5/3/1 - Makin' the Reaper Wait

Don’t worry its probably just a mild heart attack. Great training as always.

I had to keep reassuring my wife I wasn’t having a heart attack. She wanted to get me to a doctor. I’m just going to suffer in silence next time so I don’t worry the poor dear.

It DID get me out of doing dishes, however.

So does this “pain” only occur when there is an impending chore?

I have experienced a similar sounding discomfort, in the past…same area, same burning, almost doubled me over. Every time, though, it was right after drinking Sprite and Jack Daniels. I have no idea why that. Needless to say, I mix with Coke now.

I’ll take the chore over the discomfort any day.

Sprite gets me like that every time, so I don’t drink it at all. Or apple juice on an empty stomach. But I hadn’t had any high-acid foods like that last night. It’s a poser…

I’m gonna have to start following your workouts and googling the exercises!

Did you eat before you felt bad?

I recently put on a few pounds got sick, then just couldn’t eat… I would get a burning gaseous feeling instead of hunger… It goes away with protein heavy food, but not carbs…

Has it reoccurred?

I did in fact eat before I felt bad.

As far as the exercises go:

150% squats: Unrack, go down, come halfway up go down then come all the way up.

Double pause presses: press to forehead, pause, press it out, bring it down, pause at forehead, finish.

Fat man diamond pushups: diamond pushups on a bar rather than on the floor.

Hope it never reoccurs…
But if it does, maybe a Dr. is in order.

I’ll keep an eye on it. My father fought GIRD for a good 20 years, but I have hopes that I can avoid that for myself. It’s very very infrequent and does seem to be coupled with 1) overeating at a particular meal 2) abundant carbs in the meal, which is unusual for me to do.

Thats some really good lifting there.

How’d you like that 580 walkout? If anything, that’s a great mental builder just knowing you can shoulder that weight without it crushing you. Very awesome.

Pretty cool. I think it was about 20 sec total time under the bar. Took my time walking out, setting each foot before shifting weight. Right side is very shaky due to the back injury, but very manageable.

I gotta start doing some walk outs. I guess out of the mono it ain’t a walk out, just a stand up.

That’s a lot of weight on your shoulders!

It’s the poor man’s shoulder shoulder tattoo. One design and only one color. But you get both sides done at the same time!

That made me smile. It is the one guaranteed honest tattoo

eBox-e Squattu (14" box)
140x5
190x3
230x3
270x3
310x3
340x1 (PR +5lbs - pretty easy)
350x1 (+15lbs - still not hard)
360x1 (+25lbs - slow but solid)
370x1 (+35lbs - Pretty slow but still not a max)
320x4 (PR +5lbs, +1 rep)

Dead Incline press from chest
140x5
160x3
180x3
200x3
215 3x3 sets (PR + 2 sets)

Bent Over BB row to Chest (wide grip)
140x5
190x5
230 5x2 sets

Good Session. Weight felt light on the back, in the hole is where the weakness lies. Did good keeping chest out, elbows forward and head up.

I think I could have tripled 220-225 today for one set, but I wanted 9 or ten reps so I took 215.

Was going to do foam board close grip presses, but the above seemed like enough for today.
