Thanks all. Never really did a lot of direct arm work except hammer curls and lots of chin ups/pull ups long ago. Keep reading up on all the arm work the great discus throwers did and figure couldn’t hurt.
After work yesterday

Had a dream last night that the CMSGT of the USAF was coming to my civilian work and it was…you! What the hell did I eat before I went to bed. I been having these dreams allot (That I am back in the military not of you…no homo) and they want me to do my old job again but i don’t hve any uniforms or equipment and everything is different than what it was…crazy
Harry, what kind of warm up do you do before you throw, or do you just grip it and rip it?
I am still scheduled to do a games on the 28th, but I haven’t been able to practice cuz of my tore up foot. I’ll be able to pitch a couple next week. Still waitin to see if someone will trade my shift.
Too bad the Doc’s not still around, Colin. He could analyze your dream. Or maybe it’s better not. Just make sure you’ve got your 35-10 in order before you fall asleep.
MJ, I’m really bad about warming up. Swing my arms around a few times, make sure all the body parts are still attached, scratch my butt, adjust the jewels, check the wind. Warm up usually consist of some easy throwing throwing the objects.

Ok, I’m old an’ foolish. Feel in with the younger guys last night. Form went to shit from 375 up in the bench, no pausing, and the 405 attempt was just foolish. Think I can get back up to it, contest rules, if I concentrate on it for a while though. Hmmm. Yeah, I got plenty of time to fit another sport in.

Oh my. You’re a funny man. Always thought .5 lift meant getting it halfway back UP in bench! If I can count it as the descent, my stats look a whole lot better!
As a fellow masters track thrower and highland games competitor, it was very interesting to read through your training log. I have been working on a few things in my shot put and may ask you for some input if you do not mind. I am headed to the Rocky Mountain Masters Games in Colorado in a week and want some BIG throws.
BTW, I just finished hosting/competing in a highland games a few hours ago. My throws weren’t what they had been in the past, but I have to admit I felt tentaive with the track meet coming up next week and did not want to get hurt.
Yeah they changed it before I got out, Colin. Couldn’t remember the new reg. Oops, think I just proved your statement. Damn.
Jack, Might have to take a little time after my highland season and see if I can work it a while. Haven’t really been pushing it much lately.
kpsnap, picky, picky. See what you learn in here. Don’t change the standard just change the way you measure it.
Welcome chlindsay. Ask away. Rotation or glide? Carl Darby, when he’s posting, is a great source of knowledge on all things throwing.

See if the picture comes out. Delivering mail yesterday. On a porch, in the shade, round 95 degrees.
Got drug to lunch after church at my sister in laws “Tea Room”. You can eat as many cucumber and grass (sprout) samwhich “wedges” as you want and you ain’t gettin full. And sitting at a table with a diameter of 18" and drinking coffee from cups with saucers I can palm while sitting on chairs basically made out of clothes hanger wire is damn precarious. Now 3 of my big brothers are with me and I know for sure they didn’t put all their weight on the back of the chairs. Everytime I started to add something pertinent to the conversation my wife kicked me in the leg and my brothers gave me the “don’t you fart in church” look. All I said was could I get some tabasco for the sandwiches cause it makes anything taste good.
Cooking up a hugh batch of fried chicken for supper right now.
Rotational shot putter. I am working on a lower entry fom back, jump turn in middle and finishing like a spinner rather then a glider. Below is a link to a YouTube video of a practice last week with the 14.5# 128mm shot:
chlindsay, Your form looks really sound. Realize now that I’m speaking from the do as I say not as I do position, I abandoned the rotation several time in favor of the “skoot”. Several times it looked like your upper and lower body arrive at the front at the same time. Work on getting torgued in the middle and your hips to the front brfore your shoulders. Good speed and good explosion on the release. Repetition to lock it in and work at moving faster. I like throwing light, too. Been having a problem with arm speed. That the Rocky Mt masters you’re ompeting in?
Kpsnap, “what, you think I’m a funny guy? I make you laugh?” with apologies to Joe Pesci. Glad you like them.
I make some good fried chicken Joe. It’s all in the seasoning. The Col would be jealous.
Not til this weekend, Wilson. I’ve got to survive the night before so I can do some eating the nex day.
