365 Bench Press Race

By the way now I feel like I have to defend my relevancy in this thread haha.

I’ve done a T&G 405 in the gym, but I was a fatass (242) and the spotter had his hands all over it. I’d like to think it was unnecessary but it doesn’t matter either way. Hands on the bar = no lift.

Since getting my weight down (220-230 range) I’ve paused 365-370 consistently, but at 5’9" and not exactly lean I’ve decided I can be healthier and more competitive at 198. Also my best meet bench is only 335.

An update on my progress: weight is dropping nicely and it seems to not be affecting my bench. I feel like I’m gonna be damn close on meet day. Squats are another story, and another thread heh.

I’ll get in this. I was real close as a month ago I hit 315x5. A week after that I smashed my elbow really bad out hunting and I barely managed 315x2 last week when I tried benching again. Hopefully my elbow can heal up so I can make a run at it.

I’m nowhere close to 365 but how do some of the stronger guys in here feel about OHP’s and their carryover to your bench

I’m not that strong but i have 0 carryover from ohp to bench. When I could strict press 185 I benched 265. I’m probably around 175 or 185 right now and my best bench is 325

Raising my bench definitely helps my OHP. I don’t know yet whether it works the other way around.

Same. If anything my bench makes my overhead worse.

Coming along. Got 320 for 5 reps today.

I’m in. Best so far is 340 TNG, 320 paused.

Late to the thread, but Im getting 5 good reps at 315, so Im in. Been to 400 before, but making this run, sans secret training sups, See how that goes.

Go for it on a good day. The guy’s I’ve known who hit it all got 365 right around the same exact time they could hit 315 for 5.

Thanks csulli, Im running 531, with 350 training max, so I think Im there, just taking my time comming back from long layoff. Surprized how quick everything comes back, even natty.
Side note getting 205 for 5 military, don`t feel OHP does much for my bench either way

I think this is a good thread to post this: Does anyone else here choke in meets?

I had a meet Saturday, first attempt at 341 red lighted for ass off the bench. Second attempt 341 easy 3 whites. Third attempt hit a brick wall sticking point with 350 or 360 something, don’t remember.

Today I got 300x11 and worked up in singles to 405 T&G.

I understand theres a few variables here that led to less weight (competition pause, didn’t have to make weight, etc) but theres no way it should be a 50 pounds difference, and not only that but a lot of people set their PR’s at meets, whereas I struggle to hit 90% of my gym lifts at meets (its similar with squat and deadlift too)

Anyone else dealt with this?

I hope its not to late to get into this. I did a 330 paused in comp last year, did 345 paused in the gym about 6 months ago, regressed a bit on cube, but then started to make some great gains running like a juggernaut/westside/cube thing that i did. At bw of 185(ish) i did 300 pounds for 7 reps yesterday. I got a comp November 2nd where im going to attempt 365! thats the goal anyways

Also, i have done 365 TNG before, but that was like 6 months ago, then i started to regress
