6 Week Training Cycles?

Hello jim,

i read the book in a matter of hours. i could not put it down like an old lady reading the newest daniel steele novel on the beach.

the new 6 week training cycle Section is a bit confusing. Are we to apply the 6 week cycle to the variation we choose? I’m going with strength challenge on page 88 because I’m on a mission to deadlift 500 lbs. the strength challenge is clearly written as 3 training weeks with 1 week download. Increase TM and repeat.

How is it he 6 week challenge applied to the strength challenge?

How is the strength challenge different than the strength phase from pg 15?

Thank everyone.

Not sure about the first question, but I would say stick to the template:
“By doing this we have essentially laid out the 4 week plan as such:
â?¢ Week One: Hard (3 sets of 3+reps, plus a heavy single)
â?¢ Week Two: Medium (3 sets of 5 reps; just get the required reps) â?¢ Week Three: Hard (5/3/1+ reps, plus a heavy single)
â?¢ Week Four: Easy (3 sets of 5 reps, deload)”

In regards to the second question, “Part 1” of the Strength Phase is weeks 1-3 of the Strength Challenge, “Part 2” is weeks 5-8. The Strength Challenge has an additional 9-12 template for pushing your 1RM up and testing it. It seems that for the Strength Phase, you pick either “Part 1” or “Part 2” as your template for a given cycle. The Strength Challenge has the added benefit of having the assistance laid out for you.

I just started the Strength Challenge on Saturday, finishing up week 1 later this week.
