I didn’t mean to cause so much arguing on here. I was just excited from the lift and wanted to see if it was any good. I realize that you all are just trying to help me and I appreciate it greatly. I did Starting Strength for four or five months and the 20 Rep Squat Program after that for about 8 weeks. I figured since it was Christmas Break and my body was a little broke down that it would be a good time to take a break from lifting. Anyways I apologize for all of the arguing.
That’s fine but consider your audience. 98 percent of people in everyday life would be supportive of that but the people in this particular forum think of “some time off” meaning a week at most - and even then, all here would be doing SOMETHING in that week “off” (pushing a prowler, dragging a sled, deloading but still lifting, etc.)
That’s why you’re getting all the surprise when you say you love lifting but aren’t trying to find a way to lift when you have a month or whatever off. In THIS PARTICULAR SUBSET OF PEOPLE, that is not what “loving lifting” means. To us, it means you like it but could do without.
I PERSONALLY would rather spend $10 to make that half hour drive and work out than spend $10 to go to a movie, for one example. I just don’t believe you are going to spend zero dollars and sit inside for a month straight, so just be honest you have other priorities and don’t say it’s impossible.
I’m not saying you are a bad person or anything like that, but I’m just promoting being realistic with yourself - the stronger you get, the harder it is to get stronger, and it will be difficult if not impossible for most people to hit 495 without a high level of consistency and dedication. Just want you to be realistic with yourself.
Also, out of curiosity, if you don’t lift over xmas break, does this mean you don’t lift at all during summer break as well?
Don’t listen to these Mellon farmers. Take a break if you want there is more to life than lifting weights. Unless of course you think you are coming up on a million dollar contract or something.

There’s nothing wrong with taking a break… but it is divergent from the goal of a 500lb pull. That’s all I’m sayin.

I don’t lift in the summer. I run and do bodyweight exercises. I suppose you could say I’m not obsessed with lifting but rather obsessed with exercising?

Not planning on any sort of contract anytime soon lol

I cared a lot when I was in his shoes. Hell I still do. Any lift is meaningless without perspective in my opinion. I am constantly on the lookout for what kind of lifts other people have at or around my bodyweight, because I want to compete with them and best them.

I guess you could say that I’m part of the 98% then. I’m actually pretty cheap when it comes to money so I guess that’s part of it too maybe. I really don’t do much and most of the time I do just sit inside. I have moved a lot in my life and don’t have any real friends where I live at the moment except for my family. Everything I do is with my family.

Good job working out everyday. I am just trying to provide some “non weightlifting” ideas for training.
Rosstraining.com is a great resource for such. He pulled over 5 bills, and rarely deadlifts. Does a ton of stuff with home made implements though.
I’ve actually been interested in tire flipping. Stupid question but where could I get one?

At a tire store. In all seriousness, they get in old tires all the time, that’s how I got mine. If you look around enough, you should be able to find a large tractor tire without too much trouble. Generally if the tire is in shit condition, you can get it for free. I don’t know where you live, but asking an actual farmer for an old one can work too.

Thank you. I live in southeast Kansas so there are some farmers I could ask.

Right around 200. And also about the tire, flip’s right, if you’re lucky enough to find a shitty old tractor tire, they’re usually more than happy to just let you take it off their hands free of charge!

525 dead, ~350 bench, and a squat somewhere between 400 and over 9000. I’m always attracted to deadlift threads though lol. Deadlift is my favorite; I would love more than anything to get it over 600lbs. It just feels like the ultimate expression of strength!

Yeah I would say that it’s my favorite, too.

You obviously don’t want advice, you want people to tell you that what youre doing is a good idea and to argue with people who dont. Regardless of what people say you’re gonna do what you want to do so just shut up, take your month off, and then lift again.
For the record, I pulled 407 weighing 126.6 at Raw Nationals last year so theres my credibility
