. We could start a pool on how long it would take to get him to tears.

ur gonna kill that squat in ottawa.
Thanks very much for the compliments on my log and my strength gains. It feels good when it isn’t just my mom telling me I’m strong
For some reason, I find this very difficult to do at home. I think the reason is that the gravitational pull in my family room is significantly higher (think Jupiter)than it is in the gym. This may entail a sternly worded note to someone. I’m not sure who, but someone is getting a note.
