ive been looking at the 5x5 workout for strenth and mass gains as im bulking up at the moment.
but when i train i aim for muscle failure too get everything out of a good workout
what are your views on 5x5 or are there better workouts for strenth and mass gains
5X5 are good, but so are 8X3, 3X8, 6X4, and 4X6. Sometimes I go crazy and do some 3X9,10,&12s. I’ll even do 2X25. My point is mix it up. 5X5 will do you good. Up your weight and give it a shot.
thats what ive been lokking for cheers
thats what i mean so many different reps/sets to choose from but im pretty sure wat im starting now with thanks.
You don’t have to rep til failure to get the most out of a workout.
5x5 is a good scheme. It allows you to work up to your working weight without accumulating too much fatigue, and your usually at your peak strength by the fourth or fifth set anyway.
If you stick to a routine and train hard you’ll make gains regardless of the routine. the best routine is the one you stick to and really push yourself on.
If your want to gain strenght AND size, don’t do less than 4 reps or more than 8 reps…
The best trainning for you is the one you never did… think about it!
IMO, if u want quick strength gains, dont train to failure. ur goal is to not get sore from a workout. stimulate with low reps high weight, like 5X5, then get out.dont do isolation exercises. that way ull recover faster and therefore be able to train more frequently and add more poundages to ur lifts
