as i’m so find of saying…weight, measurements, 1RM - they are just numbers. ok you’ve reached 250. needless to say if your 70 lb gain was attained in large part due to fat then it’s not much of a goal to be trumpeting about.
where is the OP?

just 1 day
we cut the guy a break and congratulate him. He did something a great deal of us haven’t been able to do, and its something. Its more than something, the guy has gained a great deal of weight and added on a great deal of strength.
For 1 day, congratulate him and let’s all revel in the success he’s made. Tomorrow, we all return to strive for his and our improvement, but for today, just one day, shut the fuck up and say something good.
if we did that, it would force most of us to take a long hard look at why we arent accomplishing the goals we set for ourselves. much easier to just right off someone elses efforts.

No, just no. That’s really not why.

That’s such a copout, especially for the OP. If he wants to succeed it’s probably helpful to have people that will give him perspective. Sure some of the comments lacked the constructive part of constructive criticism, but there are enough people giving rational thoughts to make the thread productive for him. He gained weight, good, now gain it better.

lol@ rewarding him for getting fat. what if he went backwards from his goal and started out 250 then worked down to his 180 “pencil neck” frame. would you still congragulate him for being small and weak? i mean he achieved his goal still right?
this site is fucking ass-backwards. you will reward someone for getting big just because theyre big but flame the shit out of people who say they want to cut just to have abs or be “fit”.
ass-fucking-backwards.
I wouldn’t have a problem if some fat 250lber wanted to be a shredded 180lbs… to each his own.
I do have a problem with 160-170lbs people who start dieting away and end up looking like some abercrombie model with abs but skinny bitch arms.
This is still bodybuilding and building muscle should be the goal no matter what the weight is.
His lifts are slightly weak for his weight, but that can change. He may be fat or may not be we don’t know, but even so if he was lifting the whole time and threw on that much size to meet a personal goal of his then he deserves some credit and positive criticism instead of just shooting him down right away…
Ass-backwards is the fucktards in this forum who don’t ever meet their goals and who never have ANYTHING good to say for the people who are actually busting their ass and meeting their goals.
Not a slam at you as I know you meet your goals…just people in this forum in general…I can see and agree with what you are saying, but I also think that anybody who makes it to a goal of their deserves a little credit, as long as that goal is geared towards building muscle…since this is bodybuilding…not just bodylookinggood or bodyletsgetfit, or bodywannabebradpitt, I could go for days. lol ![]()
I think the reason that many people stress bulking over cutting on a bodybuilding forum in what is supposed to be a bodybuilding site is because many people do not carry enough muscle to start a proper ‘cut’ Regaurdless of if you want to be a pro bber or not, I think we all agree that we want more muscle than your avg. guy and would all like to stand out on the beach, at dinner, and in the gym for the hard work we put in the gym.
DG
gaining 70 pounds and 10 of it being muscle is hardly accomplishing a goal or worth the effort.
most people untrained at 250 would have numbers probaly close to what hes doing. at least for the squat.
i dont know how you can be 250@even 20% bodyfat and have such weak numbers, unless hes deadlifting 405 for 10 for sets of 3 or something. but the way he worded it made it seem like a 1RM.
if you 1RM 405@250 you did something wrong. its like having a car with 500 horsepower that takes 20 seconds to do a quarter mile, something just aint right.
I can agree with that…but without more info from the op we won’t really know i guess. lol
I guess because I hang with people who do meet their goals properly that I am quick to congratulate where I guess with this forum I should be the opposite.
Good post and analogies. lol
DG
youre right. without pictures, videos or some kind of visual proof this whole thing boils down to mere speculation. but thats what the internets for anyway, right?
anyway, the guy had like double digit posts for over a year, i doubt hes coming back to this thread anytime soon.
As much of a critical jackass as I enjoy being… Wow, good work! The most I ever gained in two years was 50lbs lean, although I consider that a shit-ton. Time for some good ol’ bulking, methinks.
BTW Gerdy, if the car has 500hp and has a slow quarter mile, it’s probably a very heavy truck… Which kinda explains most of the logic in this thread…
OP’s gone…
after reading this my guess is the op will be back in another 2 years 7 months with a 600lbs deadlift, 700 squat and a 400 lbs bench?
Or maybe it was just some troll who wanted to see if all the “Just eat people would be happy”

he’d have to weigh 600 pounds too
I checked out the OP’s profile and it says he last logged in today. So he’s probably been reading this thread.

Or a 700lb deadlift and a 600lb squat…
The correct way to refer to your current weight is 1.5 Oprah.
OK we can agree that his numbers @250 are weak to most, but without pics can we call him a fat ass? We can generalize he is a pussy but lets not call him fat without pics.
Good job at gaining weight.
Hey, over 300 is good enough for squatting I think. Not anywhere near bad enough that I’d write something about it. Maybe he’s doing 5 sets of 10 with it. I’d give him a bit of a break.

I never thought I’d have to justify adding size and strength on this forum. Embarassing.
Apologies for not holding a shoe in either pic, but I’m about 20% bf right now with the majority in a pouch up front. Arms still pinch 10mm.
Now if you’re done staring at my junk, maybe you can throw some constructive comments my way, re: getting stronger. I’m doing Bill Starr 5x5 and microloading each week with the pink plates. I go heavy every workout, no breaks. Suggestions welcome.
Thanks for the support. I’m glad some real BB’ers chimed in here, that makes me lucky to have y’alls.
