World record for 123 category is 392, 132 is 410, 148 is 462. Those are all well over 3xBW

Yea, that dude is pretty amazing! I think a lot of people would be fairly happy just to deadlift that at 165.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who didn’t forget about this

Amazing

This is insane. In its own way it’s at least as impressive as Spoto’s 7-hundo +. That’s a dense little dude.

Another crazy inspiring lifter. 498 lb raw at 148.8 lb with no leg drive. 498 lbs Raw Bench @ 148 - Lei Liu (226@67.5kgs) (All-Time Raw WR) - YouTube

I’ll be the dick and say the no leg drive should be emphasized more than his weight. Still a hell of a lift but the upper body of a guy 2-3 weight classes higher.

I did a two meets in the mid-nineties that included a double amputee (above mid-thigh). He lifted in the 148’s and benched w/shirt in the 380-400 range. It was something to see.

Wow Philip Brewer’s bench is amazing I’d love to know how he built a bench like that once again wow !!

I did a ton of google searching, and couldn’t find anything on his training. I want to know also, because my long term goal is a 2.5xBW bench.

2.5 would be awesome.

I believe the plates were just painted like that to match the bench. Judging by the fact that it’s 500 lb and I can see two (?) of the green plates per side I’m guessing they’re 100 lb plates, and that green is no official colour I’ve seen.
Yes, the green plates are 100s that are painted specifically for RPS. Apparently Gene really likes the color green (also why the lights are green instead of white like most feds).

The only thing I know about his training is that he has received coaching from Jason Manenkoff (of Iron Arena in Hoboken, NJ) - he was the guy who gave Phil the handoff for that record bench. Of course, Jason is no slouch in the bench press himself, with a PR of 410 at 165 (drug-tested). AFAIK he hasn’t released a book or “master” template but he is available for online coaching.

This is truly great. Also love the fact that it was a no BS, no frills throughout. He didn’t spike the ammonia or whatever it was, and was just completely cool and collected the whole time. Most legit bench I’ve ever seen, love how the judge was actually looking, making sure both arms locked out, etc.

Top shelf. A+

That range of motion was HUGE, he just shot a cannon from a canoe. Awesome!
