As soon as I saw the thread I thought “chin-up”. lol Seems I’m not the only one thinking this. Bravo Xen (And to think I’ll bew sooooooo proud to be able to do a few one arm chins at 145 lol. Well, Xen isn’t here, John Gill isn’t here, nobody I know is able to chin more than 75%bw-lighter guys, <40% heavier guys). btw, Xen, could you please tell me how you got to such chinning strength? please don’t say hard work and eating :))

Why no hard work and eating? Sorry to inform you, but “hard work and eating” is the only way to accomplish anything in the gym. The fact that you don’t want to do this goes a long way towards explaining why you are 145 pounds and your biggest goal is a 1 arm chinup.

edit: Sorry, I didn’t mean that to sound so dickish. But hardwork gets you everywhere.
It was supposed to be a joke(see the - :)) - ). 145.But the OAP is not my biggest goal. I want a big strong upper body, STRONG legs, and I just love climbing and doing things which require high relative strength. And I like working hard. And I now eat. But the idea is that I would rather get the OAP before adding a lot of mass, especially to my legs. btw, I should get the lever pretty soon
Strength, Vlad

lol. Many thanks Xen. (the idea about eating and hard work was I already knew and was starting to implement them. Well, eating, because I work hard anyways)

I wouldn’t add anything. If you want to add a lift, add the overhead press back into powerlifting.

Powerlifting is the squat, bench, and deadlift. If you wantr to strongman, do strongman. If you want to olympic lift, do olypic lifts, and so on.
I second Tom’s opinion. It is tiring enough when its time to deadlift, not point of adding another lift.

Military Press

Barbell Row, weighted chin, or seated press. In addition, I’d love the see the shirts and wraps that come out for each!!!

BEER CHUGGING FOR REPS!

But there’s something to be said for training methodology. I don’t think he was trying to say that he didn’t want to work hard, rather that he wanted specific advice. Besides, one-arm chins are fucking difficult.

Shirted chinning would be hilarious.

I would add any movement that requires power/strength, but no technique or precision, to keep in line with the other movements. This would rule out Olympic lifts.

I’m gonna get flamed for this, aren’t I…

Donkey calf raise. There is no other that comes close in testing raw strength.

Was this a joke?

The olympic lifts are a good idea, but they wouldn’t work for powerlifting. Powerlifting has strict performance rules for its lifts, and all the flopping around, shuffling of feet, and uneven extensions are just too sloppy for powerlifting.

I can see it already!!! A triple layer denim shirt designed specifically to help you pull up even more!!! I can hear the people getting called for fouls because the shirts were so tight they couldn’t get their arms into the dead hang position!!! Awesome!!!

I’m in for the donkey calf raises also!!! Spring loaded shoes are on order as we speak!!!

I would say a back to a post overhead press.

Overhead Squats would be interesting. I’d say hack squats, but the ROM could be tough to deal with.

This thread is a total corpse. Oh well, I would say a seated military press behind the neck would work.
It would mean two lifts with a concentric phase only and two with an eccentric phase as well.
Two lifts for the upper body, two for the lower.
The symmetry is great.

I always thought the one-armed dumbbell press was an interesting lift. Barbell rows are a truer test of strength, but the inclination to cheat would be too great.

db pressing

I don’t want a 4th. I’d rather that snooze-fest between the Squat and Deadlift removed and replaced with some form of overhead pressing.

Ok, maybe I’m slightly bitter about the broseph lift.
