what is your point?
dude I ws just mentioning a fact…
And I’m just asking what your point is? What is the point you’re trying to get at by mentioning those “facts”? (which aren’t actually facts. George Washington was the first president of the united states-fact. The worlds largest animal is a blue whale-fact. The freezing point for water is 32 degrees fahrenheit-fact… Those are facts )
they are not facts like ‘George Washington was the first president of the united states-fact’ that’s y i said according to men’s health… If u read the above posts u can understand that somebody was saying that an average man’s arm size is 11 inch which according to men’s health is not true. that’s the point!!

I don’t do deadlifts.

I don’t squat with a barbell (anymore for years).

He has also served in Iraq for a year without knowing if each day was going to be his last. I’d say Ghandi was an ultimate bad ass too, but wait, he’s just a pussy because he had 10 in arms, right? Yeah but Ghandi had an Iron Jaw and could walk across a country without the aid of a fanny pac bladder, now that is a bad azz…Oh and Ghandi had 6" arms.

Well T-Nation is a bodybuilding website so…
Even so, they are just one body part. It’s one thing to care about it from a physique perspective, but to use it as a gauge for cutting down other guys and calling them pussies because they have “small” arms…I guess I don’t get it. I look at what a man does, not how big his arms are.
WTF?

Why would we be discussing anything but things related to weight lifting on this site as far as "what makes a human being’? Guess what, most of us do have lives outside of the gym and we can STILL judge whether someone is wasting their time by the overall progress made. If you aren’t even trying to gain muscle mass than no one cares what you do.

Why even respond?

Anyone who thinks a height above 5’7 or a bicep size above 13 inches is ‘normal’ is deluding themselves.
If you restrict your study to North America and some parts of Europe, then yes, that is small (even though the average height of an american male is 5’9).
However, in every other part of the world, those dimensions are perfectly normal.
Just because you have the luxury to eat as much as you want, with the best training knowledge and equipment in the world, doesn’t mean it’s “normal”.
The american population accounts for 4 percent of the world’s entire population.
This is like comparing Jay Cutler to the average gym goer.
“Well why would I compare it to anyone who hasn’t been a serious body builder for at least ten years”.
Why would someone in America care about comparing themselves to anyone BUT the other people in America as far as this topic? Why would I compare myself to people I never see or interact with simply because they exist?

The average height for a grown man here is NOT 5’7". That is considered short here. Also, no one was talking about “13” arms". We specifically said ELEVEN INCH arms on a grown man. You basically wasted time writing this seeing as you are arguing shit no one has brought up.
The very first thing you posted was about 11’ being the global (that means worldwide not just america) standard being much more than 11 inches. The german simply pointed out that if we are talking global standards then the majority of the people in the world being skinny asians, indians and africans, probably keeps the average arm width pretty low.

It all seems pretty sr8 forward. Americans, and texans eat one of the best diets in the world for getting huge, whether it’s fat or muscle. So, I would say in any way arguing this is closer to the average world male is just moronic.

Wrong. I said that most grown men on the [planet don’t have 11" arms. You have not proven that wrong and neither has the other poster. He needed to use “13 inches” just to comment.

What’s funny is I don’t see ANY of you nitpicking what anyone else writes on this forum to this degree.

I think about the size disparity between the offender and the offendee.

OK, I just have to reply to this one. While Prof X may be abrasive at times, I find myself agreeing with him most of the time over the last 5 or so years.

When I was 20 years old, I did indeed have 11.5" arms. I’m a 5’8.5" ectomorph.

Oh, BTW, I forgot to mention that I was an effin’ NCAA DI Cross Country/5000m track runner at the time!!! I ran 80 miles per week, mostly at 6:30 per mile pace or much faster, could run sub-15:00 for 5000m (~4:50/mile for 3.1 miles) on the track, and ran 7 days/week, with 2/days on MWF. I had a VO2 max in the mid-upper 70’s, and could sprint 400m in ~52s.

I was also 129-131 lbs competition weight. Seriously, I looked like an escaped POW. And I STILL had arms larger than 11". Being so scrawny was my impetus for studying weight training, and subscribing to MM2k back in 1997. I’ve since gained as much as 4.5+" on my arms and as much as 45lbs of lbm (and a few lbs of bf), but do still have the distance runner frame, and I’m sure I always will. I’m sure with some additional proper training and nutrition, I could see 185-190lbs @ 10% bf, with 16-17" arms, even at my height, frame, and endurance background.

So if you’re an ectomporphic competitive endurance athlete, weighing under 135lbs @ 5% bf, at 5’8" or less, then yes, you might have arms around 11". Otherwise, Prof X is exactly right, and you need to proceed to the nearest Wendy’s and promptly eat 3 cheeseburgers.

You kind of have to wonder why anyone would argue that 11" arms are normal for a grown man. What kind of men are these? They sure as hell aren’t active. They aren’t carpenters or field hands. They don’t do much manual labor. How is that normal across the board for grown men?

I have been to other countries. I have been to third world South America in a jungle where they had NO gyms and some of the dudes walking around were still more developed than some of the people on this website.

That is fucking pathetic and it says more about how weak some of the people are here if they truly WANT to believe that this is “average”.

i will reiterate… WHO GIVES A SHIT ABOUT AVERAGE? Why would you want to be average or compare yourself to what is the average? I dont get it?

When you have someone who is BELOW average they strive for Average, so probably half the guys on this site, start out BELOW average (or stay). So arguing about what is average, makes the BELOW guys feel better. Get it?
