A Cheerful Misanthrope

95x3x5
100x1x1
105x1x1
110x1x1
115x1x1
120x1x0

G. mornings
45x10
95x10
105x8
120x8

Rack pulls (below the knee)
205x8
225x5
245x2
265x0
225x4
I don’t know if it was because I did it a few inches lower or if I was still fried from the bottom start squats last night but I really struggled with this.

Seated cable row
5 plates x 18 (I think each plate is 20 lbs but who knows. I’ve never done these before. I was feeling super experimental.)
6 plates x 2 x 10

Tonight I discovered that the rack holding up the chains and bands is actually a dip station. Who knew. I tried actual, honest to god, body weight dips and discovered I could do them.

Dips
1x7
1x5

PUll ups
1x7
1x5

I wanted to do more sets but as I was getting ready, I realised I was already running late to meet my new tenant to sign the lease. So, yay, I have a new tenant!!

yay for a new tenant!! and yay for dips!

Sweet videos and congrats on the new tenant. My friend is scrambling to find one for a rental property up north. Hopefully, he will by next month before the new year.

I noticed that you have proportionately long legs - a good thing! - and am curious if you’ve found them to alter the mechanics of certain lifts. If so, which ones?

When is the next meet?

I hope your friend finds a tenant quickly. It can be a bit of stress particularly when you rely upon the income. My only reservation about my new tenant is that he may think I’m his new friend because he seems a bit lonely.

My next meet is in 5 weeks in Ottawa for the Provincial championships. Following that is 7 weeks later at the Niagara open.

Did you mean my legs look disproportionately long? They are long compared to my body and every time I look at my squat video’s I’m in mind of a flamingo or stork. I think it makes the squat a bit more challenging because it lengthens the distance travelled but I could be wrong because I’ve never done it with short legs  My arms are long too which doesn’t help with bench but is great for deadlift.

I hope you’ve been keeping well.

Sorry, I did mean disproportionately long.

I am short and I don’t think either set of limbs are disproportionately long on me, but I do have a horrible back and posture (well, it is getting better from all the corrective exercises I have been doing) and I am pretty tight everywhere. The inflexibility has held me back more than anything.

I’ve been pretty good

Sunday Nov. 2, SC

Bench
45x1x10
65x1x5
87.5x1x5
92.5x1x4
97.5x1x3
102.5x1x2
107.5x1x1
87.5x1x5 (pause on last rep)
77.5x1x10 (pause on last rep)

edit: I almost forgot. I tried a bench shirt today. It was size 50 and huge on me so it didn’t do much for me. I did one at 110 and one at 115 after I finished my regular sets. I’m going to get my own at something smaller than size 50.

DB Bench
35x3x8

CG Bench
85x3x5
This was particularly difficult today. I wanted to do 8 reps but it just wasn’t happening.

Squat
45x1x10
95x1x5
135x1x5 (suit on straps down)
155x1x5 (suit on straps up)
165x1x3 "
175x1x1 "

Heavy walk outs/quarter squats
205x1x3
225x1x3

Deadlift
135x1x5
155x3x5
195x2x1

I was afraid that I was going to run out of gas on the way home. I made it to the Sunoco station on fumes no more.

I accidently posted without finishing the story.

I went to Tim Hortons’s for my post workout coffee and almost got into a brawl.

I was next in line and when it was my turn, this guy went ahead of me. I stepped up and said ‘I’m next’. It isn’t a big deal, sometimes people just don’t pay attention. I know I’ve done that by accident in the past.

Anyway, the guy that went ahead of me, grabbed my arm and tried to pull me away from the counter saying it wasn’t my turn. The guy that was ahead of me told him I was, in fact next and the guy kept going on about line jumpers etc.

I was just stunned that some random guy grabbed my arm and tried to pull me from the counter. I was still feeling very aggressive because I had just been training for 3 hours and when he put his hands on me, my first reaction was fight/flight response and I have to say flight wasn’t on the top of the list.

I ended up totally laying into him and yelling about what kind of fool puts his hands on a stranger. As I was waiting for my drink I turned a few times and yelled at him some more. No doubt I’m the one that looked silly in the end but I was surprised by the instant anger when he grabbed me.

I got my coffee though and it was delicious.

