5/3/1 Deadlift PR (Final) Set

On the final PR set I stop lifting when my grip fails, even though I feel I can bang out more reps.
Question: Would it then be ok to stop my touch-and-go set and reset on every rep to go for more reps in the set or just stop?

I do it all the time or something like it. My two cents though - do the resets first and then bang out as many t/gs as you can. The other way around, the pauses will kill you after hitting 10 or so t/gs - unless you like that sort of thing. I always do the required + a few as paused simply because it is called a “dead” lift for a reason and I like to cover all angles - I also like working on breaking from the floor. But then I let it rip. The constant tension on the post chain and back wipe me and I love it.

I prefer to have a complete dead-stop and reset after each rep - just my view

Do each rep the same - start to finish. If your grip fails, it means you have to strengthen your grip.

A strong man is strong in his hands.

Rave, Lewis and Jim, thank you for the quick feedback. I look forward to making more progress.

Do you lift mixed grip? Hard to imagine that you could get in a reprange where the grip starts to fail when lifting mixed…

Starter-I have not switched up to a mixed grip yet. I’ve been trying to basically lift as much weight and as many reps before switching to mixed.

I have only been seriously lifting for the last year and a half and this is my first time with an actual system (i.e. 5/3/1), so I’ve been trying to get as far as possible before switching up grips, etc.

Meat, I use the hook grip on the #s + set. That way, at least for me, my grip and form seem to break down more simultaneously. On all other sets I use the double overhand.

Yes, you should eat meat.
