5/3/1 - Makin' the Reaper Wait

Do you sleep?? 11:15 and still lifting heavy. Very impressive. I’d be up all night after that.

I would have to take the front squats…and I don’t even do them. Heck, Since I got off work, last Friday, I have left my house (the premises, not the indoors) only twice. Were I not married with kids, I would likely be a hermit…except for the occasional visitor I snagged off the web.

You never cease to amaze, Tony. Lifting weights (and heavy ones at that) at nearly while knocking at the midnight hour. Good stuff…

Close the blinds, lock your door. No one looking? Merry Christmas to you and the family. Not sure if you can still legally say that in California. Hope you enjoyed the play and fattened goose liver.
You’ve had a hell of a year. Your knowledge of lifting has helped everyone on here. Thanks for sharing.

Merry Christmas, Charming. Thanks for all of the helpful suggestions and humor over the year!

Thanks Math. Hope I wasn’t to pushy. Or corny.

I’m sitting just this side of 200 lbs. I’m making a concerted effort tomorrow to get over the line. It’s one of this year’s goals

The others were/are

500 DL (check)
400 SQ (probably, so…check)
300 FS (290 from bottom, so with stretch reflex engaged…Check)
300 BP (nope, not even close)
200 OHP (frustratingly close, still got 7 days)

Upper body gets a concentrated block next. Get this shoulder online for real, 'steada half-ass rehabbing it and make some monster triceps.

Merry Christmas Tony.

DCA, thanks for all your help and sage advice this year.

Merry Christmas!

Jack

Man - I wish you were joking about that. I’m not Christian, but it seems to me that there’s a concerted effort to kill the Christian roots of the holiday…

Thanks for the good words Harry. You’re still the soul of the forum in my mind.

Wasn’t feeling it today for OHP’s but I went for it anyway. @ 190 the Lockout was slow, but came off the shoulders pretty good. Managed to keep it close to my face or else it wouldn’t have gone.

My sumos are basically wide-stance stiff legged DLs, but they do the freakin job. 495 was very slow and I almost gave up on it at the bottom, but I could feel it still moving so I kept pulling. Definitely couldn’t see anything, vision - or my attention to it - totally cut out. The deficit deads took me till the second set to really engage the glutes so my low back was better supported.

That’s some pullin’!!! Nice OH Presses, too. Watch your nose-- I totally bruised mine from scrapage today (lucky I didn’t break it!)…

Good work!

Nice job on the OHPs and sumos!

It doesn’t count unless you weigh 200 lbs. in the morning. Says a veteran self-weigher.

I don’t worry so much about my nose as I do my chin. I’ve cracked myself in the jaw pretty hard before - on the way up AND on the way down.

In programming my brain for success and a new set point, I often weigh myself when I feel my heaviest. I can then burn that number in as a standard. My body seems then to attain the desired weight more naturally, without “force feeding.” I still eat more than usual, but it doesn’t feel like I’m stuffing myself or fighting myself to gain weight.

Who makes these rules, anyway?
