8500 Calories a Day, Frank Yang Bulking Diet

it’s surprising how ignorant some people are in this thread.

do a search on “Frank Yang mix tape”. not sure if Frank still trains like that, but he was pretty damn strong at 156. add volume and calories to a lengthy period of starvation/depletion and BOOM. monster rebound.

anyone who doesn’t acknowledge that this amount of muscle gain and caloric intake won’t work FOR YOU during the first two months of a rebound, without steroids, needs to diet hard then give it a try. I experienced it myself firsthand after dieting for 16 weeks last year, and I was training like an idiot and not even half as strong as Frank.

I do predict that this caloric intake will have to level off and drop eventually, but that is entirely up to Frank’s metabolism and any injuries or other obstacles he might have to deal with.

Exactly. He should ramp up calories because that is the “right thing to do”…you know…ignore the muscle gains and restrict your body to grow less.

wait.

No big deal…I think he may just be greatful his own metabolism is faster.

I think your metabolism can adapt to caloric load over time especially with regular weight training…and I for one would rather be able to diet on 3,000cals than gain on it.

But hey, you take what you get…to some degree.

He must have an insane metabolism.

Like has been said a million times… everyone is different. Some can gain on 3,000 while others lose on 3,000.

You see guys like Kobiyashi who eat 10,000 calories of hot dogs in 5 minutes are are stick thin… Everyone is different.

is 8,000 calories overkill for 99% of the population? yeah probably… is Frank Yang in that 99%? Evidently not lol

cool video

EDIT: people need to chill out. Not every thread needs to turn into an argument.

But…my metabolism is like that…and it clearly wasn’t early on. I trained my body to accept and handle more food over time.

Most of the population doesn’t train as often as some of us here nor do they put as much into it.

You’re right, most people in the gym shouldn’t do this…and most people in the gym won’t make anyone say, “holy shit” when they walk by either.

People who are serious about lifting weights and look like they’re serious about lifting weights definitely do not fall into the 99% of the population bracket.

When I started lifting at the age of 35 I checked in at 170. When I finally decided to get serious about gaining mass I weighed about 185 and couldn’t budge it off that.
You started lifting at 35??

Pretty awesome to see someone that has made the progress you’ve had, that hasn’t been lifting since they were 12 lol. Inspiring.

if zack khan told you to eat monkey balls and hang upside down like a bat because you would add 20lbs of lean muscle…would you believe him?

stop doing what people tell you to do and start figuring out shit for yourself, holy shit. this whole fucking site is turning into a “he said to do this”, so i ignore any common sense and do as others tell me do to, instead of thinking for my own fucking self.
no but i ll take his opinion over some idiot on the interweb anyday
point is even 300 pounds behemoth dont eat that way
(khan mentions this in one of his videos btw…he challenged any bb’er claiming 10-20k cals a day or some bs). And I am glad he did, I have seen Arnold, Yates, Levrone, Nasser ectect and they rarely ever go over 6k a day
and hes an enhanced pro…its fuckin ridiculous for a skinny asian kid claiming to be natural to eat like this plus I dont even think it is realistically feasible for more than a couple of days/

btw steely u r fat blob. I look 20 times better and prolly still outlift u
get at me bro i ll drive to ur gym if u want

This is coming, of course, from a guy without any pics in his hub.

Best of luck Frank! This is a very cool experiment and I look forward to see where you end up at the end of this.

damn it man, I just posted the exact same thing and then saw your post!

Wow…it’s a good thing no one here actually thinks like this who has been lifting for a while.

Genetics is at the base of everything. People can debate how bad big calories are all they want to but that is how many big guys got that way even if they scaled back now. That much is just a fact.

If a lifter is seeing positive progress…what does someone else’s opinion of how they eat matter?
You’re misreading my point. What I am saying is while this guy is a perfect example of how to grow quickly, he is an unrealistic model. But fuck yeah, if I was rich, I’d be gorging myself dribbling food down my chin like him all day too. Unfortunately, I literally do not earn enough money to eat 8500 calories (by that I mean from a reasonable diet like in the video) a day. literally. no. chance. meh
1/2 the kids calories came from 7/11, I’m sure you could eat like that.

Prime example, you’re online so unless you are at the public library or work there’s $35 a month in internet that can go towards food and another $500-$2,000 one time amount depending on the computer you are using.

Chances are, if you’re logging into this site let alone buying the products, you aren’t too bad off.

That is a truly impressive amount of food, and I’m not here to argue about whether it’s healthy or necessary 'cause it’s obviously working, but even if those meals worked out to just $5 apiece [and there’s no way they’re that cheap] you’re still spending $150 a week minimum on eating out. That’s a lot of dough.

Some people are into cars and will spend more than that on Gas and other things a week. If you need to eat that much and you really want to bodybuild then you will need to spend more money on food.

I spend about $60-$80 a week on food [not counting going out], the same on gas, on top of car note, rent, gym, insurance, cell phone, internet, etc… Buying that much food a day all from takeout places is completely unrealistic for tha average person.

As far as entertainment goes, 8/10
Why would someone ignore the results they are seeing to “ramp up calories”? If you jack up calories and mostly muscle comes with it, you would be one clueless individual to ignore it and “ramp up” because it is the “better thing to do”.
Yea i look in the mirror and think “Emmm didn;t get fat this week. Keep bumping up the calories”. So far, so good.
It worked for me. I am not sure why people have a problem with it now.
Instead of hopping on the scale every morning and counting calorie. I just use the mirror. I’m a visual and a feeling person. Never good with numbers.

Spoken like a true artist.

It’s obvious you think outside the box, in the gym and in life.

Frank can you explain the snorting creatine thing? I did a search and I can find nothing even resembling a post about snorting it… Was it just a joke or is there an actual reason behind it?
