Firstly i would like to thank those of you who take time to read this and offer me your advice.
And i want to make it Clear that Advice is exactly what i am after, both negative and positive. After all the majority of you (i hope) have the knowledge to suggest what’s best.
So i suffer from Hypogonadism and am prescribed Nebido 1000mg/4ml Test Undecanoate Via IM injection. The usual dose would be every 12 weeks maximum however my test levels didn’t ever get close to normal until we reached every 6 weeks. And this has been the case for 4 years This dose bring my T levels to the bare minimum for a 42 year old.
following an initial diet to prove i can lose and maintain weight loss 25st - 21st followed by a gastric sleeve 20st day of surgery 18 months later 12st 11lbs.
As you can imagine i have spent long periods sedintary and will be starting to build muscle that has wasted and also trying to increase strength on joints and throughout my body because i want to give myself the best chance i can at a healthy ,happy yet also strong and energetic life again.
Beyond the Nebido my GP in the UK will not prescribe anything else. However i do have people i trust and can source products from.
Can you please advise a newcomer that’s looking to improve strength ,energy levels and build confidence in the best way you can buy suggestions of go to products to use. How often? What strength? Dietary tips? Work out tips to go with these?
It’s a lot to ask but i am asking because i respect myself enough to not go blindfolded into this and would prefer to seek help from those better equipped to help me start out.
Hi, thank for your reply. The shirt answer is yes and very recently i have been using resistance bands or they have been using me,i can’t figure who’s winning at this stage they have slapped me that much.
As a young adult i was extremely athletic. I ran 100m,200m & 4 x 100m relay for the county
I played as a striker for throughout school and after within the local community team. The reason i mention this is because though always filled with explosive, fast attributes. Whenever it came to long work outs or distance running i would had out and often puke on a regular basis.
We’re talking 15 years ago now and exercise in the last decade has been zilch so I’m taking it from the mindset of a total rebuild but at 42 that’s not easy. Fibromyalgia flare ups can be awful and i am convinced based in studies i have read that anabolic steroids can help with that.
How about you start with products like “Comfortable Walking Shoes” and “The Barbell.” 5 times per week for the shoes, 3 times per week for the barbell. With a strength of 66% of you maximum.
As a re-introduction to resistance training, I’d very much consider Dan John’s “Easy Strength for Fat Loss”, which you can buy directly from Dan John University, but he gives an excellent crash course on it here
He also offers some excellent basic nutritional advice, which boils down to eating lots of protein (and veggies), drinking water, coffee and tea and fasting until training.
Another great simple approach to nutrition can be found here
Condescending comments were to be expected i guess. In all fairness i should have included the fact that my right ankle requires surgery that only a bone graft from my hip with solve ,so pretty much all weight applied through that (though i can strap it with kinesthetic tape to form a cast) the best i get is 20 minutes and that still in a lot of pain. But i understand the basis of your comment ,which is …do the basics first.
So swimming is a good option for me. The trouble i have is recovery and also building muscle regardless of how much i try. The chemical compounds needs to be there in your body to help that and i feel i could.do with a little help in addition to my own.
Something you can do, logistically easier than swimming, so you can do it more often. To rebuild your Cardio Vascular base.
Which should improve your health and allow you to train harder and recover better.
Don’t think of it as “basics first,” or condescendingly recommended “beginner stuff.” Think of it as “First Thing First,” like the beginning of a long term strategic plan.
Sad to hear about your state. That said, you seem to have a lifting solution at hand: Resistance bands! These provide a very careful loading on your muscles, considering fibromyalgia. Combined with bodyweight excercises you might be onto something.
I recommend you try a full body approach, one set on each musclegroup (8 sets) aiming for an 80% RPE during 8-12 slow reps in good form, every other day or at least twice weekly. Maybe adding/shifting for isometric holds to be even more gentle on bad days.
Make sure you have sufficient iron, vitamin B12 and folic acid in your system. When in doubt supplement a multivitamin with iron on a daily basis.
Critically ill is somewhat dramatic.ny critically ill patients at work would have never been able to write or use their mobile.
Yes I have had a pretty rough time My wife had. An affair, I became a drug and alcohol addict using crack and heroin but ok got myself through that and got myself back into my own place and now I’ve battled the health side of things in thinking the next chapter shall be a good one.
Might do a vlog see what the progress over a year is
Basically I would add testosterone until you get to normal to high levels for your age
swimming and also careful wight exercise. If after 4 years levels have not gone up then you should go on TRT continuously, don’t know other lifestyle topics like partner status and family which are to consider.
