yeah seems like sometimes when guys get to a certain size they get a hulking, hunched forward, arms way out to the side look. I know a guy my height but about forty-fifty pounds heavier. at my height that’s a lot of muscle over a small body and he looks like that guy on the last pics. arms way out and hunched forward.
Nah, hes purposly holding his arms out liek that to gauge his lat development www.johnstonefitness.com/
Scroll down a bit on the main page of his website and he has a side shot of himself now, right beside one of him when he started and his posture is fine.
I call Photoshop. He changed too much from March to April of the first year. In the last half of the pictures his head was obviously too small for the rest of his body. He looked like a pinhead, literally.

I don’t know, it looks like he still has that scar on his lower abdomen throughout all of the pictures, unless he photoshopped that in too.
They all look like the same body. He did seem to blow up more during some months, but muscle gain isn’t linear anyway.
I for one don’t believe the photoshop theory. it looks like this guy has made some great progress over the last 4 years. Put on some good size, leaned out, and looks healthier overall.
care to share any of the diet/training plan with us (if available)? I for one am curious how he stayed so lean while bulking, it looks like his body fat almost never increased.

It’s amazing that people think that the photos have been photoshoped and/or that he has used roids.
It simply shows how many people think that what he has done is unachievable.
The gains that guy made are exactly what you would expect of any one eating and lifting hard for 4 years without steriods.

I think the idea of steroid use comes from months 11/1/06 to 1/1/06, he blows up by ~10 lbs despite visible abs. Apart from that its funny to see him start lifting and dieting till he gets to single digit bf, and starts bulking. Also around year four he finally starts smiling.

Again, these are NOT pictures of me. My friend sent me this link because he knows that I’m into lifting.
I don’t know anything more about this guy than you guys do.

I take it you’ve never made any significant progress in the gym. Too bad for you.
This is a terrific post - very inspirational and a reminder that Rome was not built in a day.
That is about the progress a person of average genetics should make. The guy in those pics has made great progress, but he does not have any super genetics or anything. He is also not “roided out.”
He must have done a full-body routine and eschewed direct arm work.

I was reading things about that. Got me pretty scared about being a hunch back. I heard it’s due to improper stretching. But anyways, it’s nice to see a pic by pic progress. Helps me map out what I may look like after so and so months and if I haven’t reached something similar I’m doing something wrong. Nice stuff.
I think some of the comments attached to the pics are interesting - many are commenting that he looked better after the first few pictures and that he should have stopped after that! I have to wonder what these people are thinking.
Also, I can’t believe all the photoshop comments. This guy actually posts his picture on his site every single day. There’s no photoshop involved.

lol
I was thinking the same thing, but you have to remember that we are a part of a very small and insignificant sub-culture.
Sometimes it’s hard to see or remember that we are, but its true.
Didn’t that guy ever hear shoulder exercises? He looks better in the earlier pics, because it’s proportionate. Where the hell are his lats? Do some shrugs for christ’s sake!
