I’m not a fan of squatting with such a narrow stance, nor squatting on plates.
Neither am I a fan of walking several paces outward with a heavy ass load on my person (exerting the energy needed to accomplish that seems illogical to me. I’d rather conserve it and use that potential energy for one more rep).
In addition, as others have already chimed in, your bf number is utter nonsense. There is no way you’re at 3-4%, thus you’re goal of getting “as strong as possible on every lift while staying under 5% bf” is laughable at best.
…and even if the bf was correct, that goal would still be idiotic to me.
In addition, standing at 6’2" and only weighing 191 lbs. would be something I’d address immediately, especially if your pursuit (as you stated) is to powerlift.
I’m hard pressed to believe you’re going to be putting up significant numbers at that weight in comparison to others your height who actually take the shit serious enough to achieve their potential weight-wise with little regard for a low bf.
Blah…
…I think you’re robbing yourself…
Maybe he isn’t competing with anyone else. And he probably doesn’t give a shit what you believe.

Nice OP what’s your height and weight?
im 6’2 191…at about 3.8% bf…checked last week at the gym…i was 2.8 a month ago…i just chuck it up to genetics…cuz my diet is decent…not great.

You know that the electronic measuring is wrong and you are actually no where near 2.8-3.8% BF right?

x2
Take a picture holding up a shoe and we will determine what your bf% really is.
Hahahaha, it never gets old. Good work.
Also, gregs right… There are too many factors that alter the electronic readings.
And he probably doesn’t give a shit what you believe.
…he posted his vid for what then?
What I or anybody else believes is only of merit if it’s unadulterated adulation and dick sucking?
Had I given him praise, minus critique for improvement, would you have retorted with the same nonsense of “he probably doesn’t give a shit what you believe”?
…you’re being wholly inconsistent with your ideology.
I recently switched from back to front squats. kudos on switching. I’ve heard lots of good things about better quad development and less ass development coming from that kind of switch.
I do both. Elevated front squats make for a pretty vicious quad movement, Though i would never substitute front squats for actual squats. That’s like saying “Im not gonna brush my teeth anymore, so instead im just gonna use mouth wash.” Especially if you were talking about powerlifting, removing any of your major compound lifts would not be beneficial.
[edit] came up with a better analogy:
I love baking, but im not a fan of turning on my oven, so im just gonna make the mix, and sit in a bowl outside. Hopefully the freeloading Sun will do its job!
Nice vid op, but I can’t front squat to save my life. I can’t balance the bar on my shoulders, it hurts like hell and it’s choking me like crazy. Like not in 1 million years to be able to front squat. And I have decent shoulder mass, also there are some 60kg oly weightlifters with no shoulders that balance the bar just fine. Back squats are doing their job for me, and for god’s sake a nice muscular butt is a nice thing.
I don’t wanna have boulderlike shoulders big back and a girl’s ass, just it isn’t right.

both in one workout, or do you alternate them? i do front squats one day, then next leg day is back squats, but just wondering what others are doing and how well it works out. it seems to me that it would be too demanding and/or unsafe to do both of them in one day (at least going relatively heavy)
and not to derail this thread - nicely done to the OP. keep pushing yourself - i’m hoping for 315 sometime soon as well so that’s some nice motivation. also, FWIW, i agree that both variations should be kept in your rotation

Yea i can do both in the same workout. The big, Major compound lifts always stay. The front squat itself would just be another Quad isolation movement to me, no differently viewed than 1 leg quad extension. i find it terribly wrong to say it that it “would be too demanding and/or unsafe to do both of them in one day.” ALL the movements one performs should be “demanding”
i see your point, and of course every movement should be demanding or difficult if you’re pushing yourself - what i meant was more demanding to recover from. i can see your point about front squats being viewed as an isolation exercise, but a leg extension is a bit less taxing on the rest of your body than a front squat (especially for someone your size that probably uses a ton of weight on both back and front squats). not to say you’re wrong, since it clearly works out well for you. i just wondered if you thought it would be too much as far as recovering from doing both in one day. i’ve done it a few times and one movement generally ends up being way lighter than i would go if i separate them, or else i am just totally fried and/or feel like i’m going to hurt myself if i try to go heavy on both. i know the weight isn’t really the point, and you just want to stimulate the muscle, but i think you get my point. thanks for your input though, maybe i’ll try hitting them both at once again one of these days.

Strong lifts OP but that is a fucked up powerlifting front squat.
Front squat viewed the same as leg extensions…wow, this is just stupid.

Haha, your comments never cease to amuse me
GREAT squat OP! I would say to go a bit lower to get good depth but I’m nowhere near that weight so I’ll just bite my tongue. Pull-up vid was impressive as well
Is squatting with 10 pound plates under your heels bad for your knees? I’m going to start these, because my back starts to round at the bottom of my front squat, so this may help (also better quads)

Well, I think it’s safe to say you are damn strong for a 190-pounder. Seems to me you would want to stay at that weight and get as strong as possible per your stated goal of powerlifting, but I guess Got_ate feels differently. Keep it up, that was an impressive lift.
OP: congrats on the squat, big numbers for a front squat overall.
regarding your second video…Have you every tried doing chins the other way so that your chest/head can go past the bar, and not just “barely” touching it. Its great to see them being done by a dead-hang, but you could definitely go up more. By no means could I do BW+3 45s, but getting yourself over the bar is a lot better. (From what I’ve read and from what I’ve done myself)
I know im not 3% bf…but im definitely not 8-10%…i took a picture so u guys can decide…i forgot the shoe though…hopefully that wouldn’t skew the numbers…
