$250 a Month for a Boxing Gym?

I’d pay that if I had Emanuel Steward or Freddie Roach as my trainer. I paid $30 a month for the boxing gym that I went to. Right now I pay $85 a month for jiu jitsu.

But both your jiu jitsu and boxing training combined doesn’t amount to how much I’d have to spend just to box.

It would be a cold day in hell before I paid that much for a gym. Unless it comes with a company vehicle!

Pat Militech charges $105 a month for everything. But that’s in Bettendorf, Iowa.

I’m at a MFS gym in St.Louis and it’s about $130 for everything so that sounds about right. Matt Hughes just opened a gym not too far from me and even they are less than that, AND they have a full weight facility included, not to mention one of the nicest training facilities in the country.

I dunno if I can think of any serious martial artists I know who have the kind of day job income to pay that. If people can afford $250 a month to box, I’m curious as to what kind of crowd you’ll find. It might be like joining Bally’s.[/quote]

I’m pretty sure I go to the same gym you do. Is it on Kingshighway?

I just changed to a new gym which offers alot of stuff, but I’m doing wrestling and muay thai twice a week each, and it has a full (albeit not the best) weights facility. It’s going to cost me about $100 a month.

I’m with Xen, great avatar. Now if only I could take Meagen Good…put her in my avatar…and have both her and Jessica Biel do the same motion…and me causing the motion. Hmmm.

Yeah I saw pictures and stuff on the website and it def looks really cool! And I’m sure the training is great. Have you been there or trained there at all? A couple guys from my gym and I are going to check it out sometime soon but we all have full contracts with our current gym anyway.

$250 is too much.

The Militech gym in Houston is $140.

Yves Edwards, Tim Credeur and a few others teach at Revolution Dojo. “All styles” used to run $160 but I hear they have gone up a little.

You can find little gyms here and there for much less though.

For a strictly boxing gym, your price is pretty shitty. Ask for a list of past champs and if you get to train with them on a regular basis.

Dude your getting ripped off big time. Look on the net and find a hole in the wall boxing gym. If there is a strong musting odor when you first enter and old photos of the greats on the walls your probably in the right place.

On a side note the amount of money that BJJ/MMA schools charge is unreal, and utterly insane in some places.

can anyone reccomend a good place to train in long island, preferably nassau county? mma type place. I am a novice and would like something that will be great for getting shape as well as improve my fighting skills.
