The conundrum for Muslims is they can’t use the historical context argument. We all know that in the past there were certain norms that today we no longer follow. We can say that certain practices were wrong but at the same time not judge the people who lived when these practices were seen as perfectly normal. Muslims cannot do this with regard to Muhammad.
What Muhammad did then is absolutely acceptable because he was Muhammad. It was justified then because it was justified period. They can’t say what he did was wrong but we need to take into account historical context. They have to say what he did was right because Muhammad could not have done anything wrong. Therefore, if it was right then it must be right now.
A Muslim cannot say it is wrong to execute boys who had surrendered because Muhammad executed boys who had surrendered. What they can say is that it is permissible to execute boys under certain conditions. In what civilized nation today would the executions of boys who had surrendered be acceptable? The executions of their fathers who had surrendered would also be a war crime. If we look at it from a historical context perspective, these killings were not out of the ordinary back then however, a Muslim has to believe that if it was permissible then, it’s permissible now. Hence, the horrific videos of them beheading prisoners while reciting the Koran.

Look at California; it was nothing special until people invested their lives into turning it into paradise. Immigrants came and contributed to agriculture. They created a wine industry. They have almonds and pistachios. They didn’t just start growing there by chance. Liberals, who didn’t sweat and bleed turning California into a place that American kids outside of the state dreamed of moving to one day, want to turn it into a third world nation.