I so would have backed you up if I was there…just think , we could be in jail right now instead :stuck_out_tongue:

It would have been a rumble. We could have totally taken him and his friends… and his pets.

So I take it you’re liking the squat suit…
How did those walkouts feel, I’ve been meaning to try that. Does your coach give you training in advance, like do you have any idea what’s up for the next 4 weeks?

I start backing off some this week, but would still like to get in one more heavy squat session, just for the confidence factor, and I’d like to do 190 again to see if it was a fluke.
You are strong in those GM’s! 5x95x5 and it kills me.

The one I’m wearing in my avatar is a 48, I think, and I have about 40 lbs on you. I’m in a 44 now, and it definitely helps.

I got it out of a bag in the corner of our ‘gym’. Our coach collects used ones for people to try out which is a great idea. Unfortunately, they are left over from some big ass guys since the 50 was the smallest one there.

I was going to get something from Inzer but am cosidering the Titan Fury that CVB recommended in the strength forum. What are you using now?

I love the squat suit. I feel a lot more comfortable in it than when I first tried it. I still find the wraps pretty bad though.

The walkouts were good but I want to go heavier. Ideally, I’d like to squat 215 in Ottawa but we will see. I just need to know what it feels like. One of the guys on my team said to quarter squat like the fingerless glove guys do.

Our coach gives us training in advance. He’s in St. John’s for the next 10 days for Worlds so we are on our own again but I have it mapped out for the next few weeks.

I know how you feel about wanting to try your max again. It’s hard to resist. I would almost do it just to prove it to myself but I don’t know what effect that would have physically. My biggest impediment is my own brain. Does it work that way for you too?

You are 2 weeks out now right? I’m pulling for you.

I’ve used a Fury, and am currently in an F6, which I really like.

Funny, I’m loving the wraps but the whole suit thing, meh, I’m not there yet. I think I’ve got a lot more in me with just the belt and wraps. Then again, I hated wraps for the longest time, I’m just stubborn.

215 would be amazing, if I can pull out the 190 I’ll be thrilled. I can honestly say the weight isn’t what worries as much as losing my head does. I got very confused at my first meet with everything that I thought was under control, attempts, kilos to pounds, food, and the bench failure really threw me. This time I’m aiming to be more organized LOL.

When do you start backing off? I’m really torn as to what I should be doing this week coming up. Last time I went pretty light for 2 weeks prior and upon reflection, I’m thinking this week should be reduced, just not as much as my schedule reads.

I feel like I’ve been in a competition schedule forever now.

O, sorry for the hijack…

Ugh Diana, after reading this, I’m so glad I’m going to Ottawa first to get a feel for what a meet is like! Best of luck to you at your comp! What weight class do you compete in?

O is gonna rock 215 like it’s her job. I already offered to slap her around a bit to get her mind in it

The boy says (and I quote) “Tell Julie she does not need a bench shirt”… so, you’ve been told lol.

We were chatting about my order I’m placing and I said I was waiting for confirmation from you. That was his response.

Tell him he doesn’t need his bench shirt or squat suit and that he can bite me.

Did you call him up? That must have just about made his day. He’ll be dreaming about you tonight.

It’ll help some. I went to a meet in July just to watch and see what goes on, but it’s not the same when you are actually participating. That being said, I’m pretty scatterbrained sometimes, and the meet 2 weeks back was one of those times. But everything worked out well in the end, as it will for you in February too.
I’m in the 132 class. Or I was until this past weekend, damn it. Halloween candy killed me.

Ha. No. He added me on msn. It pretty much made his night anyway. He seemed sad that you didn’t call him tonight cuz usually you do on Sundays apparently. I said you probably had better things to do.

I also said I felt unloved by the two of you and your marathon phone sessions… he said he’d call me sometime to make me feel better haha. He’s also concerned about how my back feels and wants me to let him know how physio goes tomorrow.

The poor kid. Has heartbreak written all over it. I even mentioned the word “Boyfriend” tonight but his eyes must have glazed right over it. Oh well.

Oh and he’s finally approved of my pink belt. Not that that was going to deter me anyways, but I think he’s finally settled on the fact that even though I lift heavy shit I like girly things like pink. It probably turns him on.
