225 Power Clean at 17

As a general rule, nothing over 5 is fast unless you are over 300. In high school I ran a 4.92 at 225. Squatted 455 benched 365 and cleaned 275, made all state and couldn’t find a DI scholarship. So just remember, your never fast or strong enough.

lol are a fukin serois 8.30 is crap. When I used to weigh 140 in fresh I ran a 5.45 and that was like 5th to last in my track. 5.1 is very slow now that I know but I think I ended up getting a 4.6 and I heard wrong and thought it was 5.6 but it was really 4.6. You must be some fat mudafuka if you think 8.30 is good. Anyone agree?

Well I run a 4.60 and maybe a 4.92 aint that good. Although i am not really sure. I bench around 340 clean 255(power clean) and squat around 405. I am very good balance and I think what I have is heart. Me being 5 7 I had to work harder than anyone else. I had to work out like an animal. I ruined half of my life lifting, eating, and sleeping just to get a little better but. I get the job done cause I know notbody will get the job done for me.

Tough crowd so you may not find the answers you are looking for but your posted question is hard to decipher as well.

I am not certain what a squat clean is and I have been involved with football for over 20 years. I think snatches are term you are looking for but I have been wrong before.

In any event, the power cleans is going to be your best best to create explosiveness and strength.

Sprints and bleachers are good too.

You should search the archives for football workouts. We have had several threads about it.
thank you.

I was 205 and ran 4.7 when I graduated HS. That was considered DECENT. Your height says you need to slim down. Once you do slim down, your size will dictate that you should run 4.6 at a maximum. Unless you grow a few inches, in which case you should be a hard 205 and run 4.7. Learn this early, be harder on yourself than anybody else, be realistic about yourself, and always see if there is any merit at all to any advice you are given. If you are slow, fat, weak, admit it and change it. Nobody faults the slow, fat, weak guy for being that way unless he thinks he’s not and isn’t trying to improve.
I do need to slim down but I think that it would be a better idea to keep the weight and I am still fast and maybe not as fast but im faster than all of you might think. I don’t care if I was big, strong, fast I still want to improve.

Dude, if you do keep the weight, make it lean. if you are trying to play football anywhere after HS, 5’7" 205 (even rock solid) is going to make you a full-back…maybe; and that is only if you are fast enough (i.e. 4.6). drop to 175, and work on your sprint form/flexibility and you will be a beast. You could play slot, or h-back. but lemme tell you, I played D-1 and it is no joke. the best guy on 90% of HS teams might be a practice squad on D-1. Keep the heart, but recognize your strengths and play to them. You don’t have the height (right now) to carry your weight for anything after HS.

As far as the squat-clean goes (clean motion, to very deep front squat, basically) toss it. Do heavy deads, hang cleans, and front squats, mixed with lunges romanian deads and plyo work. Shore up that posterior chain, and your overall football athleticism will go through the roof (after you drop to your proper playing weight). Good luck.

PS-fuck the distance work on running. Just do a ton of sprints of differing lengths (200m, 100m, 60yd, 40yd). It’s a more applicable form of cardio for football.

WEll first off let me tell you that 175 is too light for me. I could think about 185 cause 175 would be too lean thus I will get weak so I would if I do not get too weak with droping to 185 180. It would be better if I did not lose TOO much strength cause I would increase speed. Also I use defranco training. I went to one of his seminars and let me tell you, some good info and a lot of things from speed and flexiblity. I am very flexible but he taught me about what specific streches to do for better performance. I Didn’t join track for long distance. Some of them are skinny fuks for a reason.

WOW - just plain wow?!

I have got to get me some of what ever this guy is taking.

At 17 you’ve ruined half your life??

Man, that sucks that you’re not gonna make it to 35. I didn’t realise. I’ll lay off now.

Your on the short side.

Your strength is below average, especially for your weight at that height.

Your weight itself is comprised by a considerable percentage of fat, and even then its only 205, which is not very heavy.

