320 Log at 199lb BW

Does anyone have me beat at under 200 pounds?
Trying to see if it would be worth it to travel for a record breaker contest at some point in the future.

That log just popped up. I certainly haven’t got you beat (and I’m not under 200 at the moment). How much time do you spend with a log and how much with a barbell?

Oh man, I typed out a lengthy post that was fairly detailed and it didn’t post… Basically I always have a form of strict pressing in my programming, I manipulate my sets, reps, and rest periods and basically always make sure I am progressing in one way shape or form. Tiny jumps on top of tiny jumps make something big eventually; not that my strict press is very impressive to be honest (200 for 2 reps is the most I have ever done).

Leading into certain contests I will train my log clean and press for around 6-8 weeks max. At times I have done 5/3/1 which really forced me to use lower percentages and due to that I said heck with it and vipered all the reps that I could and I believe that vipering developed some brute pressing strength to go along with my efficient and explosive jerk. Leading up to worlds I trained the log for 6 weeks. The last 4 weeks of training looked like 6 sets x 3 reps at 70%, then 8 sets of 2 reps at 80%, then 10 sets of 1 rep at 90%.

Then the 4th week I attempted a max but failed at 300 twice. After worlds I went back to my strict press with a priority on bench work for a powerlifting competition that I was doing at the end of March. Then a couple weeks later after I did some strict pressing I decided to give a max log a shot since I didn’t get the chance to test it at worlds and that’s when the 320 happened.

Basically my philosophy is that if I continue to increase my static/brute pressing strength via strict pressing that my triceps will continue to get stronger for a heavy lockout and along with getting my legs stronger via my typical training that my push jerk should continue to improve.

You so Strong!! 305 for me so no! Aaron Fondry is about 330 I believe

Is Fondry under 200?? If he is I’ll have him beat by the end of the summer.

James Wards world record at 198, 363lbs. I think he’ll manage 375 this year.

I’m still shocked that he managed to grind that last one out. He completely stalled at his forehead, but stuck with it.

I believe Chase Karnes has hit 330+.

I’ve been there, and mine never get locked out lol.

I’ve seen video of his 320, but never heard about 330, so I’m not sure of that

That 363 is absolutely insane, damn brits. I don’t believe chase has hit a 330. He also generally weighs closer to 220 than he does to weighing under 200 although I know he was under briefly for the World Championships.
