Pillow basalts.
I went to school for geology. There is something called a ‘pillow basalt’-- lava that spews up from the ocean floor underwater. Millions of years later, when you look at them, you want to know which way was ‘up’ (in case tectonics flipped them over).
Because of their shape in outcrops, to remember how to tell ‘up’, the phrase we used was:
“Asses up, nipples down”
I won’t tell you how I remember “Moh’s Hardness Scale”…[/quote]
Heheheh… “asses up, nipples down”. I love that position…
“Mohs Hardeness Scale”-- is that based upon whichever shorts Ouro is wearing, coupled with whether sumo or conventional deadlifts are being performed?
I went to see my chiro this morning and, as predicted, I left with tears in my eyes. The lats on my right side aren’t engaging properly and I have another set of resistance band exercises to do. At one point I was face down and he dove into my back. There may have been a few sassy words as he peeled me off the ceiling.
On another note last night I clicked on a fb link to see if anyone has been looking for you. I can’t remember the name of the program but it emailed all the contacts in an old hotmail account I had. This morning I had a shit ton of emails from people I barely remember. One of which was a boyfriend I was with for two years after my husband and I split up. So far I’ve done the electronic equivalent of turning off the lights and pretending I’m not home. I’m sure I’ll have to deal with him. Bleah. I’d rather have a root canal. Word to the wise, don’t click on this link unless you’ve cleaned out old email from people who you never care to hear from again.

I’ve gotta say the nipples down asses up is one of my favourites but that’s for another site ![]()
That’s an incredible story.
I had intro geology in junior high and all I can remember was the boys snickering about “cleavage.”
Your reverse band DL’s looked good, point your feet out even more and your ass will stay down…
OB_s how is the cutting going?
its only a few kg’s yes, I used to cut 12 to 15 pounds twice a week for wrestling-
and was like 54 or 56kg at the time…
but I did not shave til a year or so after college so maybe my cutting advice would not be so good

I’m enjoying trying the rbdl’s. That was my first attempt so I’m still ironing things out. I can’t go as wide as a normal dl because of the support bars. My goal this year is to pull 350 in gear so I’m working every angle I can. I was very close to 309 at nationals and I’m still working on form and getting the most out of my gear. Maybe 350 is unrealistic. It doesn’t feel like it is. We’ll see.
I’ve been tracking my food and have made some adjustments so that I should be able to shave 1/2 lb/week. Right now I’m sitting in my office with my pants undone if that tells you anything. I’ve upped my water so the pants issue is a reflection of that.
When I went to the chiro, he asked if I’d put on weight. He’s so smooth. Fortunately, he’d prefaced the remark by saying my chest and shoulders looked bigger and more defined.
It tells me I need an office with a door.
It tells me I need to learn more about you, or more precisely
how you attain such freedom at work.
OB_s you have so made my day.
first the vids, now sitting in a dark office with your pants undone.
competing post college I could make safer but bigger cuts- water manipulation being the first step
keeping that water table full- means your body wont hold onto water later.
I forgot about the rack- I have short legs and have a hard time with box squat width in a cage I bet the same for sumo,
back to the cutting thing- it sounds quite managable with just some water and food monitoring-
and all kidding asside severe cutting as a teen through twenties , wasnt exactly healthy for me

Would I be correct in guessing that you work in a home office? That - or company policy on attire on attire is comfortably lax.

Bah HA! Chiro-- Insert activator in mouth…
I’ve decided I need to start cutting some weight. Nothing extreme. Maybe a pound a week or something. I just hate the thought of losing size/strength. But I also hate my fat ass and accumulating layer of ‘blubbah’.
Your lifts are coming right along!

I work for a roofing company. So while showing up naked or in pyjamas is discouraged, we don’t exactly wear three piece suits. It’s more of a khaki/t-shirt type place which is good give the amount of time I spend crawling through a dirty warehouse digging out shingle samples and whatnot.

Dang - I was pretty attached to the idea of togas.

I’d be more offended by the chiropractors comments if I hadn’t been equally offensive at nationals in April. Amongst other things I told him he wasn’t on a break with his girl friend. He was easing her out the door hoping she wouldn’t notice and he should break up like ripping off a bandaid. The next morning over breakfast I told him if he were a chick he’d be the easy, popular kind. I’m not always the best at tact so I can forgive him his comment.
Now that I think about it, that may be the reason he dug his fingers into the most tender part of my back and only mentioned as he peeled me off the ceiling that it may be uncomfortable.
I hear you on the weight thing. I don’t even know how I gained it. I don’t think I changed my diet. It wouldn’t be all that tough to lose weight if you weren’t also concerned about losing strength and muscle. You could just drink 10 cans of red bull a day for a year and Bob’s your uncle. You’ve lost weight and have kidney damage ![]()

It’s a safety thing. If it makes it more exciting, several of the men I work with have informed me they don’t wear underwear. Maybe they think I need to know because I’m on the joint health and safety committee and concerned about the health of their joint.
Tuesday May 26, GL Burlington
Warmup and mobility 20 minutes
Squat
1x45
5x95
5x135
5x165
2x5x185 This is a pr of sorts for me. I’d only ever squatted 185 for more than 1 rep once before and that was for a double. I actually found this easier than the cluster of singles and the incessant walk outs. The only thing was I had to find an elastic band between sets because the bar kept rolling up on my hair and ripping it out.
145x2x7
Bench
45x10
65x5
100x3x5
85x2x7
Snatch grip DL
3x3x135
2x5x135
I should have gone heavier on the first set but wasn’t sure about my back so I just focused on form, speed and driving my hips through.
Walking DB lunges
3x7/side 25lbs - Could have gone heavier
1x10/side 25lbs
Dragon Flags
3x12
These were fucking vomitous and I have no doubt I’ll feel them tomorrow. My flag was kind of wilted by the end.
DB suitcase lifts
1x10/side 25lbs
2x10/side 30 lbs
My back still hurt like a bitch particular on the dragon pukes. However, I felt really strong. I’ve come to the conclusion that I"m stronger in the evening which makes me pretty optimistic about worlds since I will be lifting at a time when my body may still be at 9pm my time.

Ah - one of those “Made You Look” games. Grown men, you say?
Good work on the squats.
I think I fell over when you said health of their joints.
Nice work on the squats, all that volume is making you better.
and probably the last month of volume is where your weight is from…
new muscles.
I dont think you can train the way you do and not change your body composition or grow new muscles.
I did the clusters today and its back to Fug Eric Cressey.
I have no grip strength in the morning, and evening is always better for me to train.
your worlds- wait your not doing timezone acclimatized training- got to get on that.
For pan am games and the one or two Euro competitions I did , I trained for that timezone.
not convinent for work etc, but maybe the last three weeks or so you try, ask around see what the
other PL say.

I forgot to say
dragon flags can suck- they hurt my neck- so I do the hanging leg raises feet to face instead.
kmc
you are kicking butt my friend!
