@The_Mighty_Stu would smile at this. Damn he did have good arms ![]()
@BrickHead, do you know what the measure actual is? I tried to look it up, but couldn’t find wrist size.
Yes, definitely outliners. FWIW, I recently learned about Jules Bacon, Mr. America from 1943, obviously no steroids for him, some of his measures were 5’7" height, 31" waist, 15.5" neck, and 9" ankle. Very close to my frame size: 5’9", 32", 15", 8.5". I think he is a good model for me.
I just want to add a follow up. I appreciate all the feedback. I may have given some the wrong impression with this question. After hearing from everyone I increase my working weight for OHP, increased by about 15%. I had been working light with OHP, because of this ratio. I reset to a working weight based off of an earlier 1RM test. That feels much better… meaning I can feel I’m actually working OHP hard now.
Sorry, late reply. I definitely don’t want to stop the heavy lifts. I’ve been doing squat/RDL each workout. When I started up last summer I used the ratio more as a way to make sure squat/RDL wasn’t set to low. I did a strength test back then and my squat and bench press were the same. That seemed strange, so I worked to get squat/RDL up. More recently I felt this ratio had me doing OHP to low. I’ve taken the advice from you an others to not get hung up on the ratio and put my OHP weight back up to where I had tested. I could feel that lift was going nowhere, and I didn’t like that. I think I’m on track now. Thanks.