Your not very fast.

Your not going to make it playing football past highschool.

I would focus on dieting down, then bulking up in a cleaner, slower fashion.

Your never going to play professional sports, and if you do make it to college it will be for some complete scrub school in the middle of nowhere.

Trust me, it will help to get a jump start on dieting down while you still have lots of time (highschool, summer, etc) Its harder to get things done in college, and much harder to establish healthy habits.

Your strength would be decent if you could lose some of that fat, you might not be able to play football, but that doesnt mean you cant be a decent lifter and athletic guy in college.

In Olympic training, a newbie learns the power clean before he learns the ‘full clean’.

This squat-clean you refer to is actually called a full clean.

So, yes, from an olympic training standpoint you are again suggested to stick to/ start with the power clean.

Unless you are addressing a weakness, my coach doesn’t get me to do Hang clean. Instead he taught me ‘touch-and-go’ technique.
Nothing special, it just means you only let the plates touch the ground for a split second before you do your next rep. Keeps explosiveness, reduces pause-rep rest, and shortens sets time length.

If you are playing football at that height, I too would suggest dieting down below 200. How far down is up to how much muscle you have.
Speed training is easy, you know what to do. Build up an speed-endurance until you can do 4x200s a 100 and a 400 all in one session. I used to spew, but I got there.
Dont neglect your xyard dashes.

Good luck with the football.

OP, seriously. Read what these people have to say. Westclock gave you a VERY solid advice. Have a look in the mirror and accept the fact that mate, you NEED to cut down. To be muscular is a thing, but eh…mate you look very soft and do have excess fat. Heck I am cutting down at the moment, and do have clearly more mass, just saying.

Listen mate, not trying to make you feel inferior or picking on you, mind you. But why don’t you want to listen to what these guys have to tell ya? You want to improve, yes or no?

You seem to WANT to improve, so why don’t you do it the right way? Sometimes it’s hard to face the shear reality that well, you might be doing something wrong.

Just saying eh. Again, not trying to be an asshole. It should be clear.

So now you say you a 4.6 I wish you would make up your mind… I bet the reason it says 5.6, 5.7(in the roids forum) and now 4.6 is because your still trying to type fast so you just keep messing up your stats.

You want some credit for these claims I want proof get a camera and VIDEO your Bench, Power Clean, Squat and 40 on film and then I guess you win.

lol I dont want to get to lean but i wanted to know if going from 205 to 185 180 will I lose too much strength?

Look let me tell you that the typing shit was complete bullshit. The only reason I said it was cause they would not stop and I just wanted the anwser. Second like I said before 5.6 is fukin slow and now I know that. Come on do you really think I am 500 pounds slow.No. It was a retard mistake, so I figured they said 4.6 but I also said I would try it again to make sure cause I guess I heard wrong.

Just so you don’t go betting your life too many more times unnecessarily… at 6ft, 240 pounds @ an awful 25% bodyfat, and having only taken up jogging about a month before, I ran a 6:52 mile. Felt like I was going to die, but I did it.

Note: This was after doing about 6 months of only stationary bike work, to get my weight from 326 to 240.

Now that is amazing. Good job but I am not stateing I am the fastest. Just saying I am fast and fit for my weight. I could done. Although I did not feel like dieing. I could have done like 6:20 and felt like dieing.

Just to let you know I am lisening. I will cut and I never said I was hard. I said I am not Huge fat and good weight and by that I mean not super fat and good for 205 at 5 7 not that is good for my height but its good I am not fatter like many other 5 7 17 year olds.

One thing that I would like to add is that my strength is not below average. I bearly 17 and 315 2 times is really good. 205 at 17 is fat but I do have mass and good for a 17 year old that not like most 17 year olds that are 57 205 pounds.

So now you run a 4.6 40? What happened to 5.6? And a 4.92 forty isn’t that great at 225. But when I got to college and got up to 295 and still ran a 4.92 it was pretty good. And enough with the drama.
