So I dug back in the archives and found “12 Weeks to Super Strength” by Ian King. I am hoping to bring my chest and back up some.
Anywho, I am planning to do more of a “maintenance” program on my legs while I’m killing my upper body, and am thinking of doing a 5X5 thing for legs. I’m not a rookie to training, but I am a rookie to 5X5.
So here’s the question. Do you warm up with a few sets before hitting the actual 5X5? I know the answer has to be yes, but I just want to confirm.
Thanks!

I am no expert, but that’s a big yes on the warmups.
When I do 5x5 on front squats I do mobility work before to get my whole body loosened up and warm and ready to go, and then I do one or two warmup sets to make sure everything is grooved.

Ditto, I go at a moderate pace on an elyptical for 10 minutes or so, then do at least one warmup set for each movement if only to remind myself of correct form and so-forth. Kinda like practice swings before hitting a golf shot, if you don’t mind the golf analogy.
