He tested positive for methylhexanamine, which seems a bit odd? Europeans are going to be very high quality competition, there is still olympic qualification to be settled!
Damn that’s right, I forgot… Dude was one of my favorites. One of the best physiques in weightlifting, and pretty tall too (6’0" or 6’1"). I’m partial to taller lifters :P
Lu xiajoun has the best physique.
“one of the best physiques”… lol. Jesus bro.
lol

Got my Sky HD box to record it all

http://wsport.free.fr/2012/Mars/rigert1.htm here is an article which says that Klokov and Akkaev are already selected for the olympics. Oleg Chen has a lot to lift for in the europeans, he probably needs something like 345 kilo total to impress Rigert!
From earlier in the thread . . .

Also, I’d think Klokov/Akkaev would be on a program designed for them to peak for London and completely ignore the Europeans, which would lend credence to my theory from another thread that they’ll be Russia’s representatives at 105 regardless of how well Bedzhanyan lifts in Antalya.
I feel smart right now.

article also mentiones that klokov lifts at 115, no wonder he can snatch 10kgs more in training then competition

-105 and SHW are going to be badass. Dolega (405), Sheyko (415), Bedzhanyan (420); Steiner (420), Scerbathis (425), Chigishev (445), Albegov (445).

Should be a good day for Russophiles.

Also of note: Mutlu in the 56’s(!), Pulaku in the 77’s, Vardanyan in the 94’s.
I think you might be mistaken, I can’t find Mutlu in the 56s?

I’ve heard its more along the line of 108-110 cutting 10 kg to make weight is just too much.

Mutlu was on the preliminary entry list but isn’t on the final start list (which is what you’re now directed to when you click that link). Also missing are Dolega, Scerbatihs, Chigishev, and Vardanyan. Not sure about the others but I’m guessing this means it’s unlikely we see Chigishev in London. Shame.

The article hatesmiles linked to was an interview with David Rigert, which I had to use Google Translate to read (originally in Russian), and this is from the translation:

 • Say Klokova almost 10 kg extra.

 • Yes. He is constrained to eat now, almost no breakfast. I think everything will be fine. He now shows great willingness and even rolls, a form of growing. Therefore, the intermediate competition to interrupt this reel is not desirable

The translation leaves a little to be desired, but you get the drift. And for someone who has the support system (both in terms of nutrition and, erm, restoratives) that Klokov does I don’t think 10kg is too much. Hell, last year for nationals I dropped from 112 post-workout 10 days out (admittedly maybe more of a “true” 110-111, full of fluids and stuff PW) to weigh in at 104 day of. And I did a shitty job of cutting weight. If he’s already starting to come down now he’ll be fine.

Weird. The list says that Tsarukaeva isn’t competing either which she was supposed to if I remember the interview with Rigert correctly. Had hoped to see Klokov or Chigishev as well. Especially Chigishev, as Klokov will be in London.

Also interesting that Steiner’s total is at 426. Read an interview last week in which he stated his current training maxes were 180/220 for a 400 total.

So it begins! 56 kilo class has Valentin Hristov who is a bulgarian lifting for Azerbaizan. He could produce some good lifting today…

This one is working for me right now.

no mutlu, which was disappointing, but valintin hirstov was spectacular!!! absolute jaw dropping speed on the snatches. Chinese might just have there hands full with him

He’s only 18 years old as well. Will be interesting to see how he matures and progresses over the next Olympic cycle.

He could be a real threat to chinese, that 125k did not look like absolute maximum lift. If he can do 130k at London then the two chinese lifters in 56k are worried…

lool at this guy getting an injection in his leg… “I hope that’s legal” lol

I dunno if they’ll be that worried.

Wu Jingbiao is going to bury him…

The thing with elite lifters and the Sn is that a make looks not limit but a miss looks just 5kg too heavy! The difference between a make and a miss is ridiculously small.

He will be a threadtin the future but the Chinese are going to crush it in the lower weight classes.

62 :
wtf?! Minadis SPEED DEMON and crazy power Jerker! Really impressive, really good lifting, super super super quick in the Sn, no one is quicker so far imo. Power Jerk was really impressive, rode them down to parallel/ a tad under parallel as well. Really impressive.

The Turk, not super fast but pretty fast but a monster pull, not hugely fast in the 1st pull but a really really strong 2nd pull, sticks it under, really aggressive over head, love his aggression and attack! Stuck the Jerks as well!

Really short Bulgarian, t rex arms as well, huge come back to place where he did place!

More fun to watch than the 56’s imo. 3 or 4 guys CJ more then me in the 62 LOL. I think about 5-6 Sn more than me. The most was 160 I think? The WR is like 152 182 and WR total 320 LOL

Have a massive HORN for lifting! Can’t weight to smash it in the gym tomorrow! I haven’t trained since Sunday!!!

Koing

hehe, I am just being superoptimistic, I want to see tight battles, not total chinese domination! A Briton on the platform!! Zoe Smith lifting!!

OMG Oleg Chen bombing out on the C&J… unreal… the door’s open now.

That may have eradicated any chance of seeing him in London. Shame. I didn’t see it, how did he miss them?
