Well, I’m selfish and want you at that meet. I’m going! bad bench and all! BOOO!!!
I’ll put on equipment Sunday and see how things go. My benching style is now apparently illegal or something, so that’s pretty frustrating to me.
That was a pretty disappointing set of pictures to see wasn’t it? BB says that you may get a better idea of what is tolerated by watching videos of benching at worlds. I’m not sure how particular they will be with that rule.
Holy crap you are strong.

And you manage to look cute when you are lifting. Determined, to be sure, but cute as well. I get the whole red-faced something is about to blow thing going on.
Great vid.
OH FOR FUCKS SAKE!!! more benching rules>? LAME!! ah well…i hope you come one way or the other ![]()
Okay, kittens:
Slept funny and my upper back, right hand side, was just that painful tweaky feel. I figured I could warm up through it, and it would be a great cue to remind me to stay tight up there.
Sq: 8x45, 8x95, 5x135, 5x185, 1x225(belt), 1x275 (belt, loose suit), 1x315 (belt, loose suit, loose wraps). So that would be my pre-comp warmup, if I were opening at 363, and everything actually felt surprisingly light and easy, even in the loose suit.
GMs: This was a mistake. I did 3x6x135, and that was fine. Then I did 3x185, and felt something a bit wonky. Undeterred, I went for a single at 225, and now I regret. Damn you, ego! I took a hot bath instead of a shower this morning, and have been popping the Advil.
Deads: After the GMs, these weren’t happening. I pulled to 185 without a belt, but was weak all over and decided that discretion would, for once, be the better part of valor.
So, it was a nice squat day, and my back should loosen up in a day or two, but I need to get my ego in check! Especially when my “training” has been “fucking around!”
you are strong.
You called us kittens! <3
So the IPF is changing the weight classes, my new range will be between 158 lbs to 185ish lbs. Big fucking class, and I haven’t been under 160 lbs since 6th grade. We are not amused.
an easy 315. sigh.
I have a crush.

I just got this memo myself. I’m equally unamused. I could drop to 57 (125.4) and go all ferret like again or bulk up to 63 (138.6). Fortunately it isn’t quite the weight range that yours will be.
Any idea when it takes effect? On the positive side, look at all the records waiting to be set.

I think I heard 1/1/11 or something, but I’m not sure. And our local feds have to decide whether they want to follow suit. Between this and the bench rule, I’m ready to go NASA.
How did I not notice this log till now?
Unfortunate.
Whats this new rule PMPM?

The new bench rule involves arches. Specifically, you have to have at least half your ass on the bench. From the looks of the pictures, high archers (and those with donkey asses, like me) will have to tilt the pelvis a lot to get enough ass contact. I anticipate this will impact both my leg drive and my ability to keep my donk on the bench.

Hmm, that blows.
Question about your gear, I couldnt tell from the only video I saw a few pages back, but are you wearing the same suit for deadlifting as for squatting? I have a Metal V Type Squatter and have tried wearing it while pulling and had trouble with it. Whats your opinion?
I look forward to following your work on here.

Yes, I wear a Metal King Sumo Deadlifter for squats and deadlifts. I got started in a King Sumo as hand-me-down equipment from my coach - the Centurions he had that would fit my hips came no where close to fitting my thighs. As that’s what I learned it, it’s what I’m most comfortable in. I like the wider straps for squatting, although some people prefer the narrower straps. I think they are great deadlifting suits, but I could see it being difficult for a taller lifter. I don’t fit a stock Centurion - they are too long, loose in the hips, and tight in the thighs. So I <3 Metal, even though they are expensive and stretchy.
My loose suit is a Centurion that I bought off a 198 or 220 guy. About the only place it fits me is in the thighs, and even that is relatively loose. I can make depth in it raw, and only get a couple of pinches.
My 44 that I’ve used the past couple years is very loose, I got a new 44 to use as a “meet” suit and it is so crunchy I haven’t gotten it up yet.
158-185? that is a huge class! what is the reasoning for this??
and that really sucks about the arching and your butt. so many people have such stellar arches, retraining your system all over again is not fun.
That is a big class. Do you currently cut into your class or will this affect you very much?

My favorite “me” weight is 170, and I liked being there because I could cut into 165 or stick around at 181. I don’t cut to 181, but there’s no way I will ever be 158, and I don’t like how I look at 185. Blargh. I guess I need new motivation to be 170, since the 165 class isn’t going to be there…
Also, last night, finished my meeting at 9. Training involved a hot bath.
Yea that’s unfortunate that you’re smack dab in the middle. Is switching feds an option?
Also, you could cut to 158. I’ve cut 12lbs for a fight, it sucked but it is doable if you really wanted it. Plus, you’d probably destroy that class.
Well, the least I’ve weighed since 6th grade is 160 lbs, and that was before I put any muscle on me. The most I’ve cut for a meet is probably around 10 lbs, and it’s pretty difficult since we only have a two-hour weigh in with this federation.
I suppose if I walked around at 165, I could cut to 158. But any cutting will require new equipment. Argh.
I’m considering switching feds, but the only other fed active in Colorado doesn’t really have an international presence, and the international stuff is what I really like.
