I’m in the most excellent state of South Dakota. We don’t have Christmas in July, but winter in July can’t be ruled out as a possibility. lol
I dont know much about that State (well any of the states really). I think I remember Mount Rushmore being in South Dakota. As I like on the other side of the world our seasons are all backwards of course and it is winter now. Although winter down here is typically 15c 59f so not exactly what you would call cold. It is cold for here though and many people of northern hemisphere background will do a second Christmas in winter.
Yeah, Mount Rushmore is really the only thing that separates us from being just another Nebraska. lol
Your winter sounds AWESOME. Winter here is a “survival of the fittest” situation. It’s ridiculously cold and lasts from about the last week of October until about mid-April. So much time for Christmas in there. You should come for a visit sometime, you would LOVE it. #drippingwithsarcasm
I have family in SD. Christmas was no joke last year. -20 and -40 with windchill. It was a brutal week spent there.
Dude, FOR REAL!! And I was one of the lucky people who’s furnace vented out of the roof. The vent plugged twice and I had NO heat. It was 42 degrees in my house on Christmas Eve. Good times… lol
That happened to me about 14 years ago. No power, heat, running water (well) for 4 days over Christmas.
As someone that spent 5 winters in North Dakota, I looked at South Dakotans like Wildlings looked at the Starks.
Crazy Horse is so much more impressive.
I remember being underwhelmed by Mt Rushmore always thinking it was bigger than it actually is.

An absolute American treasure.
I always think of North Dakota as a suburb of Canada. lol
