Does the hockey interfere with the weight lifting at all or is weight lifting helping the hockey? Which is the most important?
Just curious.

Using hockey as my cardio. I seem to do ok with both.

The weight lifting has helped with my pushing the defense out of the way in front of the other team’s net…

Just catching up. That’s some heavy DB work up there. Nice training. Sorry to hear the right arm is still buggered. These things seem to take awhile.

And the pic of your friend is stunning. Must make it a little hard to concentrate. Is your daughter still lifting? Doing figure? It seems like maintaining such a low BF percentage is hard on a lot of women who do it.

Congrats on the fat loss. Patience. Slow and steady wins that deal.

Tuesday - 6/7

Lunch - Chest

BW Dips 20, 11, 9, 6, 7 - 1 minute rest between sets

Bench Press 135 lbs x 8, 135 lbs x 8, 155lbs x 5, 155lbs x 5, 155lbs x 5 - right side felt off, weak

One arm Dumbbell Bench 30 lbs x 12, 35 lbs x 10, 40 lbs x 8, 45 lbs x 8, 50 lbs x 6

Dumbbell Flys 20lbs x 12, 25 lbs x 12, 30 lbs x 12, 35 lbs x 8 - Right pec/side hurt.

Pullovers 3 sets - 55 lbs x 12

Close Tri Pushups 10, 8, 10, 9 - feet on balance ball, one minute rest between sets

Hockey Skills - 85 minutes. Ouch.

Thanks Puff.

My daughter stopped doing figure for now. She went and got married, and is focusing on school.

Lol, about distracting.

I have done heavier on the DB work, trying to get the right side back up…

On 5/16, I got 225 lbs up on bench for one rep. 185 lbs for 5 reps.

Now I’d be lucky to do 185 one rep :frowning:

I hate setbacks.

Wednesday - 6/8

More of a mess at work…

Missed lunch work out :frowning:

Hockey - 75 minutes, 1 assist.

Annual fish fry in parking lot after scrimmage. Grilled Salmon, chicken tenders, cod, smelt, coconut shrimp, chicken wings, fires… and a lot of beer…

Well, you got your hockey in. A good ending to a disappointing day. Nice.

And that tailgating party food is just making me really hungry. Yum!

EDIT: So you passed on some muscle genes to your daughter anyway. Do you have other kids who are athletes, or into lifting? Not counting the two little ones we’ve seen. They look like they are probably into all kinds of things.

Colleen, my oldest @ 21 played ice hockey with the boys and was on the State High School Championship Team her Jr and Sr year. She played with some elite girls/womens teams in the Midwest. She had some spectacular fights, usually with the Canadian girls…

Sebastian, my oldest boy and the Marine, plays hockey. VERY WELL.

He is incredibly fast on the ice. His last travel hockey couch (When sebi was 12) told me he never saw a kid as fast as my son at that age. This was a man who’s oldest son was Captain of Team USA Under 16 and Under 17 competing in Europe in tournaments…

Sebi also did short track speed skating for a couple of years. He set all the Class B 14 yo course records at the annual St Louis Silver Skate. Apollo Ono set all the Class A records.

He likes to lift too.

Donovan, my 17 yo, does cross country and soccer.

Marguarite, my 15 yo did cross country, basketball, and track her freshman year. She ran for Varsity for the 400 and the 4x400 relay.

Killian, my 13 yo, has no interest in sports, but I’m sure he will find something he will like to do.

Molly @ 10 is just happy playing with her siblings and likes to go ice skating.

Evelyn @ 8 likes skating and wants to learn hockey.

Rowan @ 5 likes to chase Hawthorne around.

Hawthorne (Thor) @ 3 just runs around and hits everything.

I think I covered them all…

Pic from the fish fry…

oops… I’m tired and did not notice the pic was upside down…

Let’s try again…

Fighting Canadian girls? but were so nice. 0:-)

Lots of active kids, it’s good that you all have similar interests(ice) but for the purpose of cost don’t you wish sometimes they would just be into running only. Hockey can be expensive. But better to have a sport to keep them busy (little 2busys).

Tailgating I think is a very American thing, I’ve never heard of Canadians doing it. Sounds yummy.

Wow about your kids! Such an athletic and active family. And you do have some great kid’s names! I like them all, and they go together. That little Hawthorne is adorable.

Charlie - I’m guessing tailgate parties in Canada would end up being just a bunch of drunk people with frostbite.

Thursday - 6/9

Long day…

Back and Squats…

Reverse Grip Pullups 7, 5, 7, 6, 5

Bent Over Row - 135 lbs x 12, 155 lbs x 10, 95 lbs x 12…

175 lbs x 5
195 lbs x 4 - Form went off. Did not hit parrellel thighs. Low back hurt.
0 x 10 - focused on form, getting thighs low
195 lbs x 5 - got a trainer over to spot me. Form was better, still not quite low enough.
Had targeted doing 215 lbs, walked away from it because of back pain.

I had been progressing well with the squats, so I was upset with the setback.

About 2 hours after the gym it dawned on me that my back pain was probably from the fact that I had done all the back lifting BEFORE squats…

Hockey tournament over the weekend. Was captain of a thrown together team with 6 players who drove 3 hours to play.

Lost all 3 games. No goals. One fight. At least I got on the score-sheet.

Souvenir from the hockey tournament…

:frowning: My favorite hockey stick is gone…

Sucks about your shoulder too.
Will you be going in to the docs to have it checked out?

Oh and here’s a puck bunny to make it all better!

Thanks CH for the Puck Bunny.

I was beginning to feel like I was just talking to myself in here.

I might go see the doctor. I’m sure it’s some nerve that was pinched from the long drive I took at the end of May.

Last time they prescribed me steroids.
