That work load is incredible, terrific work sir! I love the story about the big guy in the gym, too funny.
Best of luck and have fun this weekend.

Don’t get me started on the women in the gym, Ms Snap, “but I was using that bench for my bag!”
Colin, I may be crazy but I’m cheap, too. Ain’t payin for no mirror.
Joe, Most the people at the gym are pretty cool. Just run into one every now and then.

Still really impressive and inspiring.

Amen.
Thanks all, very much appreciated. Really good to hear from you Barry.
Games tomorrow are right down the road, 35 miles, and being put on by the regional Scottish Society. While not of Scottish decent (“now, ye never really know for sure, laddy”) my training partners are, ergo, I’ll be helping with the set up and take down for this years event. Jammie MacGregor,(hmm, polish, ya think?) has been responsible for bringing an annual festival back to these parts. This is our 2nd annual festival and if it’s anything like last years it’ll be outstanding. So, when Jamie throws an arm round my shoulder an says, “Harry, canna I beg a wee favor of ye?”. I repy, “Why certainly me boyo. A bonny lass or three need tending to?” (I’ve paraphrased, slightly.)
The wee favor? I get to “balance” the categories, i.e., too many masters, I throw "B"s. Too many masters and "B"s, I may have to go “A”. (me: “Sure you don’t wanna give me $10.00 and pretend I’m a pro?” Jamie: “Will you take $5.00?” Cheap ass Scotsman.)
Don’t really care what category I throw in, feeling real good and ready. Weather forecast in the upper 70’s, clear skies, slight breeze.
When it comes down to it, the class you throw in doesn’t really matter (well except for that 56lb monster) but how far, high, or whatever you want to call it with caber, the things go. Be strong, quick, and hit all the right positions.
Harry, it sounds like perfect fall weather for you tomorrow! Have a great time and it doesn’t matter what class you throw in, drink some good beer and maybe a wee dram of something else Scottish!
I love reading the Saturday Evening InterwebZ, as written by Harry Rockwell.
I also want to submit a request for a video of the vaunted caber toss (hope that’s what it’s called).
Does this mean more kilt pics?
One of the great things about going to these games is the drive. We’re right at the end of the Smokey Mountains here. Valley’s are filled with early morning fog and thick mist rises off the lakes and rivers. Easy to see where the mountains got their name.
Sorry but didn’t get any caber pix this time punnyguy.
Beautiful day. Actually started off kinda chilly and warmed up to the mid 70’s. The competition. It was ugly, I got my ass handed to me. I placed 4th in the A division out of 8 so I was pretty happy with that. Had to compete against 2 of my training partners, Tree and Andy, who we figure together weigh around 700# and my buddy Justin, 6’10", 380#, a “super” A, (Feel sorry for me? Didn’t think so, sniff). Had a great day, not sure if the 56# weight throws and 22# hammer were PRs but I definitely PRed in the Sheaf and the 28# for distance. Threw odd size stones, 18.5 open, 25 Braemar, and got some good throws. I think someone cut down a dam telephone pole for the caber we used in the A’s, it was huge. I onlt got 70,70, and an 85, close but no cigar. One of the most impressive things I’ve seen in a long time, Andy picked the caber, started to lose it forward, without having taken a step, heaved and turned the damn thing.
Finally found my Clan. This is an official recognized caln with members all over the world. Check it out here. http://www.caberdancer.com/MBhome.htm
Unless something else comes down the pike that’s it for the year. Headed to the gym in a bit to start training for next year.

Good job
Dang, Harry, throwing with the As and keeping up is pretty dang impressive, especially at your advanced…um…level of wisdom. Sounds like you had some large land mammals throwing with you, too.
and we all knew you were scottish at heart
I am Harry MacBubba of the Clan MacBubba, and I am immortal…
Looks like a whole lot of fun Harry! Glad you had a good time.
