Guy in the rack next to me was 2009 America’s Strongest Man for those keeping score at home.
Seriously,Id kill to have a gym like yours close to me.
I couldn’t help noticing how low your friend got in his squat.
Bulldog, bear in mind Texas gets a tad warm in the summer, like 105 in the shade . . .
Matt did you really break your finger picking up my tire?

Where do you live? You may, and not even know it. I know quite a few big time lifters and can find out if there is anything around where you’re at.

Andy is a pretty good olympic style weightlifter too. He was oly style squatting.
Summer really isn’t that bad. The gym has big bay doors so it stays pretty cool.

lol, yeah I really did!! Well Zach thinks I tore the ligaments in it, but the way it hurts I think I cracked it.

To be honest I do know the locations of several harder core gyms here in Indiana. But none really close enough for me to justify the travel time and expense. It might be different if I wasn’t married with kids and a full time job.

That is understandable, I’m married with kids also. Our gym was based out of my garage for about 5 years till I met the owner of the gym now. I am heavily involved with it as about half the equipment is mine, and thus its only 5 minutes from my house. If it was far, with work and family responsibilities, I’d still be garaging it.
That said, build your own. Then you can get the younger lifters without all the tie downs to drive and lift with you.
Here is the progression of mine over the past 8 years…

The evolution pictures give me hope for a nice warehouse gym. There is one kind of close to me but it’s pretty exclusive as I understand, competitive PL’ers only.

Nice Matt. Now im even more jealous. Ive got my own set up in my garage. The big thing with me isn’t so much the notion of actual equipment issues. It would just be damn nice to train around others with the type of mind set I have regarding lifting.
Damn, Matt, that is really spacious. Not like the places I’ve been where everything’s crammed together.

I would ask if you haven’t. We run into that misconception ALL the time. New people will come in and say, “We’ve been checking out the gym for months, but thought it was only for comp powerlifters and strongmen.” We let anyone train and actually need all the people we can get to keep the bills paid and the doors open.

Ask around like crazy. Took me 5 years in the garage to get 5 good solid training partners. They’ve all moved away now and I miss the hell out of them. NOTHING better than having a good group of lifters. It is awesome.

Thanks man. I love being there more than anywhere. In fact I was just there for 3 1/2 hours this morning lol.

Tweaked the crap out of my back putting on a pair of shorts yesterday of all things. Cranked my soft belt for the whole workout, sucked.
getting old is dumb
Hey, where do you live? Interested in buying an econo prowler and a couple 45 lb plates? I’m in Utah, but I think I could figure out a way to get it to TX
