From the players perspective, doesn’t D Murray deserve the big contract?
It’s not like RBs typically enjoy long careers with multiple paydays.
Or that anything but signing bonuses are even guaranteed.

Oh I am sure some players feel that way. I can’t give a 100% honest answer as if I think he deserves a big contract. What I can say with 100% certainty is that I don’t want the Cowboys to give him a big contract. I wouldn’t be upset at all if the Cowboys don’t even bother to offer him A contract. With the direction they have been going the last few years (D-Ware, Austin) I don’t think they will offer him one. Demarco never made it through College without missing time, this might be his first year in the pros to not miss some time, look when that is happening. Hmmmm.
I wouldn’t even start Demarco Sunday. Suit him up, and give Randle the ball. Don’t change anything you’ve been doing, just replace Murray with Randle. Use Dunbar like you have been using Randle and Dunbar. Randle is a bad dude. And that O-line is superb.

Man, in this league and with home field advantage you just never know. I could see the Saints or Falcons pulling a round 1 upset.
Honestly, I kinda don’t want to Falcons to go to the play-offs. I just want them to beat the Saints and I would be happy with that. My reasoning is that a play-ff win might save Mike Smith’s job and I think it’s time for a coaching change in Atl. His personnel moves, especially on defense is just puzzling. He doesn’t put the best people out their for the scheme. The same problems have been plaguing the team for years and neither Smith or Dimitroff have yet to address it. Lack of pass rush, terrible O-line consistent failures on 3rd down both sides of the ball. I am sick of it, I want to win and I don’t think we can with Smith at the helm.
How do you feel about Matt Ryan? I don’t follow Atlanta very closely, but it seems like he’s had some serious weapons and just isn’t getting it done.
If i’m not mistaken their O-line is not very good. A good O-line can make a mediocre QB look really good. Not saying Ryan is mediocre or anything.
Very capable of helping his team win it all. Not elite. At least not yet.

I think the union at some point needs to sit down with the league and lay out a frame work specific to running back contracts. It’s a pretty unique position as far as the toll it takes on a man’s body. Give them a per carry bonus that doesn’t count towards cap or something. Hell put the bonus in their retirement fund. There’s no way a guy should be carrying the ball as much as Murray did this year and only make 1.5 mil.
From the team’s perspective after the fact there are going to be better backs available this off season.
lol
Are dumb. What are they going to accomplish bench Cutler for Clausen? Maybe if they had a young QB in the waiting who might possibly do something. Clausen sucks and is not the answer to their problems.

THIS. Honestly I didn’t even know Clausen was still in the game.

It’s Trestman’s last stand. If he can pull out a win (or a good showing) against the Lions or Vikings then he can say that it wasn’t him or his system that failed, but the QB.
Right now, no one knows who’s getting shit-canned. Pretty sure Trestman and his staff are gone, the GM is probably 50/50. There’s some talk that Cutler could go to Tampa and play under Lovie. If I understand it correctly, Cutler is due $25MM over the next 2 years…I think you can find more than one team who will pay a starting QB $12.5MM a year.

Matt Ryan has been carrying the team for far to long. Yes, he has weapons, but he has no time in the pocket. The O-line is terrible, he typically has less than 2 seconds in the pocket. Guys can’t get into position before he has to get rid of the ball, that’s why you see so many short passes. And it’s been a problem for a long time, it’s just gotten worse. That’s why I want Dimitroff and Smith gone. They have known the problem and have made all the wrong moves to fix it. The beefed up the O-line and nearly all of the lineman got hurt for the season. For all but 2 guys, we are on our second string O-line.
Ryan made some mistakes, true, but he’s had to do it all for so long he’s bound to make mistakes.
I’d like to see what he can do with a decent O-line.
I want the Cowboys O-line. Romo can sit there and make a sandwich and then throw the ball in his pocket. Matt Ryan is hit almost every play.

Bears benching Cutler, starting Jimmy Clausen.
I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a franchise implode so spectacularly over the course of 6 months. We went from being supposed play-off contenders with a franchise QB, a quarterback friendly coach, and a built-up O-line to…a pile of steamy shit. Franchise QB is benched, coach and staff possibly getting fired, and GM may join them in the unemployment line.
I think they should start Fales.
And hire Harbaugh. Match the $48M UMich is offering and give him personnel decisions as well.
They are starting that Fales guy aren’t they? They just benched their $100 million QB. Cutler is spectacular when he’s on, but when he’s not he’s terrible. He’s a real Jekyll and Hyde QB. I think good QBs are still able to make plays even when they don’t have their best stuff. Cutler cannot do that.

It’s not that our O-line isn’t very good, they stink on ice. Worst in the league. I cannot could how many times I have seen Ryan sacked and there are 2 O-lineman standing around no where near an opposing defensive player. I could write 2 pages on what’s wrong with the O-line and the D-line for that matter.
As a matter of fact, in the draft and free agency, linemen are the only players we should be making deals with. Our back field is pretty solid mostly, they need protection.

I feel your pain brother. The Chargers O-line is pretty bad too. Rivers is always getting knocked around and that is why he had messed up ribs earlier this year and has a messed up back now.
There might be 4 quarter backs in the league who are better than Ryan, and 2 of them will soon be 40. Can’t put that team’s losses on him. Hell there’s a half dozen teams that won’t make the playoffs this year that would be super bowl bound with him at quarterback.
The Cutler situation is silly. They must be wanting to trade him and just benching cause he’s made of glass. Or maybe they’re just gonna throw the next 2 games and hope for a higher draft pick. The contract reminds me of the one the Bills gave Fitzpatrick a few years back. Over paid, and now they’re gonna have to cut him this winter even though there’s no upgrade to be had.

Romo, Brady, Luck, Rogers if those aren’t the 4 QB’s you had in mind, there are more than 4. I would say Ryan is top ten, but in the bottom of that list. If Ryan was on my team, I would not be looking to upgrade at the QB position. A good GM and a good coach can win a superbowl with Ryan.

It’s pretty good except I wouldn’t put Luck up there yet. He still throws a lot of picks, but in a few years he will probably be up there. I would put Brees in the first category. He has had a down year this year, but he has been stellar before that.

Luck is not an elite QB, not yet at least. Rivers, no… He’s done literally nothing in the playoffs. Ryan is exactly the same just a little younger. Mark Sanchez could throw TDs to Julio Jones.
