Some supplement or equipment manufacturer needs to put out a poster with the ‘laws’ of spotting on it and it needs to be put up in every locker room, reception area and all over the walls of every gym, so people can learn how to spot correctly and what is expected of them. One of the very few things I miss about lifting in a gym is a spot, but half the time even that seems to get fucked up.
I was strong today but I let annoying distractions get the best of me and I let my form go to shit on the 400 attempt. I’ve got more than that in me but not when I don’t have my mind right. I didn’t get any pull back all.
So I’m 23 days out from my meet and distractions are starting to pile up. After consulting with the MD’s and PhD’s at work I’ve made a doctor’s appointment where I’ll almost certainly be told that I have a Keratoacanthoma on one of my traps. I wasn’t able to get an appointment to get that confirmed until June 16th though. So I’ll find out if a have a mildly cancerous spot on my back or not 48 hours before the meet.
Now I’m not worried in the least. If I have it, its very easily treatable and has an incredibly low incidence of metastasis so its all good. But my wife is very worried, and is only going to get more so until its taken care of, and that will distract me.
Add into that I took a couple of progress pics and they weren’t exactly where I want to be which is not all that inspiring as to busting out PR’s.
Today is a day off so I thought I’d lay out where things stand right now.

If I just hit these second attempts it would be +30-35lbs over my Feb. meet results. I feel good, I feel strong but I need to get my head and my ass wired together soon.
