I agree. No one can say Kai showed up in shape in 09, and Phil had Kai beat without a doubt in '10 and '11. Someone could make an argument that he should have beat Jay last year, but I can’t think of an Olympia in which Kai was robbed of first place.

09 kai and a now bigger kai w/ equal or better condition than 09 (we haven’t seen it yet) beats the best phil possible. phils back is now amazing. that said his legs, hams, and amazing back are still in totality behind greens. phil wins fdb - that is the only mandatory he beats kai in IMO.
people who think phil is a lock are just wrong, phil is not and will not be a Ronnie, Arnold, Haney, Yates. phil is beatable. he may win a few O’s but he isn’t that overwhelming.

I think it’s safe to say that most people in the audience had Flex Lewis taking the top spot in 2011. English has been Steve Weinberger’s boy for so long that there’s no way the judges don’t favor him even when he’s not at his best. In my opinion, Dave Henry has always presented a better physique than English has at the Olympia. Sure there were those times when English’s conditioning was arguably slightly better, but despite his enormous muscles and small joints, I just find his physique sort of odd. Something that becomes very, very apparent when standing next to a more complete athlete like Henry.
After last year’s “judging”, I think English is done with receiving gifts, there was too much of a backlash amongst fans after the decision. If Flex repeats or improves on last year’s physique, and Henry can return to his top form, I think we’re gonna have a hell of a fight between the two of 'em.

Excepting those enthusiastic fans who are also competing BB’ers themselves, its hard to argue that average BB fan deserves anything more than they already get.
I think there’s no doubt in everyone’s mind that Phil is taking this year. I almost wished I was going last year instead because it was more of an excitement thinking that it was a close one between Jay and Phil. But don’t count Jay out of next year’s. He said he is going to compete 2013 and bear in mind that he has an empty trophy case to fill from last years loss (ok fine I’m a big Jay fan)

wolfe- from the front looks like the champ. he and freeman impress me. being big @ 5’7" …shit i see that everyday. now to be 6 tall and still look fucking huge…that is some impressive shit. i’ve met little short bodybuilders in real life and still thought…big muscles, looks like a freaky Jockey, perspective is different when the person is a real life size male.
no offense to the lil’ folks. if it makes you lil’ guys feel better i could tell you that i have a micro-penis. not true but it might for in instant make you feel better.

What makes me believe Phil can be the naxt arnold, coleman, or haney is the fact that he has improved every year (minus 09 when he had the illness) and always shows up in condition. Hes not going to show up not as his best like Jay did on 07 and 08 and give someone a window. It will take some phenomenal improvements from Kai to overtake Phil.
I am also pulling for Flex to win the 212. Wouldn’t mind if Henry does either but please not English.

Seriously, it’s getting out of hand people. I like Branch Warren’s physique. I also like Phil Heath’s and Evan C’s physique, too. Subjectiveness is a very cool thing, because ya know, everyone has their own tastes and preferences. Just because you don’t care for someone’s look doesn’t mean you have to run your mouth, joking or not, like you have some kind of “inside track” into what constitutes a great physique or not.

others have an inherent artistic sense. that guy ID for example - he is an amazing artist, recognizing form, shape, continuity, space, color, use of negative space w/in his medium.

Not commenting on cyrus’ output (as always hilariously entertaining and kinda shrewd), I agree in that everyone’s entitled to his/her subjective view on things in the real world (pure mathematics aside).
Having said that, though, subjectivity is at odds with judging criteria. And Bodybuilding is a ‘sport’ where competitors are (or at least should be) judged according to a set of criteria. Now, I’m not kidding myself into thinking those are all objective and clear-cut - 'cause they’re not, how should they? It’s not as easy as capturing physical metrics like time (e. g. sprinting) or mass (weight lifting).
Bottom line: don’t confuse your personal preferences with what the judges (or the powers that be) prefer. Two different animals.
