2012 Comp Season

Soon as yawl start shaving you’ll be there, Wilson.
Steve, since you work out at home do them outside. That way you can dump them if you want and nothing gets in your way. First couple of times you do them are more getting use to the movement than the weight.
Thanks Scott, really trying to work the legs more than I was. Suppose to be the secret of the big throws.
John, I may do one if it’s local but I don’t want to get fully involved with anymore sports right now. I tend to jump in whole hog (go overboard?) and I can see myself foresaking other training to improve my powerlifting. I’ve given some thought to hitting some swim meets but there too don’t wanna mess up my extremely well planned, thought out, scientifically designed, and precisely executed training program.

Yesterday

Long day at work after the holiday. Got home in time to get some throws in with my newly acquired, quite by accident, 20# shot. Thing feels big as a bowling ball. Finished a 1500m swim well after sunset.

That time of year again. Got all the werewolf, vampire, and assorted monster DVDs lined up. Wife love’s them and sees about 10 minutes of a movie. Buries her face in my chest every time there’s a scary part (I hide mine in the pillow:)

Keep pounding away Harry… BTW bought my first razor yesterday…

I tend to do the same with my activities, go all out. That’s why I stayed away from Highland Games as long as I did. Powerlifting is easier for me to avoid, since in the realm of powerlifting, I’m weak as a, uh, well I’m not very strong. I’d probably start playing volleyball again before I did a powerlifting meet. I better go find that kitten quick. (naps are better than too many passions.)

although napping is a fantastic thing to be so passionate about

Love your new clan name! Great pictures from the games, and I’m very jealous of those legs. With legs like that it’s hard not to look good in a skirt. Your training is off the charts Harry, you are an inspiration sir.

Very, very funny.

I really like the training you do. One of my fav. logs (not those kind haha) to look into.

Thanks Dz, Ms Snap, and Scott. Only clan would take a half Cajun, half German, DZ.
Been real busy lately. Going through a strange period. My training’s going really good lately, kinda scary good. Can’t wait to get to the gym, having great work outs, ready to do it again the next day. Showing some growth, too, which surprizes me, being mauture and all. Either several of my work shirts have shrunk through the shoulders or I’ve grown some. Not doing anything different I can think of. Just going with it and see where it all leads.

Now when I get DOMS it’s usually the worst 2 days after the lifting. Next day, walking my route, oh shit, my hamstrings up near the gluts started screaming, all from a little different angle. Keeping these suckers. Hurt so good.

Nice swim after work. Zydeco band at the Knights of Columbus. Good time. Of course, the family continued their long term refusal to allow me to sing.

Tell the missus to stop using hot water and hang dry them, or, stop slipping in that vitamin “T” in your coffee.

seriously though, you must be going thru puberty all over again, nothing else explains it. Couldn’t be the outstanding training sessions and all around bonhomie you display…

You and that damn Smith Machine. I bet if everyone raved about it, you wouldn’t touch it with a 50’ caber thingy. Whatever floats your boat, I guess, at least it looks like the damn thing is working for you. Great work in here.

what a busybusy week-

really good work.

RDL-s are hard as hell on me too.

My wife is a CRNA. It is a great field.

Everything has a time and place. My new place has a lot of things, but no Smith machine, which I kind of miss, as it is a great place for everyone who just wants to do curls to stand

Boy oh boy what a busy training week. As I rememeber your the smaller brother so of you sing your bigger borthers are going to hold you down. I guess I’m out of luck on finding me a clan. I 'spect there aint to many Welsh clans and all…

Great training in here again and as usual.

Saw a guy curling in Smith: the Man’s Machine. It was a bizarre sight. Didn’t really work, but he did it anyway.

Sorry bout that, cap’n. I’ll just get back in formation with the rest. Thanks for the input.

You know I was just teasing.

So what’s your plan for off season training? So far I’m seeing some killer lower body days, shoulder days, and chest days. A bit of body building stuff in with all that, together with the swimming. No dynamic lifts. No mention of throwing. I remember a comment you made (can’t remember where), something to the effect of leg strength is essential, which fits in with what you are doing. I have to agree in that whenever my squat increases, everything else important does too. Other work like dynamic lifts, bench, plyos, etc. can tweak the results a little, but the bottom line is: Did your squats increase?

And they say, “You don’t tug on Superman’s cape,
You don’t spit into the wind
You don’t pull the mask off that ol’ Lone Ranger
And you don’t mess around with Mr. hel320’s Smith Machine.”
