5/3/1 - Makin' the Reaper Wait

I’m amazed at the affect food has on you. I routinely lift without having eaten that day and it doesn’t seem to bother me. Maybe I’m just not aware of it but it doesn’t seem to effect whether I’m sore or not. Is it because you carry a lower bodyfat percentage? BTW love the Konstantinov vids.

Horizontal Pressing and mucking about
Neutral grip DB bench
65’sx8
75’sx8
85’sx3 (it was just warmup y’know?)

DB floor press
100’sx2,3

Hammer Strength Press
2plates + 25 x3
2 plate + 25 + 10 x 3
3 plates x 1 (PR + 20 lbs)
2 plates + 25 + 10 x 3
2 plates + 10 + 5 + 2.5 x 5

Deadlifts
225x3
315x3
405x2
465x1,1,1
405x8

The 405x8 was supposed to be 415x5 but I only remembered on the 5th rep so I did 3 more.

Tha’s all.

I’m a small-boned dog attempting to pull a heavy sled with St. Bernard pack. If I don’t eat my mood goes in the toilet, my lifts go down and I ache.

Often when I’ve finished lifting I’ve finished with everything for the day and all I’m good for is commenting on forums and staring at the wall.

Oh no - the deads were the serious business. The mucking about was the pressing. For some reason I couldn’t or wouldn’t decide on a lift. I didn’t much feel like pressing today and probably should have skipped it.

so the deads must have been ‘mucking about’

wanna argue about it [wink, wink, nudge, nudge]

Tease. I didn’t get any make-up candy OR rough sex off the last one.

So, “No.”

Nice work DCA…

its funny we have very different body types you are tall and lanky I am short and stocky,
yet very similar with the food thing.

I am realizing that I chronically undereat- and have bad recovery etc. At work we take scheduled breaks
at 2.5 and 5 hour intervals very civilized, working on a feature- less so meal breaks every 7 hours
pretty crazy, at home I forget to eat

kmc

It’s a Lonely pursuit;
This getting stronger
It has no use
At least, not any longer

You might have a partner
More likely you don’t
Some might understand -
Most often they won’t -

Why you’d want to press
More over your head
Than what they can pick up
In a cheater’s dead

It’s thankless, it’s hard
It takes all your time
There’re setbacks and roadblocks
But still it’s sublime

Because it’s you and the iron
And it laughs at your tries
But when you’re the winner
It never lies.

nice!

dankid and TYPE2B:

Reading those guys makes me want to core my head out and install one of those electronic singing hamsters in the empty space. With blinking lights. And a little “pew-pew” sound-maker like a miniature gun firing to fill the dead air after the hamster stops singing and before he starts.

I’m sure others feel the same about me, but since it’s my thread…

I beginning to re-interpret the tightness in my body that occurs with this sort of fasting. Before - I would feel like I was strong, but now I’m starting to realize that it’s a sign of trouble that needs to be headed off “afore sumpin’ nasty hap’ns.”

ahhhh - why do you torture yourself reading their excrement? I occasionally stumble across their dung and I guess it’s kinda like gawking at an accident, only maybe wanting to cause some of the blood…

Gee I missed something

Your thread gets me out lifting or working out, so I really appreciate it.

Guess that is why I come back to read it from time to time.

I feel old.

Ah, may I suggest you take your own advice? The plan was to back off for a while and not hit any PRs for a month but then you went out and hit major PRs two sessions in a row. Awesome training but maybe not in your best long term interests. And, of course, the next question is “How has your eating been over the last week?”

Not meant to be harsh…[/quote]

But there are times when a little reminder helps.

Looks like yesterdays DL poundage choices were just right. My p-chain feels worked, but not torn up as it usually does after deadlifting. One of the reasons I cut back on DL’s was because I would literally feel as if I had ripped something in the right lower back the day after a session, but today I just feel like I trained hard. Encouraging.

LOL. I forgot about him, mainly because I put him on the ‘ignore’ list, so never to be heard from again (at least with MY login…).

Nice recovery on the lifts. It’s nice to make the right decisions and have productive sessions versus making the wrong decisions, which only reveal themselves through injuries…

My I.I.Q. might just be improving.

I’m pretty eager to make my maxes into my new 90%, though. I’m gonna have to watch it…

Eager to train today, though it’s a day off. Just means I’ll be really ready tomorrow. Seated overhead press and free squat tomorrow, with Chest supported rows. Moving into unprecedented weights on the seated press, very exciting. Kicking chest supported BB row up to 225 and try for 5 reps, since I got 8@205.

My gym got a new bar. It held up well to the 465 DL last time, but it’ll be fun to test the flexiness of it across the shoulders with that weight on it. I’m going to do a couple of walkouts to stress the spinal connective tissue and core.

DCA, you are really tearing it up. Its motivating, and fun, watching you work/progress.
